speaking of which; can anyone recommend a photoshop style app for iOS, pref on sale. Just need to resize crop and fart about with photos then scribble over the top of them. Mainly to make soundcloud cover pics.
Really tempted by Cyclop too, but I'd already convinced myself after playing around with it on the desktop I wouldn't use it much....but it's on sale
I don't hear people talk about Cyclop much though since the initial release....It could be one you play with for a bit and put in the drawer....Any die hard Cyclopists?
Have to admit I haven't used it as much as I thought I would on my tracks, but like iVCS3 it's a great one to open and fiddle with. Funnily enough though I did wheel it out foy my last SOTM - more for its silly noises than bass though.
Don't think there is one app that does this - I use a combination of various bits and pieces, mostly which I've nabbed when they were free: Diana, Circular, Juxtaposer, Fragment, Snapseed, Enlight, iColorama, Typorama etc.
That's good to know, I think I'd use it more for weirdness too rather than bass. I'm sure there's quite a bit of depth in there too if you spend the time to tinker.
thanks @monzo, just noticed pixelmator is on iOS and very cheap. May give that a try
Photogene 4 is the closest I've seen to an app with the basic editing capabilities of Photoshop. It's an app that always has a place on my iPad. It can add text too, but I don't know how powerful that feature is.
Put Diana, Circular, Juxtaposer, Fragment, Snapseed, Enlight, iColorama, Typorama etc. in your sale ticker machine and be patient...
These two tracks are almost all done in Egoist:
Phenomenal stuff! Didn't realise Egoist was THAT good...!
Thanks Richie! There's a fair bit of other stuff as well, but the meat and two veg was provided by Egoist. Just listened to some of your tracks - nice stuff on there, really like it - and I think Egoist would fit in with what you do.
i picked fugue machine as my pre black friday purchase. almost went for zmors modular but it says min.8.4 and i'm stuck on 8.3 so not sure if that's a problem.
Praise indeed from the maestro.
Thanks a lot. I've played around with Egoist without getting anything much useful from it, but you've definitely inspired me to apply myself to it with renewed enthusiasm.
Yep, I have a lot of photo apps, but for "just-one-finger-edit-on the go and free", Snapseed is very good.
I am not a die hard Cyclopist however there are times when it really adds a unique ornament to a track or for bass that is felt more than heard. i mostly just tweak presets and I am happy with how it responds to some quick noodels. It is a bit sluggish when loading patches on air1.
it is one i put in drawer right away and thought 'ok maybe someday' and sure enough someday came, which it ussualy does not.
I think it benefits from some FX slapped on. If you don't have Turnado that's worth snapping up - the Swiss Army Knife of effects apps
sweet tracks monzo, I love your tastes!
Yah egoist is super fun if you are into happy accidents. i like feeding it messed up, nonmusical, improvisational synth noodels or just randomly compiled sample library bits (with elements a second or two long) and then just jumping around and seeing what emerges. Being able to use the bass for extra midi control is nice to. Coupled with midilfos on the drum and or fx parameters you can get a load of fun chaos.
Thanks I find creating weird little snippets with it works well, which I then export into Auria and sequence up from there. You can build up some really left field stuff that way.
unique ornament is my favorite new explanation/description/excuse
i like it so much I got the PC version so I could run multiple instances. it would be awesome if they made an auria plugin. Been meaning to email them about that.
Hmmm, cyclop for a tenner sounds quite good but according to the latest review on appstore its having issues with ios9 & AB
I dove into the Cyclop half an hour ago after being on the fence. Half an hour later, I'm satisfied with my purchase. Got a sleeker, digital version of a Prince/The Time bass goin on.
Damn that "buy" button. It's not even Friday. I hate days off work.
Holding off anything else until Friday night just because you never know.
My index finger remains an addict
Holding off? Holding off? This is not the mindset that filled America's plate...
For $10, it's worth it, even if there's issues with it. There's a lot to learn with that interface. I'd suggest using it standalone and spending the time to learn everything. Hopefully by then, it'll be updated and you'll have still got a killer deal.
It's not $10, just $10 off the regular price
That's still a good discount. There's a lot of cool features packed in to that app and it sounds amazing.
Wish everyone would just stop it about egoist and cyclop.... My finger can't take it. "Honey, I saved $20, almost free"
I paid the full whack for Cyclop, but still think it's worth every penny - Sugar Bytes provide a lot of app for the money.
