Never know with a new app if it's going to be the first of many (release-wise) or if that's mostly your lot. I suppose that's a sensible reason for fence-sitting for a while, but rarely seems to make any difference to me....hope this one gets some tidying (and trimming) in the short-term....

I think you'll be safe here. As a beta tester, I watched the app go from a rough early version to a full-featured release in 2-3 months. The devs are responsive and committed from what I've seen. This app released with Link, IAA, AudioBus, etc right out of the gates rather than what we've seen from other devs where they release early and require a big leap of faith.

    And this app is FUN.

Good to hear. Truth is I bought it on the basis of the IAA/AB/Link, not for the functionality, but precisely because that seemed like a statement of intent etc. That plus Mister @MonzoPro's enthusiasm. He's an old grumpus of the first order and one I have sat next to on the fence many times, so when I see him waving up at me from down in the water, wearing an unsuitable bikini, garish red lipstick, and shouting 'Cooo-eee...' I feel compelled to tumble in... :)

No don't cause they'll throw you to the Donald's errm, Ducks errm, Sharks....

  • can someone explain the percussion track..... is it that you can load up 7 drum samples into that one track and can these be custom samples or only kits 'from the app?

You select the drum knob, then click a pad to select one of the six drum sounds. You can then load custom samples for each pad.

  • thanks monzo, guess its time to try it out

Yeah, this is one of those features that told me these guys have thought through what they are doing with the app. It would have been so easy to just have the one long bottom pad for each sample/sound, but the six-pad option just makes my workflow so much easier.

I got in at the tail-end of the beta before launch. Lots of bugs at first, but it was astonishing how quickly they squashed most of them, and in a very short time too. I think there were 3 testflight updates in one day!

I don't know much about coding apps, but whoever is coding this one is definitely a ninja-coder. :)

is it possible to move samples around off grid after you've recorded them, like just nudge them etc..?

Other than quantize and unquantize no but with undo you can erase redraw and always undo to get back to what you had that was close

  • @RedSkyLullaby do you know how the midi is used in this app? I know it must be obvious, but I haven't a clue.

  • thanks red sky...... so the ability to nudge samples around after recording, and deletion of unwanted audio on the outside of sample start and end markers would be my chief feature request if you can call those features.

A nice touch is that you can change the pitch of the drum samples by changing pad playing position. So if you wanted you could have another 6 instrument samples.

No crashes at all tonight, and just had a gas playing it Linked up with Blocs via AUM.

Well this app got me to cut up a bunch of wavs into convenient sample size, zip em up and put them onto my ipad which is something I never get coaxed into doing so this must be a very persuasive app.

Can you quantize scene changes or are we Bloc-ed up on that end again? Maybe later on, maybe it's good to be denied the easy things, forces me to develop a skill.

Please develop said skill and distill it into three or four bites for the rest of us fuckers. Thx.

should have put that in quotes, sorry, my life so far has been a series of screeching halts at the border of Skill Development Land.

free fluXpad update with sample kits and tracks by Mouse on Mars & friends coming soon!

  • Look forward to that, the included samples are pretty good. Hope they fix the bugs too - haven't had a crash recently but still getting the stuck sample thing.

I think it just means the demo tracks were messed up. I noticed the names and attributions changed after the update.

  • oh ok, thanks

  • This app is a must buy, but the current update is crashy.

I could not trust it in a live situation. iPad Air 2.

That said, having fun with all kinds of samples, all kinds of ways. The crashes will get worked out, and you will know how to use it. It is a must buy.

I love dragging across the percussion pads on the bottom while recording. It's the best way to control pitch variation, as the rows above are too narrow.

These initial edge case-bugs are bound to happen with such complicated signal processing. Consider how much is going right most of the time.

I'm in love with this app, and I am looking forward to the many possibilities, especially with link integration.

Would love to see more maybe capability myself. I'd love to map this to iSymphonic. Am I missing something?

It may also be some tracks online somewhere of tracks made with app, not sure

Love your evident enthusiasm. Bought it and look forward to playing with it, but I can wait for the next version or two :) Really love the idea of iSymphonic....
