Have any of you guys gotten Addictive Pro to sync its tempo to a MIDI source and Start/Stop Arpeg? (in my case MIDIBus) I have it receiving MIDI NoteOn/Off, but zero luck on MIDI clock/tempo. No manual, so looking for help here.
Per AppStore description:
"• Support for virtual MIDI input connections.
• Multichannel MIDI Learn for external MIDI controllers.
• MIDI Tempo sync. Start/Stop Arpeggio."
I'd tune in for that.
Captain Late To The Party just arrived... OMG...
This thing is awesome... I amazed at how maliable it is. Can pinch and tuck bits right into any slot in the mix so easily. Bravo!
Will check this when i'm back in office next week, but if you disable "Ableton Link" in the Settings, MIDI clock should work.
Thank you for your input. Some really interesting points...
Absolutely in favour of Undo button! Today I destroyed a nice arpeggio cause I moved the wrong way the selection of the sequencer width for one track....
+1
I'm still grappling to get completely comfortable with this app. I was playing with using Dhalang MG sequencers to drive external synths via midi and I have to say that the sound Addictive Pro produces is noticely more rich, textured and more full than most iOS synths. Remarkable really.
I'm still struggling with the arp range select. Just when I think I've got the hang of it I'll mess up a live performance by dragging a line of notes across the sequencer. Wish this was easier to use.
Yeah me too, think this could be better implemented.
I do love this synth though. Very easy to get into compared with most synths and love the multiple randomizers.
It's my favourite synth at present - seems to do everything from fat basses to evolving soundscapes, with lots of live tweakability. If I was given an ultatum and made to choose just one synth for my iPad, it'd be this one.
Most of the time the arp selection works, but every now and again it goes wrong and I add notes instead, so I avoid messing with this section in a live situation.
I think it could do with a separate gap in the UI for dragging the edges of the selectors, some rotary controls for this which could be midi learned would also be nice to play with
Definitely - a couple of little tabs or arrows would work well.
Loving this synth and of course especially the arp.
I would like to see a "start all" button in the common tab though to join the "stop all" one. Do the individual "run" controls have a quantized start ? To me it appears not, which can be quite frustrating when you have a really nice polyrhythmic groove going on, save it, then return to it only find that groove is no more. Start all would solve this.......then you can use the step offset to lock into the groove that you want.
I'm also finding that with run already set when you press a key the two ranges do not always start together at the same point. One is randomly offset from the other.
Try it with Arp 7 Polyrhythm.
This could be linked to the key sync issue mentioned above.
Is MIDI Tempo Sync working or not? Link is disabled, and tempo sync is not working for me on two different ipads, different master clocks, etc.
Very late to the game...
I find this synth to be a thing of beauty. The synth engine generates some really interesting, harmonically rich timbres as starting points.
I'm finding the GUI to be really intuitive and nicely laid out. In-app help bubbles make learning the synth easy.
The arp is inspirational. There's so much functionality crammed into that GUI. The comparisons to Fugue Machine seem spot on to me. The great thing here workflow wise is you're using one app rather than two.
The arp can also work as a full featured trancegate. Pull up a pad preset, set Gate time to 0%, adjust Velo accent, Velo normal, ties, and the amp envelope in the Osc level tab to taste, and you have yourself a full on trancegate.
+1 to @MonzoPro's request to improve the selection of step ranges in the arp. It's pretty fiddly.
Also, I'd love some changes to the preset management system. I'm liking what I'm producing so much that I want to save nearly everything as a use preset. Never enjoyed sound design so much. Allowing for custom categories would be great. Having user presets mixed in with the existing categories means you have to remember what category you stored a preset in then recalling the preset involves hunting and pecking. I suppose you could use "other" since only the init patch is in there.
Key hold button doesn't seem to work unless I'm misunderstanding how it's supposed to work
Thanks @VirSyn and other devs.
@ecamburn key hold for the arp is in the arp page
Thanks @Trueyorky . So what's the key hold button for?
Couple of other requests @VirSyn -
Bluetooth MIDI input. You can obviously get MIDI from a Bluetooth keyboard to Addictive Pro via other apps, but it would be great to be able to go directly
More mod sources in X/Y graphs on easy control tab.
@ecamburn when there is no arp running key hold hold the last played note or notes. With arp running this is controlled in the arp page.
Hi,
I have a question: in the arp section in the trigger button I don't see the difference between "Standard" and "Key Sync". Anyone knows the difference?
@AlexB my understanding is that key sync restarts the arp from the start every time you press a key. The other modes the arp continues stepping through its series and the key press turns the sound on.
Ok understood! Thanks!
Hi @VirSyn , is it fixed the issue with bank selection?
I haven't still bought the app, because I need to know if it has this function, because I want to use it live with imidipatchbay
In any case I just bought the app, but it doesn't open. I deleted it and reinstalled but didn't work. IPad mini 2 with iOS 8.4.1
This baby is a preset making beast!!!!!!
Just had it playing with Modstep as AU synth Mama Mia!!!
What I've done is to place a number from 01 thru whatever before saving a preset and it places all your custom presets at the top of the list!
How can we backup our precious made presets?
Working now in Auria.
Can anyone tell me how to get presets from stand alone into audio unit?
Wish there was a way to decrease CPU dependency like there on Model 15. My Air 1 is really showing its age
