  • £80 in app purchase...installed then deleted :)

  • Oooh it lets you in to a "secret". Is the product as bad as the marketing?

  • I want to at least demo it but can't figure out how to put an audio file in. I don't think I'll purchase but I'm curious how good it sounds if it costs this much.

Looks good, does it perform as it looks like it should

I hope so for $/€99.99, although if this is a direct like for like with the PC version then this is quite cheap as that will retail at $/€359.99

  • Looks like it only loads songs from the music library, mine's empty, only streaming so I'm not 100% sure. I don't see it in the open in menu and don't see a way to paste in either.

  • Think this ones marked as professional use. Not a lot of point unless you have great headphones or studio monitors, studio acoustics, know what you're doing and plan to be making some money from recordings.

Or you are just filthy rich and can get any app you want.

Nice to see the iPad get some apps aimed specifically for the Pro market, though it's not the market I'm in anymore.

  • From what i understand .. Essentially it's a preset app that's tweakable ??
Sounds a lot of money for what it is ...having said that, it's Nice to see the iPad being taken seriously as a music making machine.

  • So a kind of "LANDR comes to iOS" approach. Hmmmm. That's too critical probably but the "secret sauce" preset approach to mastering isn't the right way to do mastering IMO. Better off with something like Adam Matza's service - he's done a number of iOS musicians' works already and is very good.

Can't help thinking that if they priced it at 1/10 the current price, they would get at least 10x the sales (and therefore at least as much revenue, and probably more). Gives lots of scope for special offers though in the future...

P.S. Only loading from the music library doesn't sound like Pro feature to me!

  • And mastering these days without good Lufs and Dbfs meters isn't mastering

It's on step above LANDR, just barely :)

I have no intention of buying this, but it sounds as if you would hardly recommend it even if I did....

It's just a subset of their T-racks Mastering modules for the desktop stipped down for ios use. Final touch or the Fieldscaper dudes mastering app will do the same things for 10 dollars.

  • For the price of this app you could almost get Pro-L and Pro-C in Auria, which gives you a ton more flexibility. Though obviously the whole intention of this app is simplicity.

Sure, but Pro-L also comes with presets :)

  • Eighty notes !

A pretty crippled demo as well (silence insertions galore).

Hardly. I suggest you spend some more time with it and really dig in more if you are getting that kind of result. It is more than "presets" by a long shot, so work with it and you should see (hear) what it is all about.

As I had posted on KVR, there is a lot more to it than the oversimplification I'm seeing from many (and of course from many who haven't even tried it):

Like any product, yes there are presets. The way Lurssen Mastering Console works, what's managed with these different style settings is the signal chain's gain staging and interaction between the modeled units as well as Gavin's unique "control panel" used to tweak and "push" while mastering. The iPad app is free with available IAP at https://itunes.apple.com/app/lurssen-mastering-console/id1059837456 to try and the Mac/PC version is available for preorder at http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/lurssen/

Again, hardly. I hope you give it a try and experience what really went into this from Gavin and IK.

I see we've given you a bounty of marketing opportunities to pimp that service by releasing this. If you get a cut, do we? ;) All kidding aside, best of luck to him and hopefully he'll nab some Grammy awards to rival Gavin and Lurssen Mastering.

  • @ikmultimedia glad to see that you guys are here listening! If you guys add a nice and reliable Lufs EBU-128 meter for broadcast, and the ability to import audio via Audioshare, open in, dropbox, icloud....etc.....I will certainly buy this app since it is just what is missing on my ipad to master remotely to broadcast......well Audiobus and IAA wouldn't hurt either

  • By the way, a little OT here, just received my iRig acoustic yesterday! Excellent piece of gear, thank you for that....just two suggestions, a preset for it on the Mic Room app, and on the amplitube acoustic, a way to bypass / fine tune those final filters that happen at the final stage of the calibration process, most of my guitars sounded really well, but my 12 string and my parlour could sound better

  • @ikmultimedia Is music library really the only way how to get the audio in?

I have a good chunk of tomorrow set aside to dive in deeper.

    I will value your thoughts.

  • Sounds like everybody wants it but nobody wants to spend that money!?
Easy audio-import would be essential for me (audioshare, open in).Audiobus not that much as I´m only mastering
    finished mixes.

Actually after spending the evening reading some of those KVR threads alluded to, I'm not going to bother. There are some companies whose products I'm interested in exploring deeper, and some companies who just rub me the wrong way. I've already expressed my opinions on how I would master music on the iOS platform, and that opinion hasn't changed in light of this app and the initial projects I tried with the free demo. I'm sure it will appeal to some people though.

  • Love how IK's media person swoops in whenever a product is disparaged (and the commenter is always wrong, so wrong!) And I say this as an IK user.

I'm sure he's a very nice chap, but if that's IK 'media' person....

  • Total amateur hour, application-wise and customer service/marketing-response wise.

I'm sorry I wasted my time having to import an already-mastered iTunes track to see this thing's 'potential'.

OK so whats the difference between mastering a track with this vs T-racks? Is Lurssen Mastering Console more advanced please explain. I love how this app and the iPad are featured on his webpage very inspiring knowing we are using the same tools.
