...and my cuppa tea has gone cold ..
upping the buffer in Aum to 256 from 128 has solved the glitches..
yeah thats the hard part...:-))
I made a "Silent" kit so that when I'm using Patterning only with MIDI-Out to another app I don't have to pull down the faders and don't have overhead of a bunch of samples. Every instrument is a single empty .wav file. Here it is in case it's of any use.
[Edit: scroll down for a slightly more efficient version]
As well as the amazing MIDI features , loving the file export update . Just spent a very happy hour making loops in Patterning , exporting and opening in Audioshare ( perfect ) and then importing into Blocs Wave for mash up heaven . Really , really good . Coupled with Moog 15 and aum I'm in iOS heaven
I only got this last night, and played around with the update earlier today. Was mostly connecting midi-out to various synths. I solo'd each and thought it was just playing a given synth on that channel and not mixing it with built-in kit samples. Am I wrong? Do you have to have a silent wav file in order to not mix with the built-in samples... like you have to do with Soundbow when connecting to external midi sources?
You can just pull the faders down in the mixer. However, you will still be loading whatever kit you select into memory, and still be triggering the samples, which takes processing overhead. That's why I created the Silent Kit I uploaded above.
I'm half hoping there's something I missed that is a simple bypass for all kit sounds. If so then I'm sure someone else will chime in.
hope so too, but thx for the silent wav dl.
Its playing back audio regardless, if there is no dsp going on it would use the same amount of resources would it not?
Wow. Why did I wait until now to get Patterning? I am very fond of Elastic Drums, SeekBeats, and the criminally underrated MoDrum, but I suspect this will be my go-to electronic drum source for awhile. Elegant and wonderful app.
I don't know, you can tell?
I'm just innately perverse, I guess.
@wim, thank you for the empty wave file placeholder!
I'm giving the developer a virtual handshake for the midi learn alone. Patterning has just become my number one drum app.
Mister Cage quietly applauds you.
The size of a sample is a function mainly of it's length and whether it's stereo or not. The silent kit is loaded with very, very small samples of complete silence. So, each one takes up the minimum amount of ram, and since it's very short, the minimum amount of processing power (should be very close to zero). Add to that the idea that you don't have to pull down the faders to silence it. Since nothing is going through the FX either, CPU hit should be little to nothing added there either.
New version with the FX pots pulled to zero to remove added dsp overhead.

@benkamen ,
Any chance for editing the assignment number on midi configuration on next version? Because some apps not allow for different cc number.
Ok how do I set the output channel in patterning? It should be simple but it's driving me nuts!
Holy crap yes!
Anyone else not having the Audiobus remote controls show up for Patterning on a second device?
Never mind! I found it, kind of embarrassing!
No. User sample folders (and folder import via iCloud document picker or Dropbox) was the update I was hoping for ... For how good the app otherwise is, and for it being tailored to one shots and drum hits, it's surprising this isn't already implemented. Hopefully we'll see it in future...can't be my workhorse drum machine without easy access to organized folders of my sounds.
what did Ben say about it?
same sound but only half as long
And , you know, only from one channel, unless, you know, you had some way of moving the sound from one side to the other and so on which would be good for sure....
Erf? some sort of pannerning? Huh
IAA audio sync to Auria Pro.
Zooming taken 120 bpm after 40 seconds.
Zero latency almost,
I guess 99.995 % accurate on every beats time lag and 0 % deviation on each beat lagging.
Btw, this is port 1 out of 8 ports, if you are timing the master, time lag on master is large. So provided info here on preparing single track audio recording. When it being recorded that time, both master and port 1 on separate 2 IAA audio tracks. Remember, when it comes to syncing option, choose IAA first then midi sync. IAA should be more reliable and accurate, Patterning provides you both, so choose IAA first. You can verify yourself now. Patterning is awesome.
Here's a bonus sample. The sound of one hand clapping you can import to the silent kit.
@benkamen ,
The first bar of kick and last bar of kick are connected. I don't know it is a bug or not? See photos. When I have it changed to snare track view, I can see those 2 bars are connected. But the Patterning demos has no those 2 bars, only a normal 1 bar instead. Can you verify?
This kick photo shows nothing on the 16th bars, but actually it is the same file with the same kit compared to the above 2 photos. I change nothing from it only the view.
@benkamen ,
The second track view seeing 3 bars connected on the third track; however, when viewing the third track it is not the case.
