Addictive Pro - New from VirSyn

  • No manual, correct?

  • I went to go look at this last night, but then realized I never bought Poseidon Synth either. I'm a pretty good VirSyn customer apart from that - I bought just about everything else synth-related. But so much of it I've never used. This one looks great, I'd just need to research more to understand how it differs or improves upon the other fine VirSyn products I already have.

  • Sorry another question.- given the similarity to the original Addictive, is it possible to transfer saved presets?

I was wondering about that, too.

The two apps have the the same .fxp extension for presets. I brought a few customized presets over, and they sound pretty much the same on Addictive Pro as they do on Addictive Synth.

Update: The few presets that I brought over seem to sound better in Addictive Pro. Probably because of improvements in the sound engine.

The sound engine might Seem similar but it has definitely a redefined feel made to sound better. I can definitely tell the arps are just pure joy to play so many variations, patch after patch creation it is truly addictive!! But in a Pro sorta way :D :# o:)

I have the original Addictive app but I thought I'd purchase Addictive Pro and the sounds are absolutely sweet and very atmospheric. It's just a pity it doesn't support AU-X but it's still a great unique sounding synth.

The Dev literally mentioned that AU-X and Link is on the roadmap. and considering they just added Link to Laplace,Mersynne and Lorentz i truely believe them. Confused Virsyn for Iceworks. nevermind this line....

I don't :) I perceived mentioning AU was lip-service for the forum...if it does come it will be way out in 2018.

So make a decision on this synth on its merits today.

  • Can sound output be sent to a bluetooth speaker.?

  • Just finished noodling around with it and the 4Track Arp...really wonderful synth!

  • This thing makes real noise.

  • i need this to have link soon DX

  • Damn it, I'm going to have to get it aren't I?!

You won't regret it - there's a lot of fun to be had for the nine quid it costs...

    +1
And is there really no master volume control? It seems to have a very hot output. Tapping the signal meter only stops the sound and opens an about splash screen...

  • Volume is near the middle of the screen next to drive.

Right! Thanks for that! How could I miss that?

  • I like this one waaaaay more than Poseidon. I dig the sounds on it more. Seems easier for me to tweak the presets and get useable sounds out of it.

  • Maybe I am blind but I couldn't find how to press a key to run and arpeggio and keep it sounding without holding the key.I saw a button Key Hold but doesn't seem to work ( I press it a nothing happens).

  • Forget just saw there was a previous comment answering my question...

  • How i said, not too impressed yet by the video. We will see. It would like to see modulations of FX as well.

  • Really nice sounds coming from this. Spending a bit of quality time in ATM
I'd love to be able to sync it with either Modstep or Auria Pro to really take advantage of the arp but it doesn't want to play ball. @VirSyn in a desperate attempt to sync I loaded AP (addictive pro) into AP (Auria Pro) and the IAA bar covered up the 'tie notes' area of the arp. IAA didn't make any difference to syncing however. Tried to log it on the web site but it's a bit wonky at the mo' so I'm doing it here!
    +1 It's a great synth
    +1 for Link :)

it's one of the reasons I've held back from this so far, Link is so embedded in my workflow. Did you try "midi link sync" to see if that worked?

Another thing I'm not keen on Virsyn apps is preset saving. On most of their synth apps there isn't a user folder to save into, only categories which I find a bit annoying to work with. Is it the same with Addictive Pro?

In Addictive Pro you can save your presets under existing categories or a folder labeled "other" which only contains the init default preset.

Those who have purchased, and now own both, will you use Addictive Synth again?

Since I can bring over my all saved presets, I don't see any reason to use Addictive Synth again.

How do you transfer your presets from the old version? Can it be done just on the iPad?

  • Yeah, it really doesn't want to sync in IAA. Hope it gets fixed and also gets link as well as some more midi settings.

I'm using the iMazing program on a PC to transfer my saved presets from the old version (copying them first to the PC) and to keep everything consistent between two iPads.

    I haven't found an inter-app import feature.
