@Schimanski I checked on my iPad, and I have the same issue with my projects. I deleted a project and recovered only a small amount of space back. The iPad version may have been derived from the desktop version, so they may not have fully considered the need for file management. Perhaps they can remedy this in the next major update.

I'll probably do what you did and reinstall the app after I've completed the next round of file exports. It's currently taking up about 3GBs of extra space.

Despite the space issue that I'm having with LMC, I'm very happy with the mastering results.

Here are some music tracks that I've remastered using the app. The first six tracks were created entirely with an iPad (mostly with Alchemy Mobile). The last track is from a cassette that I recorded in the 1990s (I was using Yamaha DX7 and TX816 synths at the time).

  • Thanks very much for sharing - beautiful!!!
Last friday I´ve mastered a "Folk-Country" CD with my usual approach (developed over the past 10 years) using
Logic and UAD-plugins.The client is very happy. Then over the weekend I took the same mixes and mastered them
in LMC just to get used to the different starting point with an "official" project. And the results are a bit different
AND VERY GOOD!To me they sound a bit more "analogue" - very strange. On Tuesday I let my client listen to them
and we´re going to decide which ones we´ll take.Unfortunately I canˋt share the results here before the CD is
released. But I still canˋt believe I have this on my iPad.By the way,I sent a notice to IKM concerning the disk space
    issue.Hope they fix this soon!

Good on ya, getting word to @ikmultimedia, and sharing your comparison.

Be curious to know which way your client goes, once they decide ;)

  • I also sent a note to the team about the reported space issue. Thanks for opening a ticket, too, @Schimanski

  • Thanks @ikmultimedia for looking into this. I tried to open a ticket through the app, but ran into a problem. It wouldn't let me send the message until I select my hardware -- even after I select the iPad Pro as my hardware. I tried selecting an iPad Air 2 instead, just to send the message, but it wouldn't accept that either. I've attached a screenshot to show you what's going on. It may be another bug to squash for the next update.

  • @ikmultimedia , it would be nice if you could double tap the FX in the mastering chain to make them bigger and able to do your own adjustments if needed.

@Schimanski I just heard back from IK Multimedia support on how to delete the LMC processed files. They show up in the File Sharing section of iTunes where you can remove the files individually.

It would good to be able to do this without a computer, but at least there's a way to clear out the clutter.

  • @DavidEnglish Thanks for the info!Yes,it definitely should work without a computer,because my iPadPro,iOS 9.2.1.
seems to be no longer compatible with my Macbook OSX 10.7.!!!Oh well....

  • @Schimanski I did suggest to IK Multimedia support that they should "consider building in an internal file deletion capability, so that we can remove files without a computer." IK Multimedia support replied back with "I will be more than happy to pass along this suggestion to the correct persons."

  • @DavidEnglish +++ fingers crossed that it doesnˋt take too long.

Does this app have a way to bypass the Apple audio processing in the headphone jack like Auria does? Thanks, in advance, for any light on this.

  • edited February 2016

@supanorton There is a provision for bypassing the Apple audio output.

"Monitor HD" lights up in the LMC app when you have a hi-res audio monitoring device attached to your iPad. That's supposed to indicate that you're getting the full 96kHz/24-bit audio output.

I did attach a Leckerton UHA-6S MKII to my iPad to see what would happen. LMC plays the music through the device, but the "Monitor HD" doesn't light up. It didn't sound any better (to my ears, at least) than the iPad headphone jack. Maybe the UHA-6S MKII isn't compatible with LMC's hi-res output.

Thank you so much. Interesting as Auria allows the user to turn off the Apple processors in order to monitor through the iPad's headphone jack. It's probably not HD quality, but it's definitely much flatter/less hyped.

So, it looks like a real good pair of headphones would still need a high quality headphone amp/interface to get the best results. I suppose that makes sense, but I wish the app could turn off the Apple processing on the headphone jack. Thanks again. Very tempted by this thing...

I use my Sonic Port VX into Samson SR950 headphones whenever I want to bypass the headphone out. Makes a huge difference, and I just started using them with Lurssen and it sounds notably better. I'd also suggest a nice pair of monitors, etc.

Still haven't bought it - it's so expensive. But I want to. My birthday or a lucky lotto ticket can't come soon enough. I think John Walden over at the MusicAppBlog.com described it best as "boutique" software. It's easy to use, pretty flexible, and it's pretty hard to not get nice sounding results. Won't replace golden ears, but then, for $100, you don't have to spend 5 years developing your own. I have no doubt a seasoned mastering vet could achieve similar, even better results, but again ... how far will $100 take you there?

I fully intend to utilize pro mastering talent when I can afford to. And I will continue trying to get better mastering using Pro-L, etc. in Auria over time. But in lieu of that, a $100 gift card from heaven right now would go straight to Lurssen. To my (slightly damaged) ears, they did one heckuva job with this app ;)

  • Also can't emphasize enough how much FUN it is to use this app. Recording automation with those two big knobs after you dial in your EQ and such ... you can ride the swells up into the chorus and back down for a middle 8. Love the simplicity of the GUI. It's a blast :)

I'm trying to resist this. You're not helping. :dizzy:

2nd guess would be "She's Tight"

Actual Mastering Professional's guess - Dream Police.

EDIT: Ha! I wiffed 'em all

Is it the one called "This looks like a great idea but it's a tad expensive compared to other apps and I'm not sure what it's really doing but it sounds great and i'm not sure if it will be supported long term"?

I don't think that appeared on their greatest hits album but it's a cracking little tune :grimace:

    Love me some Cheap Trick.

Yeah, that would be awesome. I noticed there was no launch discount, and IK did not include it with their recent "all our bases are on sale" blast. My guess is they owe Mr. Lurssen more than a few bags of silver ...

And I think it's a bit of a hard sell to iOS musicians as it stands, so the worry is partly that it could easily get dropped if it doesn't prove profitable. Bit of a self-fulfilling thing..

  • To be fair I don't think IK tend to have sales on products that are this new. For example I seem to remember waiting about a year for the Moog sample pack in Sampletank to finally go on sale. So I would expect a similarly long wait for this app to go on sale. Speculation on my part obviously, but I imagine the strategy is to launch at full price, and then wait for sales to drop significantly before offering a sale.

Quite fair. I'm also reminded of the "ya gots ta be kiddin' me" intro price of iSymphonic ...

  • After reading the last several posts, I now want this too. It prob. is worth the $100.00. But, I will wait for a sale. Hopefully. Maybe........

Think this ones marked as professional use.

See, this is just the kind of thing that takes the mickey out of the whole IOS music making platform. Professional use, implies that most of the vast potential customer base - merely enthusiastic amateurs - should just *** off. It's a price pitched to alienate the mass market, and appeal to those with trousers full of cash who think spending so much more is a ticket to musical excellence.

Anyone who has heard the work of the boys on TheSoundTestRoom (among others) knows what great stuff can be made with relatively inexpensive apps.

Not sure if you've listened to any of my songs on SOTM club, but I have a lot of the tools available for ios, and I am still not able to get it to a level to where I like the way my songs sound. ;)

  • An update has just arrived where you can buy 2 days, a week or a month worth of access. Unfortunately it doesn't say how much it costs on mine, yet
