  • One huge question...iM1 + IAP or Updating Synthmaster Player to PRO + some IAP?

I'm not keyboard player and I already own Gadget.

    Any help would be appreciated.

There's not, it's a mastering processor, no editing or track sequencing.
Yah it sounds great...  would not be too hard for them to have 'sessions' that you can jump to left or right though.  At least from a UI / workflow point of view.  Under the hood it may be more to manage memory wise but they don't need to play simultaneously for what I am thinking.

If you are more "dance on the floor" Synthmaster is one the best preset player but iM1 is a must have if you use Gadget...my vote for iM1

I think the real reason it still doesn't have these things is that they've moved on to other projects. I don't want to go on a rant about it, so I'll stop here. To sum it up quickly, I was a beta tester of this app and no longer use it, nor did I really use it for any project, as I saw that any development seemed to have stopped. Take that with a grain of salt, but I feel that the company is too scattered.

Ahh interesting!  Well, if they make it an AU at some point that could be cool but sounds unlikely now, but yah even in the description on the app store there is a cattle call for beta testers for the next wave.

Obviously personal use/taste. I think you'll have gathered by the largely positive reactions to both these 'products' that the real answer is 'buy either and put the other on your Christmas list', BUT if I had to choose (especially if you're a sometime Gadget user) it's iM1 all the way.

    Good luck.

Are you serious? In the app description? They are very nice people at that company but I don't understand the way they do things.
  • I am really tempted by iM1, (just got Gadget), but read here and there that the sound is very outdated...is that true? Worth the sale price?

Looking at all the possibilities to tweak it, seems hard to believe. That is, looking at the screen shots in App Store. And the cards...seems interesting

pros - cons? What are your opinions?

I use it quite a lot for padding out MIDI live stuff, for example I might use an iM1 drum kit in a Fugue Machine or TC-Data jam. There's a lot of 80's fluff, but enough sounds and instruments to make it a worthwhile purchase for me.
  • I love the dated sounds of the iM1. I think of them as classic sounds really  :)

i found there to be many many outdated ones and some that are not too bad and/or fx-able but I just find when working on a track hitting one of those cindy lauper patches kills the mood and make me want to vomit.  No offense to cindy lauper.
  • I didn't think I wanted the im1 at first, but bought it last week, with the cards, and there are some excellent sounds in there. I haven't dived into editing it yet, but for less than $20 to get an entire m1 and t1 is crazy.

Now I'm debating module, since I love working in gadget those sounds would be cool but I'm not sure I'd use them much in there. Not being a real keyboardist I definitely wouldn't use module live.

Although I am a preset slut, iM1 has enough tweakability to update any particular sound if that's what you feel you need to do. I love module, but I use iM1 far more. A real toolkit.

@audiogus Cyndi says hello and to be free etc.

Awww... I'm sorry Cyndi.  Always liked your voice/vocals and fashion sense.  maybe I should give iM1 another shot... Try and find it's true colors... Etc
  • I'm not Cindy fan, but if she can perform "The Wall Live", you can forgive her.

  • Woah, so Mr. Late To The Party just got Borderlands Granular.... i  this...
  • Sun-Vox and Arpeggionome Pro as well.

  • I got Phase 84 and I'm happy. Different sounding synth.
