Same with hardware. Some synths just look sooo sexy. My wife thinks I'm mad when I drool over music gear, but then I remind her of the shoes she keeps just to look at! Lol
OT: Brambos? The creator of tuareg?
Yes, that would be moi!
Thanks guys !!
One of the best software ever in my opinion, very similar to samplr
This track was made in 2001 with Tuareg
Thanks for your amazing software

Is this it?

yep, would be so cool to have this on iOS
+1
You can turn off all of that wizardy nonsense and animations. If I recall, it can be found in your device's General settings.
@JeffChasteen Thanks but sadly the wizardy nonsense is only the tip of the iceberg. It's the moving background layers that make me feel particularly seasick and the shiny dots moving around the controls also don't help.
These can't be disabled under General settings
I requested a plain black background skin, but maybe the wizard refused my idea.
May as well take this opportunity to ask again, anyone know if Samplr has input monitoring? (or how to enable it!)
No input monitorig in Samplr, nor you can trim samples. I never use it for live sampling, for me Samplr works best with pre-made loops.
@jooga1972 cheers.
Input monitoring would be a nice option, although there are workarounds for some situations.
The ability to trim samples would be very welcome too.
Add in some automation of the channel controls and I think Samplr would be the bestest app eva!!!!
I don't miss much on monitoring through Audiobus in parallel, except I have to stop the source manually - as mentioned it might be demanding in a live situation.
But with properly cut files SamplR is stellar, beats any MPC handsdown.
Just make a small midi file with 16 hits, trigger your favourite kits, load the audio in SamplR and you have 16 virtual pads on the timeline to be played velocity sensitive.
The gesture recorder replaces midi...
cheers, Tom
Imagine if you could set markers to controller pads or keyboards!
Input monitoring can be had using AUM or AB if I'm understanding correctly what you're asking for. Also no, there isn't destructive sample trim but the in and out points can be set within seconds with transient points. For destructive editing exporting to audio share does the trick.
Live sampling is very easy via audiobus. The problem is that it doesn't correspond to the tempo and is slightly behind. I'm sure link will take care of that. Also import bug will surely get sorted which will take care of it too as sampling can be done in I.e. Loopy and then exported directly to samplr while the session is running.
The 16hits is a great trick except if you want sounds that have a longer than 16ths decay as anything longer than that gets truncated.
I picked the number 16 just to match the MPC's pad count.
But that figure is in no way related to a 1/16 of a bar - the 'sequence of single sounds' is intended to be triggered manually, but never run.
It takes advantage of SamplR's time based auto-slicing as an extra convenience feature.
The decay of individual sounds may be as long as needed, shorter samples will simply decay faster (empty space after the sample is ignored)
@OscarSouth why would I add external gear, if I can tap samples right on the screen ?
(an even record the tap sequence with no additional effort ?)
Opposed to a MPC there's no midi sequence to tweak later, which I wouldn't do anyway.
(I'd just re-arrange the audio in the DAW in case some new groove ideas appear)
cheers, Tom
Only you can answer that question.
I, myself, would find it very useful in my own performative use cases
@Telefunky I was referring to when one triggers samples in arp mode. If you're in slicer mode your timing better be more than perfect unless you're after naturally wonky grooves.
Presumably going for 8 samples rather than 16, but playing triggering 16ths with the arp helps? Or is it monophonic?
Why are you guys still discussing a dead app? Leave the corpses to the lord and etc. etc.
The app Lord is dead. Long live the app Lord.
Reverse psychology ain't gonna work here. Just patience.
Anyhow, this app is one of, if not the most alive app I use. To me cubasis, auria, and the rest of the static lot are dead. I'm sure there will be folks who still put them to good use but I can't get them to breathe. I guess it isn't a fair comparison as samplr is an instrument like any other physical instruments out there.
I think it is more arp division than how many slices there is. I do find it quite confusing.
And yes, it is moniphonic as in one slice at a time in arp mode.
Thanks. Makes sense.
This is a good point. I know exactly what you mean. I even find this with Gadget sometimes.
Apps you can really play include (IMO):
Samplr
Infinite Looper
Figure
Genome
Patterning
And of course apps like Animoog, iElectribe, Elastic Drums.
Fair but unfair. Samplr is an instrument. Auria is a desk. (As you well know
) All good.
I am a necrophile, I pass many hours and diddle many samples inside the husk of Samplr.
Fair points. I just find Animoog is an instrument I've had fun learning to play, while it feels like Samplr fights me all the way lol. I do know it's me though and not Samplr that's at fault
