Anyone else not having the Audiobus remote controls show up for Patterning on a second device?

Yes but they came back when I moved to the 'song' panel inside Patterning.

    @benkamen ,

The first bar of kick and last bar of kick are connected. I don't know it is a bug or not? See photos. When I have it changed to snare track view, I can see those 2 bars are connected. But the Patterning demos has no those 2 bars, only a normal 1 bar instead. Can you verify?

This kick photo shows nothing on the 16th bars, but actually it is the same file with the same kit compared to the above 2 photos. I change nothing from it only the view.

Could you show a video of what's going on ? Cause it seems like it's operating normally for me. Is it a visual bug only ? Or is the audio also affected ?

  • @gonekrazy3000 ,

I suspect it is a visual bug on IAA. I was doing Patterning on Auria audio slot that time.

I inserted demo presets, things was fine, but not on my new preset which uses internal sample kicks.

Oh ok. Don't own auria so can't test that out myself. I found a few bugs of my own in AUM. For example. If you have all multi outs on 8 tracks. And you add a synth on the 9th. Adding Aufx:space on it causes patterning audio to glitch out with crackles. Even adjusting buffer doesn't seem to completely stop it. But using AUs absolutely no glitching happens. Seems to be contained on the Au:fx plugins too cause frekvens in IAA doesn't seem to cause it to freak out.

  • OK OK OK, usual abject disclaimer of lame-assery in the brain department, but could some kind soul confirm that I cannot have one kit play, say, Pattern A and then a second altogether different kit kick in (ha!) and play Pattern B....?

I can confirm that you cannot do that. It's a really cool idea, but it's not easy to do on my end, which is why I haven't done it yet.

@Kaikoo2 I think I know what's happening... the velocity on those steps is very very low, but not zero... so when the track is condensed, it shows it as being "on"... and when you show the detail for the step, the velocity is so low that nothing shows up... I thought I had fixed this but I guess not. On the steps in question, pull the velocity inwards all the way and it should fix it.

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback. It's hard to prioritize which features to work on and I know people have different workflows and ideas about what is important. I do take all suggestions into account, but also have to balance the reality of trying to make things in a reasonable amount of time (and this update took me way too long, like 6 months). If you would like to be supportive, and are so inclined, consider updating your reviews on the App Store.

I have a few bugs to fix, and a pretty awesome new feature coming in the near-ish future (sometime between now and 2019). If you've experienced any issues, please shoot me an email -- crash logs only help me so much.

    *****!

  • i regret that i only have 5 stars to give

To be honest I wasn't expecting ( or hoping for ) an update as it's always worked perfectly for me , and was one of my favourite apps already . The new features take it way beyond my expectations , and it's become an essential app in my workflow

I'd already rated it with 5 stars , only wish I could give it more :))

  • Sorry, man!

10 fingers can push only 5 stars.

  • Might be good to update reviews anyway since the app store by default only shows reviews for the current version. Not sure if it helps, but it seems like it would.

    It's a modern design classic.

A beautiful app in both form and function.

Up there in my book with Samplr, Animoog and Gadget (and much better looking than Gadget).

    Congratulations and thank you.

Fair dos (as my Mancunian auntie would always say). Just happy to remove a nagging ("maybe I'm missing this...") from my limited brain pan. Still a brilliantly elegant application.

  • Am I the only who was expecting the addition of MIDI-control to include being able to trigger and record notes/samples? As well as switching between write and erase modes? Still one of, if not THE, best drum apps out there.

no, I was looking forward to this as well, but the dev knows we want it so maybe in the future?

Oooh! Teasing with more update awesomeness! Don't play with my heart!

  • This app is mind-blowingly good. What are the chances of squeezing all that into an AUv3 window?

  • edited June 2016

y'all figured this out quick! Reading this thread was inspiring.

  • Guys why is it that I leave 5 stars and then I come back and they're not checked time after time. Is there anything else to do?

  • Question:

Is anyone else having issues with audio quality?

I am using Patterning into Cubasis?

I am not sure if it is Patterning or Cubasis?

The sound sounds almost "bit crushed" or "weak". Depends on which.

I was just wondering before I delete the whole app and reinstall.

    Gracias

  • Oh, I did do a review on app store for this of course.

I haven't noticed it with Patterning , but I get this with Elastic Drums and iSpark

    Really?

Tell me, what are you using them with?

    CUBASIS?

If so, that would be insightul.

I haven't got Cubasis , but just playing them solo I notice the sound quality deteriorating after a few minutes . Haven't checked since updating the iOS though

Figured out my question. This rules so much! Like damnnnnnnn.

Is it possible for Patterning to play long notes? I've got it sending midi to a long sustain bass synth in Mitosynth and I've got decay all the way up but it's still just playing a short bit.

    The answer is 'yes'.

There are few variables control this.

    1. Your bpm
    2. Your patterning step duration
    3. Your patterning attack, hold, and decay time.

I did you full test on Animoog, to adjust its envelope with cc mapping one by one. Then change step duration to a whole note with one step on grid. It plays nicely with midi configuration sending.

  • @raindro The "gate time" for MIDI notes in Patterning is, iirc, 50% of the step length... regardless, I think you'd want to set the release time to be long, rather than the decay time, as once the note-off is sent, it'll go into the release phase of the envelope.

  • edited June 2016

I had that Animoog photo assigned to the wrong one. CC 72 should be the decay number. ;)

  • @benkamen , is it a bug that once I load patterning on more than 1 channel, the IAA logo and play bar disappears? No longer possible to fast switch :'(
Also (IAA) is only visible in pattern mode.

Thank you for updating the best drum machine :)
    Redid my 5***** rating
    THANKS
