Has anyone else noticed Blocs Wave hijacking the Link tempo when you launch it? For example, I'll have Elastic Drums playing at 120 BPM and then launch BW, which was last set at 85 BPM. When it starts, it sets the Link tempo to 85 rather than reading the current tempo of 120 and adjusting to that. I tried reproducing this with different combinations of Link apps - none override the current tempo on launch when another app is running with a different tempo.

Glaring bug in my view. Can someone test and confirm?

Confirmed too, and yes, it's annoying. Ableton is clear in their documentation that Link is controlled by the "first one in" unless the first Link stops or leaves. This implementation breaks the rule (and breaks the most obvious use case).

Very sorry about that chaps, you're quite right and we'll get that looked at. We've already submitted an update earlier this week so unfortunately it won't be in the next patch (coming soon!), but it should be in the one fairly soon after that as a priority fix.

Are any of you guys getting drifting? I sliced up a sample in Audioshare using snap to grid and imported into Blocs and while it's in sync with the drum loops for a few minutes, it starts to drift which surprised me since I thought all samples are automatically time stretched?

I made sure the beats were set to 8 to ensure maybe a 7.99 might be the cause of the problem so not sure if I'm missing something obvious.

    Thanks in advance

If you still have the file in audioshare that is going out of sync, could you possibly mail it to our support email address and we'll check it out? You can do this straight from audioshare I think. ([email protected])

Just sent it to you guys. Subject title: Audiobus Forum Drifting Problem. Thanks

EDIT: I just tried loading it up again and playing it with one of your drum loops that I had been messing with yesterday. It's been about 5 minutes and NO drifting this time. I tried doing all the steps I did yesterday such as auditioning other drum loops and melodies and it's still playing in time. STRANGE. I swear yesterday it was off after a minute or two with the loops initially looping in sync but then after a while, starting at different times. I'm also looking at my imported sample now and it's at 7.99 but tempo exactly at 74. If you guys could just have a zoom feature and ability to import directly from music library, this would be ideal since we wouldn't be dependent on another app (like Audioshare) to do this. BIG credit to Jonathan and Audioshare for at least having the snap to grid feature but his app isn't dedicated to this and all the other apps like Twisted Wave and Hokusai haven't been as precise as using say Audacity on laptop and/or Ableton, but then that defeats the whole point of using ios as it's convenient to just use it wherever you are on your phone/ipad.

UPDATE: It's now drifting again. I went to check the key of the overall song to see if it was in tune with the sample as I wanted to experiment with other melodies from the soundpacks. Afterwards, I went to check the key of the specific sample (that I had emailed to your support) and AFTER hitting the checkmark, it started drifting immediately whereas up to then, it was perfectly in sync. What's interesting is that the sample was at 7.99 with the tempo at 74bpm and was perfectly fine but only after hitting the checkmark, did it drift. I then tried changing it back to an exact 8, thus changing the tempo to 74.12bpm and no luck. Tried changing it back and still drifts.

  • Wow, this thing is really coming along!

  • Multi stem out of only highlighted waves! This rocks! Mix out too!

You guys are making BlocsWave great!

    Hi guys,

This isn't actually supposed to display at all until you have a loop with some key information. It seems to be displaying only when you swapped from a session that already has some key information, so a fresh install will not show it for example. Thanks for the heads up, already fixed and will be in the next update.

once the app gets the slicing update I hope the bpm will be updated to be able to go lower than 60bpm. hopefully 10-25bpm.

Actually I believe we've added 1-999bpm (as this is required for link support). So yes. We've already implemented that.

oh didn't know this about Link, wonderful and thank you.

This http://ableton.github.io/linkkit/ implies that 20bpm is low end of what is required for Link. Not sure if your use cases of 10-25bpm are covered by Link per se. Anyone know of an app that goes below 20bpm and gets other apps to follow using Link?

Doesn't Ableton Live only go as low as 20BPM? I'd imagine this would the reason for Link's limitation, so as to prevent any foul ups with anything synced to Live itself.

If you have a crash to log/report, please email with as much info as possible to [email protected] and we'll take a look.

  • Anyone else having trouble recording into Blocs Wave with Audiobus? Every time i load it in the output slot, the input goes mute and I've tried all the usual suspects: background audio, etc and can't get it to work.

I just tried it on my phone and it worked fine. I loaded BW in the output slot and MoDrum on the input (in that order). Got a perfect loop.
