Elastic Drums Update 1.7.4 ... 1.7.6 is available for download

Hi there,

I am happy to announce that there is a new update of Elastic Drums available with some bugfixes, improvements and some great new presets !!

Here is the list:

  • debugged swing function
  • reworked jam screen with xy pad for master effects
  • Song audio recording starts from pattern 1 now
  • Now you can audio record all 6 drum channels separate additionally to the master output record. The recordings will land in your documents folder, which you can access via iTunes
  • New presets from Shadow Dancer

Here is a short video with the new stuff:

If you find any bugs or have feature requests, tell me via: [email protected]
If there is no serious bug, I will definitely start with the integration of a Sampler next.
I WILL DEFINITELY START WITH THE SAMPLER !!

In the meantime - enjoy the update and have fun with the new jam stuff !!

Cheers,
Oliver

    Thank You Oliver

I can't wait to use the randomizers on the sampler!

  • THANKS, great update

  • Cool. I must put more time in with Elastic Drums as the updates just keep on coming :)

  • This project is "my baby"! I will always work on it, always try to improve it and add more functionality, be assured
I could need some new beta testers by the way, again: info@o-g-sus

I did it before, I will do it again :)
Excellent drum machine, but you had me worried there for a while...

  • Awesome update thanks!
Sampler sounds like a great addition can't wait.....

Having the ability to route the different tracks through AUM via separate IAA nodes would be my next ideal feature after that :)

Thanks for the nice words :)

How would you use the different tracks in AUM? I mean ED already has built in effects.
Nevertheless you would like to use the AUM compressor, etc.? That would be interesting to know ...

Seperate record to AudioShare would be better. Need the seperate tracks recording, but never use iTunes and a computer linked up.

  • Amazing app. Thanks for the update.

ED has some great effects yes but it opens up lots of possibilities with IAA and AU effects too. Plus connecting each output to recording directly through to Ableton Live and all the options that brings which I'm doing more and more with my iPad now AUM is here. Recording separately to Audioshare is also ideal for working with other apps.

I'm about to mod my Volca Beats to do the same, separate the track outs. I think for Live playing it adds a great amount of control.

Ok, I hear you, it's on the (after the sampler) list  Also recording separately to Audioshare should not be a problem (right now that's not possible).

Haha, was thinking of modding my Volca Beats this way too

Ok, it's on the to do list

  • Many will disagree but have to say:
Don't want another sample based drum machine (they are already many out there and unfortunately some great ones are heading to abandon-land)
I'd like to see some features ,focused on the true power of ED (drum synthesis) like

    • ADSR envelopes (pitch, filter, amp) on separate menu to keep ED's great-easy-to-use interface
    • MODulation Matrix ( velocity , LFOs midi CC or even noteIn to modulate everything)
    • More synth engines to emulate more sounds or materials (wood, plastic, metallic surfaces)

Of course as an IAP for supporting the dev!

Enough said , congratulations on the update! Now ED runs smooth and proud , perfectly synced with Link or IAA inside AUM !

Excellent update. The Jam screen is much improved! Really enjoying elastic again.

    Thank you @magnum38! Great job!
    gave it 5 stars.

    Hi Korakios,

    good point!
I don't want to "replace" great sample based drum machines like DM1, Patterning or iSpark, or similar. Ableton Link gives us the great opportunity to use them all at the same time, playing perfectly in sync together. But I got asked so often about a sampler option, and to be honest I deeply want it in there myself ;)
But nevertheless there will be other synth engines coming. I would like some physical modeling (should be able to make wood sounds, etc.) in there, we even started with it once, but CPU consumption was too high. Be sure we will do another try on that.
The other things you listed make all sense to me too and might be incorporated too in the future. It just takes time, we are a 1.5 guys company, so not that much man power ;)

Nice to hear and thanks a lot!!
Rating really helps the app and it's listing in iTunes, so very apprechiated

  • OH Wow! I had to re-read that twice... SIX seperate drum channel recordings! Now that is really setting the bar for other apps to follow, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

    Lifesaver Fruitbat,

Congrats on the update and good to hear you are committed to your baby. In case you are keeping track I think the record to AudioShare etc or any option that IS NOT via a computer/iTunes is an enormous issue/plus etc.

  • Great app, 5 stars already, by the way...
Seperate audio track recordings is killer. Thought at first this meant seperate audio channels out, IAA, AB wise. That'd be killer too for the way I'm working these days

  • For export options please do consider dumping iTunes FileSharing and replace it with iCloud Drive/Document Picker. It will make it easier for us to export files to places where we love to keep em, like AudioShare, DropBox, Google Drive, iCloud etc. An additional option for 'Open In...' to send the exported file directly to another app will make us all happy too since we don't have to do temporary saves of the exports :)

I will give Elastic Drums another shot. It's been way too 'sluggish'(almost feeling non-realtime when tweaking parameters) for me on my iPad Air 2, iOS9.3.1.

As for 'Sampling' there is still room for more :D

Yeah Volca Beats mod doesn't look too hard...I've already started on the Volca Bass midi out mod, then I'll do Keys and Sample next ;)

I always thought that other than for Kymatica the audioshare/Aum devloper, recording direct to Audioshare is impossible for another developer due to iOS restrictions (you'd have to use some kind of "open in") but multiple outs would solve this so that you would route through AUM which can write directly to Audioshare.

  • just rated it 5 stars, so happy to see this app growing

'sluggish' on an iPad Air 2 ??? No way, then there was something going completely wrong. Give it another try, it should work really good on your device

  • @magnum38
5 stars earned. They'll become 6 when we will be able to record on tap instead of lifting our dirty fingers from the pads

I did noticed that on my air 1 ,about a month ago (can't be sure) where I updated ED and regretted . It was laggy almost unplayable. In this version it's way better. You should try it!
