Me too. I'm not sure why it should make such a difference to what is an aural process, yet I find having a visual EQ that I understand so much easier to get close to where I know I want to be, then close in with my ears to the sweet spot.

It's still visual.. You can see what number the dial is pointing at ;)

Yes and I should be used to the set up with having used some decent mixing desks over the years, yet my old brain needs all the help it can get. So logical or not, I just find some EQs easier due to a certain type of visual representation :p

Haha, yea a visual parametric EQ is one of the nicest audio tools to work with (along with a big graphic multiband!). I'm a big believer in doing audio work in stages (prep, track, edit, mix master), keeping each stage isolated from the rest and the first two stages taking as much work from later stages as possible. For this reason I don't like to use extreme EQ settings, just making as subtle changes as possible while I 'nudge' the mix to where I want it.

For this, Channel Strip is perfect and I'd take it over more in depth plugins anyday. For extreme EQing and mastering however, the precision and visual feedback given by an in depth visual interface are essential to me.

  • The channel strip effects are amazing, definitely pro grade. Better yet, they run quite light on the CPU. One thing I miss is the ability of setting the slope for the lo and hi pass EQs, but you cannot have everything.

Just watch the videos for the desktop versions, there's plenty of really good ones on YT. The plugins are identical to the desktop versions.

    Okie cokie, will do. ;)

  • I bought Auria Pro in the sale, was looking forward to using the channel strip and getting better mixes, Have imported MIDI and audio for a track I did in Cubasis, unfortunately I now have a blocked ear and cannot hear properly, so please stop teasing me talking about the EQ's :D

I think I'd better avoid importing anything into Auria Pro until Rim can take a look at this issue. I can't risk having a blocked ear right now. Thanks for the warning

  • FYI on Auria support for iOS10. Rim recommends holding off on upgrading to iOS10 if you're depending on Auria. He has a fix in place, but it won't roll out until after iOS10 is released....

Indeed it is, albeit with a few seriously irritating flaws which never get fixed. The trade off, is you can use Fab Filter plug-ins, which make a huge difference. Alas, FF stuff is not on sale at this time.

Auria Pro updated version 2.11 is extraordinary stable, if you mean the FF presets name not showing up on reload, that's been reported for some time now and on their to-do list, I would not regard issues like that 'seriously irritating'.
    Cheers

Edit: btw. just save the preset as your own to recall it.

  • CCS2, quote not working for some reason.

As you say, the FF problem and others have been reported for a long time. They are always on to-do lists which never seem to get done. As for what is seriously irritating, surely that is wholly dependent on individual use.

Auria Pro is, by and large, an excellent app. It gets a lot right, and is well worth buying, especially at sale times. But there is this cult thing about the app and its esteemed developer, where some people think legitimate criticism - by customers - is to be frowned upon.

  • On sale, no brainer. At least IMO. And....... Just recently I've been using the psp stock channel strip for some things, (even though I have a good number of the FF and PSP IAP's) and damn does it sound good and the BW limiter is amazing.

The channel strip IS far better than folks (self) give it credit for....I don't know about any cults, what I do know is that at this point in history Auria Pro is the polar bear's privates as regards having a recording studio on my iPad.

  • I understand @Zen210507 completely, but remind him that the sometimes oblivious devotion to a piece of kit/software isn't the domain of just us Auria fans.

DAW's in particular seem to breed this phenomenon. Logic users will be evangelical about all the wonderful things Logic can do that ProTools & Ableton Live cannot and, of course, PT & Ableton users say the same about their particular fave, pointing out the deficiencies in Logic.

I have Cubasis, great DAW, and Garage Band is a great app for young musicians just getting into recording. Auria Pro however is just that, a pro level DAW.

A few days back I was kipped out on the couch working with some older analog rhythm track submixes imported into Auria Pro. Just plan to put some overdubs on them, so I was just tightening them up a bit with FF Q2 & C2, when I got a call from a friend who's a musician/producer.

When I told him what I was doing he was blown away. I'd told him about Auria and iOS Music Production before but I think some people hear "iPad" or "iOS" and picture a toy; just some gimped underpowered keyboard-less laptop with looper apps & 808 drum machine app.

I'm going to text him about the sale & probably a few others too. And if you're a serious iOS musician/producer, a forum regular, etc. and you don't have Auria Pro, this is a perfect time...
