Just another question,
Does anyone know / is there any info regarding how many instances of the AP synths that can be used before CPU meltdown ? I know that Korg has a list that says how many gadgets can be used for different ipad models.
Depends on the patch maybe as few as one
It depends on the patch - some are much more CPU intensive than others. On my Air 2 I can get about 4 instances of Twin 2 running with my buffer set to 128. If I increase the buffer to 512 I would imagine you could get more - something to test when I get the chance. However a single patch can easily use all the available CPU in some cases.
@BiancaNeve
@richardyot
Cheers for that. So no 16 or so synths running at any time then, it would appear ?
Probably not, but you never know - if latency is set to 512 and the patches aren't too heavy it might be possible. I would imagine 16 instances of Lyra is doable.
Then again if you freeze everything you're not actively working on a lot should be possible.
I just tested on my iPad Air: 16 instances of Lyra, perfectly possible. Max CPU around 60% while playing; 5-10% while idle: opens possibility of even more Lyra tracks at once. Going to test it. More than one instance of Twin2: hit-or-miss. Buffer set to 512. Apogee One.
P.S.: tested with 24 Lyra tracks with the same hardware and setup: it amazingly ran smoothly, despite the max CPU showing 105% (!!! Is this a bug, or was AP designed to endure some CPU overload without dropping out somehow?)
I disabled the CPU overload message in 2.01 until we get to the bottom of the CPU issue that we've seen in iOS9. (we've noticed CPU usage fluctuating +-10% in iOS9, depending on what GUI windows are open).
Lyra is very CPU efficient. We've run 40 instances with no issues on an Air 2. It depends on how many notes are being played at any given time of course.

Anybody explored transient audio to midi using voice?
I confess the only use I see for this feature is for triggering drums and percussive instruments. It cannot detect the actual notes, only the transients, which are rendered as repetitions of a single note you can change in a dialog box. It's nice for Auria to actually have this, but it must evolve a little bit before it becomes really useful.
With Logic's Flex Pitch to MIDI, it's possible to write, for example, a guitar theme to musical notation, or to make a MIDI instrument track playing exactly the same notes or even create more complex harmonisations by changing the original MIDI output. I use it a lot. But I believe Auria Pro will get there soon.
All the best!
Thanks :-) Maybe élastique have got something up their sleeves for Audio Pro, but not yet ready. I chose to abandon Macs for ipads a few years ago, so Logic is out for me now. I'll have a look at the Midimorphosis app and see if it works for voice.

Thats good to know, less so that it appears only a small number of synths can be used concurrently.
Freezing doesn't work for everyone, if you're constantly making changes to parts, you need things to be 'live' as it were.
Guys sorry if this has been asked. Will AP auto select midi instruments for an imported midi file?
No autoselection of instruments, like bs-16i, each track defaults to standard 'stereo grand piano'.
Ok that's not a buggy as I always select my own
First piece on Auria Pro. I think it's done. This is called Changing Times, based on an old improv "framework" I created a century or two ago. I wrote it in Notion in standard notation, including drum parts separated, then exported as midi. Imported into Auria Pro. I then redid the acoustic and electric guitar tracks, playing the parts, acoustic recorded through a single mic, electric direct in. Then doubled each of those and mucked with them considerably. Bass I left as midi, it's the Lyra picked bass, the drums are from various Lyra sets, there is a bit of synth from the fabfilter twin 2. Various plugins such as Saturn and Timeless. I'm pretty happy with it. The above workflow I quite like - gets the frame of the song into the DAW with decent timing, and I can then replace what I want and mix it.
Any comments, particularly on the mix, are much appreciated. I usually mix on a set of Focal Spirit Pros. Also listened on buds, stereo, and in the car. Mix is the hardest part for me. I also really struggled with electric guitar tone on this one. I'm fairly happy with the sound now, but I learned yet again more for the next time.

Nice song, @rickwaugh! Congratulations!!
I already recorded a few dozen tracks for other working in the box with Auria Pro, but this one is my second original song that was completely composed and recorded with Auria Pro, composed and recorded between sessions: an instrumental called "Bon Vivant".
I used a very simple bass sound and a clap both designed with Yonac's Magellan app, and all the other synth sounds came from Twin 2 presets with a little tweaking. The Clavinet sound is from Sample Tank (there are some nice sounds there) and the guitar was recorded live through an Apogee One. I mixed with a Sennheiser HD280, and also checked on a pair of KRK Rokit 5's and a very cheap pair of computer speakers, besides the iPad own speakers.
Like it. Very up front (in these headphones), Was put in mind of Steely Punk or Daft Dan Good stuff...
Thank you, @JohnnyGoodyear! I listen to Daft Punk a lot (who doesn't?), and you were spot on with the Steely Dan reference, since I am indeed a huge fan of them.
Nice, @theconnactic. A little bit of funk goes a long way.
Thank you, @rickwaugh!
You're welcome. I want to hear something from you in the SOTMC for January 2016
I've been using Auria a lot the last few weeks for an album I'm working on, though not for the actual writing per se. I've been writing the album in Live using Push 2, and managed to do the entire thing in exactly one month. Where Auria really came in handy, was letting me take all rough mixes of the songs as I was close to finishing them, and play around with the track order while not in the studio. I'd load them up on the iPad at the end of the day, and go sit outside to listen to what I had done and play with track spacing and track order (it's meant to be a continuous album).
Also, because I was going to be using Pro-L to master it on the laptop, I could use Pro-L in Auria to get a rough idea how it might sound on different headphones once it was done. Useful for gut-based mix checks as I work. It was really handy for letting me listen to everything with a fresh perspective out of the studio.
Also, Auria Pro came out right while I was in the middle of the album work, and happily everything kept on working with no issues at all. Just looked a lot nicer after the upgrade Here's more if anyone wants to check it out:

very good, Tarekith, thx
Had this running while working on some film work....very inspiring in a not-obviously-connected way. Impressive project.
Very good indeed, @Tarekith! Congrats!
