  • Some really inspiring videos in this thread. Nice work, folks!

  • Automation for all parameters (including effects) is on top of my list.

  • I dusted this off and gave it a spin the other night, still can't seem to get anything usable out of it. Obviously me, and I can see the potential, but just can't do the thing.

  • no problem - if it doesn't fit your style or workflow, there are more than enough alternatives
same applies to me and Ableton, simply not my cup of tea ;)

  • Samplr is the main reason im still running ios 8. Anyone tried if Samplr works with ios 10 ?

  • Samplr on ios 10 is just fine for me.

Thats great to hear. Im gonna update soon. Thanks for answering.

  • someone else will have to confirm but does the Samplr copy/paste bug exist on 8? better check before you update

I don't think anyone is demanding anything. Just wanting a great app to be ever greater. :) For me, sample trimming alone would quadruple my usage of the app. Mostly to take advantage of the beat based slicing. Just being able to set the start point (like you can with the keyboard mode) from which to slice would work for me.

Or if the Audioshare integration was automagically round trip without ending up with 4 copies of the sample to manage (OG recording, OG recording in Audioshare, trimmed sample in AS, trimmed sample back in Samplr).

But as long as we're being wishy, I'll add the ability to turn off the quantizer in the delay and lfo effects so you can sweep around without the jumps.

Wait a second.. you can set an offset start point for a sample in keyboard mode! How the hell do I not know this, I've used samplr for probably 50+ hours and never use keyboard mode because I couldn't set the start point (well thought I couldn't). Eager to get home and check this out..

Do you mean the ability to record slider movements (etc) to the internal loop recorder? Or MIDI control of parameters so that you could record automation externally?

  • why not both

The copy/paste bug remains as alive and kicking on 8 as on 9 and 10 and as far as I'm concerned was also there on 7. Basically mr Alonso will have to sort it out, not Apple.

Having said all that, the app is still very stable despite no updates. There is an arp bug where on restart, multi slice combinations get swapped around, I.e. the 1 ends up in a different place. Only if restarted so not a problem on a free running session.

Yes @syrupcore. My request was of the realistic kind but sure would be massive to be able to assign things to physical controls and hide them on the screen to leave more room for a larger waveform or other exciting things.

I'm being cautious about requesting too many things as I wouldn't like to lose current simplicity of use and one page operation. If new features take too much screen estate I'd hate to have to page surf. Mind you, long press option hasn't been used yet.

  • This is what i hate in software world - constant need of update this, update that. Dammit.

  • Damn you 2016

    lol, hahaha, LMAO,

  • There was a brief cameo appearance from the developer Marcos over on FB iPad musician group, he is still on it.

  • well John won't talk, I'm assuming that's because there 'is' something to not talk about hopefully.

  • Please Marcos, update this app with Link. I want to use it in live performance but MIDI sync too cumbersome and unreliable with this app.

The only their thing I’d like to see is the sample selectors at the bottom moved up above the sample window. They are too easy to accidentally touch.

    Thank you.

    Bump...but with more cowbell

Seriously, though...greatest IOS music app ever. It needs some upt’datin’

  • So sad this app is abandonware
Is still my fav, but one day it will not be available anymore and that will be a sad day.

Abandonware ... nope, doesn’t fit the definition for me.

I bought it for the features it offered at the time, it was (and is) great at doing that.

Sure, it could do with a spruce up but would I feel short changed if I never got a free update? Nope.

The term Abandonware is reserved, for me, for apps that advertised functionality that was never delivered or was fatally bugged.

I guess, in that sense, BM3 is more fitting due to it’s ongoing lack of transient detection. But it’s freeware so I guess not applicable. ;)

  • So this product never gets updates but is not abandonware, Beatmaker gets monthly updates and is abandonware, and because it was free for 3 days it is also freeware.

Funniest thing i have read in the last ten seconds.

I fear your tongue-in-cheek detector may need a new set of batteries.

I fear you need to re-read his post, he is very very serious, there is not a single hint of tongue in cheek ;)

  • Now my detector’s playing up. Probably needs recalibrating.

it’s Friday night/Saturday morning here I’m just amusing myself really.

I do, however, in “seriousness”’, dislike the term “Abandonware” because it implies the developer has entered into some kind of agreement to develop beyond something more than was released.

I buy apps on their immediate utility, anything else is a bonus.

  • I buy apps on their immediate utility, anything else is a bonus.

Then you are rare. There are no shortage of threads here proclaiming that supporting a developer and hoping for future Link/IAA/AU/fantasy feature requests is the way to go.

And "abandonware" is certainly overstated — you haven't abandoned Samplr; I haven't. But it's pretty clear that the effort required to update the app is not worth Marcos's energy. Which is fine.

Sounds strange to many, but an interface can make such a difference to the enjoyment of using an app.

Not strange at all! People are emotional beings; nobody is a 100% rational machine. Visual appeal (altough culturally influenced) is something that taps back into the deepest, oldest lizard parts of our brains. B)

    +1

You fucking reptilian, I knew it.

A shame, but fine. And we must accept that.

Damn, Marcos and your brilliant, brilliant app.
