  • There’s this one called “App Store”, it’s rather good, but tends to ask for money.

  • Gadget, directly followed by Caustic

  • Music related: iMS-20!
    Non music related: Procreate!

  • I adore MyAudioStream to stream and playback my daughter's songs recorded with AV receivers.

+1 to this. Gave me the most excitement. Mainly because I already owned a usb controller that I had stopped using because my PC broke.......Don't know why but it seemed like it might be perfect for iMS20

Is there something essentially wrong with me that I find this picture so alluring?

It certainly puts my filter into overdrive !

  • For me it must be Thumbjam!
    Jesse is da king!
I also in love with Rolfs work (NLog &Nave etc...)
And, it hurts to not mention Korg Inc... They have done a lot for the iOS community!
    And, Yonac!
And and and... You get it...

    Funny!

  • Hate to break the rules but gotta: Patterning, Animoog

  • Like several others here, I would also say Samplr. Which is amazing because it is showing it's age, has some definite flaws, and the developer (god bless him) is painfully slow to update it. It always seems like it's about to be abandoned.

Still, it's the most fun and inspiring app I have. (and I have a lot) Whenever I throw some samples into it and start noodling around, I almost always start creating something awesome.

I didn't click with it initially, but have been having a great deal of fun with it lately.

Far be it for me to initiate a stalking, but I think we need a Forum roadtrip to go camp for a weekend in the front yard of Mister Samplr, just to show our appreciation by way of loud keening noises all night long in supplication for an update etc.

  • Audioshare - I could get by without any other app- but not this one.

  • if we are talking audio apps only, my vote goes to animoog - especially as you can run two instances on the ipad. It's not perfect but has that moog sound.......
if we were talking midi apps, I don't need to say ;)

erm How do i delete this post ? LOL

  • Yes.... witty.... granted.... 'any' other not 'all' other.... mmmmn :)

  • SAMPLR CREW

also idensity. those 2 apps are things that wouldn't be nearly as good as they are without a touch interface. i'm about to try to shift my attention towards ableton for doing most things but i'll always have to have an ipad around because of those 2 apps. idensity actually has a vst version but it's just not the same without being able to touch the sample.

  • Loopy for ever!

  • Samplr samplr samplr samplr x infinity. It's the reason i got an iPad in the first place, and - for me - more than anything else is one of the few apps that is a truly unique and complete 'instrument', which I couldn't possibly replace outside of the iOS world. It's got its limitations and flaws (whatever, so do tons of classic pieces of gear - you ever use an SP 1200?) - I pretty much NEVER make complete tracks with it - but I've used it in so many ways; during experimental/art live performance to create drones and atmosphere, as a way of creating melodic loops or drum parts which I then use in larger compositions, etc. Honestly 99% of my workflow on my iPad is - upload audio (from old four track recordings, jams, whatever) or record stuff into audioshare (using apps, FX, hardware synths, guitar pedals, shortwave radio through the crappy built in iPad mic), find a few interesting snippets of sound, 'open in' Samplr; a few hours later, have the genesis of a new song/beat/whatever. Cannot overstate how much i love it - if given a choice between keeping it and losing every other app in existence, I'd choose it without question.

That said, I live in fear of Marcos abandoning the app completely. :'(

    XYNTHESIZER dag-nabbit!

Why? I like it too, but am not certain what if it offers over, say Step-poly-arp or maybe 100 others.....

    1) works on the phone
    2) easy to change/playable key and mode
    3) built in synth is pretty damn good
    4) it can control multiple synths external or iOS
    5) generative music per voice or area selected
    6) variable steps 1-32
    7) tempo 16bpm to 300
    8) syncs well
    9) plays well
    10) works on my phone

As far a the generative part of XYNTHESIZERs greatness: Node beat is great but too atmospheric , mixtikl is deep but complex, XYNTHESIZER I can set full or just a part to random and set it to play for hours and with some tweeking it's all good.

  • Dry patch thread.

Favourites, meaning the apps I actually use:

Samplr, loopy, turnado, impaktor, gadget, audioshare etc, etc...

  • Beatmaker 2

    Auria a close 2nd

it was the first app i got that felt like it wasn't copying something else and made total sense to me on the ipad. it's usually the first app i go to when programming beats

  • Where's the Synthmaster Love?

The heir apparent to Alchemy, it features a similar soundpack IAP model and even two X/Y pads to replace the magic 8 square. And the patches sound sooooooo loverly ...
