@benkamen I know this can be done with a 'work-around' with increased number of steps but it would be nice to see 'ratcheting' implemented on a per-step basis. Basically it would subdivide a step into a set number of steps and re-trigger the sound.
+1 on racheting
I love patterning but had to give up using it. I use Beatstep Pro as master clock running various iPad apps, DSI pro 2 sequencer / arp and Dominion 1 sequencer / arp. Use midi merger box to send in clock from beatstep pro to run drum apps and notes from midi keyboard to play synth apps, obviously on different midi channels. Was finding patterning would suffer from random drum triggers etc. Had time to test out briefly yesterday and all seems fixed following latest update but was only a very brief test. Anyone else out there able to confirm this type issue is fixed? Hoping so as want to use patterning more in my workflow.
@soundklinik
IAA transport should be there if you are using the main output of Patterning (regardless of whether other channels are connected on their own). If that's not the case, let me know for sure!
@Lurcher the MIDI clock stuff was entirely re-written for this update (part of why it took me 6 months), so it should be fixed! Let me know if you have issues.
@Samu It's a cool idea, might be a bit difficult from here, but it does sound fun...
Is it possible to not remove any sounds from the main if you use more than one output ?? I i single out my kick on a seperate channel it drops out from the mainout too or is it just me ??
Thank you, it is there, I was loading the individual tracks WITHOUT the Main output track.
All's great in patterning heaven
The individual tracks are great too. Different FX per track...Thanks.
That;s the intended behavior. Otherwise you'd have double kick!
Oh wow how do you set the cc numbers in animoog, i tried but couldn't find a way to punch them in, or did you use midi learn somehow?
Noted, thanks
Go to: Setup, click on Map CCs, click on ENV/MOD will open that page.
Punch number in by double tapping red color square of that specific parameter. Doing Patterning CC, you must turn the Patterning midi configuration automation button on one bye one. If you on all the CC buttons, you can not do mapping on Animoog, because Animoog will listen all the coming in CC messages. When doing Animmog, you not only need 'Map CCs' button on 'On', also need to have a saved 'Save/Load CC MAP' file for doing it. Doing one number and saveing one number, keep going to finish the setup.
Midi Learn in Animoog means turn that 'MAP CCs' on 'On'; lighting it on.
Great thanks!
Thanks soundklinik all seems to be working great for me!
@benkamen Is there a possibility of us getting (whether in app purchase or otherwise) more than 8 tracks in a future update? This has become one of my favorite apps. Nice work!
Did they add the ability to have sequences in a song use different kits?
not yet, but if they did that and also allowed more than one kit to be played at the same time like the patterns were tracks it would all be over very quickly... life as we know it on this planet would end.
ps. of course I requested this, if anybody else wants it please let ben know!
Why limit the ideas to 'one kit per pattern'? Extend it to different sample on every step
Shouldn't the 'sample name' be treated as just another parameter such as Cutoff, Tuning etc. ?
I know this is hard to implement in the UI and I'm too used to the 'tracker style' thinking.
Other automatable parameters that would be neat would be Sample Playback Direction (Forward & Reverse) and Sample Start-Offset.(Or when 'slicing' is implemented, 'Trigger a Slice Number').
in my dreams
Abu Dhabi in Patterning again? Hehe
That is what I love about sending multiple tracks out to Cubasis, I can just skip through various drum kits while it records. Now I am just pining for an AU of Looperator to use in Cubasis. 8)
Are you implying that this is an outrageous dream? Cmon.
no, it's just a dream .
I'll be honest, I'm a little worried about Ben, I'm not sure he really knows how great the app is. When I saw it go on sale after the update I couldn't believe it... I'd pay whatever his asking price was for features like Samu listed!
Bing, bing, bing (bloody-incredible-not-gonnahappen)....
Daft question, I downloaded the patterning kits a while back but couldn't figure out how to import into patterning from dropbox. Could someone explain?
Yeah, I couldn't figure out how to do a bulk import either.
I didn't do a bulk import, only individual kits, it is possible to bulk import if you import them into the GoodReader, zip them and send them to AS and unzip. At least is only one operation to import. Don't know if you can send multiple kits to patterning at once.
I imported them via Dropbox and then "open in". If it doesn't work for you open them in a file manager...and then open in patterning...
How do you set time signature in patterning other than 4/4?
song page -> timeline bar, left side.
it only affects a couple of things : default length of timeline blocks, and export audio default bar length. (i think that's it). the loop settings are not actually affected by the time signature, as they are independent from one another.
Great thanks! I know about the loop setting but it should avoid me having to do math to do stuff in 5/4 hopefully, even though it isn't that hard of math!
