Anyone know where I can activate Ableton Link. I can't find it but it should be there somewhere.
You can find it under the tools icon. Scroll down and it'll be there.
Just had a clattery muck about with it and Elastic Drums live. Potential Fluxpad purchasers please don't play this as it'll put you off.
@MonzoPro loved that!
@DrChris Found it. Thx!
Yep
Just saw this on the Music App Blog! Love the marketing videos. It really makes me happy to see more music apps that have adopted drawing as a primary interface. It just seems like such an intuitive fit for making music.
Also, um, as an app developer, I would be remiss not to mention that if you're interested in these kinds of "sketchy" music apps, I made a sequencer called Composer's Sketchpad that does something similar. It's more focused on composition and experimentation rather than loops and performance like Fluxpad.
Thanks!
Noticing a bit of weirdness - when I import or record a sample, it seems to make a copy, each time it's used on a track. So one sample I imported I now have 8 copies of!
Is this a bug, or just the way it works? Is there a way within the app to delete samples without mucking about with iTunes? I'm going to run out of disk space if it keeps this up....
Update - found it, if you swipe left on a sample you can delete it, which is good. But on reopening my song its doubled the number of copies of each imported sample, which is bad. This has to be a bug, I've now got about twenty copies of the same imported sample.
Reopened, it's doubled again. Tried deleting copies of samples - first it crashed, second time up pooped an error saying I couldn't do it.
Sigh....here we go again...
Seems like a perfect fit for iPen compatibility.
Maybe it should be renamed Tribblepad.
Or for the scientifically minded, Chromosome.
I've got other names for it at the moment, not printable on a family forum...
Update - removed one sample and all the copies went. Started again and it's fine again now, not making copies. Weird, weird, weird.
discchord has this video up on his site.
I will say it is a..... must see.

Erm. Haven't opened this sucka yet. Tempted to hold off. The tribble-effect seems like a bit of a flaw...
It's stopped doing it now. I deleted one of the samples, it crashed, and took the other 30 copies with it. Started a new project - but this time imported and renamed the same sample from Audioshare, and it's not making copies.
Maybe it's an issue with the Audioshare connection. Weirdness.
My ten pence worth: fun, but buggy.
Pretty much what the wife says about me etc. Will give it a go....
I love what it does - it's completely my thing. Just imported some very strange noises, which it's playing backwards, forwards, random start points etc. hours of fun. It's stopped doing the sample duplicating thing, as if it had to throw a few bugs at me first to show me who's in charge here. Not me, that's for sure.
Sorry to hear of your issues. I was a beta tester and am a sample importer like you and never saw the bugs you've encountered. Go figure....
In my dreams I have fluxpad and samplr linked together creating the most unearthly groove.
so you can play the samples on the pad on the bottom and record from there too? how does that work? is there a scale lock thing or all the samples triggered along pitch continuum?
That video is effective.
Definitely some unintentional oddness going on for me sometimes, like when I erase some notes but they still play and also Link gong a bit haywire occasionally. Otherwise double tick plus etc
Touché
Undo and erase is definitely not working correctly here. Sometimes it removes the lines but keeps playing the sound and other times the other way around. Some bugs here for sure.
Yep I had that. One sample kept playing even after I'd changed it for a different one, and erased all it's notes in the track!
Bugfest. I found that sometimes stopping play and restarting cleared the stuck sample and notes.
Having so much fun with this, would highly recommend despite bugs.
Also wondering If anyone else is getting the importing samples screen when using custom samples? My sample library is a little excessive which may be the problem. It loads for about 30 sec - 1 min every time I open the browser on an air1.
Yes despite the release bugs it's still a lot of fun.
Sometimes I find undo fixes the non disappearing notes by going back instead of erasing. Thanks developers for including an undo, makes a lot of difference.
Would love to be able to erase bits of lines with the eraser and not just the whole line, maybe a future feature?

needs to be able to delete the audio on either side of the trim markers
Yeah despite the bugs I'm glad I bought it. Being able to erase bits of the line would be excellent, and allow more precise editing.
Never know with a new app if it's going to be the first of many (release-wise) or if that's mostly your lot. I suppose that's a sensible reason for fence-sitting for a while, but rarely seems to make any difference to me....hope this one gets some tidying (and trimming) in the short-term....
I think you'll be safe here. As a beta tester, I watched the app go from a rough early version to a full-featured release in 2-3 months. The devs are responsive and committed from what I've seen. This app released with Link, IAA, AudioBus, etc right out of the gates rather than what we've seen from other devs where they release early and require a big leap of faith.
And this app is FUN.
