Sorry dudes, but, why have this Auria Pro thread been an headphone discussion instead?
Because we're all waiting for the big, good news!![:D :D](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
I have the HD650s, but personally I prefer mixing on Focal Spirit Pros. Subjective matter of taste thing, I prefer listening on closed rather than open phones.
You have to hear auria on something!![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
But more seriously, why are we even discussing these inferior listening devices ? They use an 1/8" plug on a CABLE, which has clearly been proven to be the reason that the music industry has collapsed. It has nothing to do with less educated musicians, producers, and arrangers, shorter attention spans, auto tune, MTV and then the fall of MTV, piracy, etc.
If only we had the COURAGE to use a lightning connector motown would still be churning out hits.
Let's focus on what is important and get the world back in shape.
I've switched to using IEMs instead of normal headphones. I've found my Shure SE846's to be much more accurate than anything I've used from Audeze, Focal, Grado, or Sein. Horses for course though.
Those are way out of my price range though![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
I'm a sucker for my ATH-M50x's...
I do have more 'high-end' head-phones available but they need dedicated amps to make them justice.
The ATH-M50x's area easy enough to drive with almost anything and still sound 'good'(at least to my ears).
AtH-M50s are like the NS10s of the headphones world!![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
well, my world anyway
I have the se846 and they are great, but for producing purposes I've switched to the Beyerdynamic dt 1770 headphones, absolutely amazing. If only there was a Waves NX type of app for iOS that simulates a monitors mixing room environment.
ATH-M50x's for me too. I love em. I can't afford anything 500+. Well I could, but then I couldn't by apps or other stuff.
I keep bugging the developer of CanOpener to make an iOS version. He already has an app and g in versions, would be great to slap that on the master of Auria.
That would be nice indeed an AUv3/AU-X plug-in useable with all hosts that support them.
I WANT that subwoofer. Let us know what you think of it once you get it
For mixes that translate I've had the most personal success with Mackie HR824 and Apple's iPhone EarPods. The EarPods aren't very comfortable, but for some reason mixes have translated very well from these.

Life changing, Oscar? Music was my first love, but the last time I could claim it was life changing was seeing Bowie do 'Starman' on TOTP.![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
Brother Skip
I do agree on one level, and an important one, indeed all our senses are subjective. It's an important part of being an artist/musician that we express our intrepretation to our audiences.
But- there really is a mathematical element when it comes to reproduction devices. These are there to reproduce what the artist, producer, engineer intended.
I know your are a visual artist - imagine someone looking at your art on a crappy little tablet; colors are washed out, details blurred - even though presumably you created on a referenced monitor.
I do events that almost always include live cameras and large sound systems; time is always focused on white balances lighting levels and pink noising the room - the idea is to get everything as flat and correct on scopes and analysers. While chroma may be tweaked on a poor quality video, or some channel eq on sibilant voice, the mains are flat!
So while every audience member may have their own preferences (Beats headphones, 18" subs in the trunk, chroma on their tv all gained out) -- when it comes to mixing it should be the artist adding their own color to the mix and not be tied to the color of any certain device.
With respect!
It seems we agree on all levels, based on your reply, i.e. I don't know what any one particular viewer listener is going to be using to view, listen to, or anything about the quality of their hearing, or eyesight... or, how their brain processes data.
That's why I think it's important to at least start out and monitor as neutral as possible.
All that being said, at the end of the day I've got no clue what that other person is experiencing or even if it's anywhere close to what I'm experiencing and intended.
For example, back to visuals. Some people look at the majority of my images and hate them. They say they're over-saturated, and unnatural, etc. Others are the opposite, they seem to love what I do.
I've really got no idea of the quality of the color red or blue is being seen the same by you as I see it, or want you to see it. Your eyes may have a yellowish cloudy tint from degeneration, or mine may. If it's mine, I would tend to compensate accordingly in editing even if I'm starting with a neutral base. Or, my vision may be exceptional and your eyes aren't capable of seeing the same qualities I see. Or, as you say, your device may be washed out.
All I can do is start neutral and and interpret based on my own taste based on my own biological qualities. When another connects, and expresses delight with key words in their description that match perfectly what my experience and intention were... its the best reward possible. Even better than a sale I think.
My point was that with so many variables that I have absolutely no control over, all I can do is at least start out calibrated to an agreed universally agreed to standard of neutrality.. do my thing, and then let the cards fall where they may.
Agree. You can also think of it as taking away problems before they become more problems. I have some ok monitor speakers. They are now in a really crappy position as life stuff has forced compromises on where I can have them. This causes no end of problems with unhelpful reflections. I can still make music, but my ability to balance my subjective hearing with my collective knowledge is highly compromised. Take away some of these problems and my subjective hearing (and how my mind comprehends and bases balance on my collective knowledge), becomes less of an issue.
All this gaining a happy balance though, pales into insignificance when compared to expressing and delivering the emotion we try to convey. A poor recorded great song or piece of music will always have higher value (imo) than a class leading recording of emotionless drivel![;) ;)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/wink.png)
the last paragraph pretty much sums it, @Fruitbat1919.
It's definitely going to change my life in at least one small way.. I won't have to load AUM in order to use Auria Pro!
Should come out at any time.
Yay, for the win! Can't wait.
In case I missed it - anyone know if standard Auria will be getting support for AU as well?
According Rim Buentas (the developer) the answer on this question is YES!
Rock on, thank you!
Curiously, the description for Auria Pro already aknowledges the update for 13/10 (today), while the one for regular Auria still says the last update was in june. So it seems that we that upgraded to Pro from regular Auria will have to wait a bit longer, but for you guys that purchased Pro as a new one, you probably already have the update. Please share impressions!
What I'm telling you is for some folks it's already there. Can someone confirm so I can edit the topic, please?
Downloading...
Nice! Time to go for OS10!
