Can you use chrome ios to do the firmware update web midi thing?
Nope, desktop only I think still, no web midi in chrome iOS still as far as I'm aware
@blocsxnovation I love the just released Circuit 1.4 update, however, I'm wondering if/when it will be possible to utilize Circuit Components directly from my iPad? One of the greatest features of the Circuit is the fact that it is standalone, i.e. Meaning not everybody that owns one has a computer. I have chrome on my iPad and most of my samples are on my iPad, all I'd like is to be able to connect Circuit to Components and edit/add samples via iOS...
yah i was hoping the 'big release' was an iOS app but that still seems niche, even in this market. very glad to change drum pattern lengths and looking forward to hearing the new patches. 8)
Try a dedicated web midi browser

Sorry, but I haven't use it for circuit yet
From what I understand, some folks have parts of the circuit editor working via that app but not sample loading. Wishing/hoping Novation will just contract with the developer of that browser app to update it all to work with their existing web app. Otherwise we'll have to wait; iOS Safari or Chrome might get web MIDI support around the time the Circuit 3 appears.
I am working on synth patch editor (and most importantly with option to load the patch parameters from circuit to get feedback ) but I'll take a look ( hack a bit ) at the usb data communication to see what's happening.
I am worried about the non plug and play connectivity on Windows ,where we must use special driver. And if there is data compression on the files there is no hope for third party standalone wav uploading.
As much as I was kinda upset initially about having to use a web browser for back ups, I have to admit it's slickly done. The new update giving us the Packs option to save everything in one file is most welcome. I still wish there was another standalone method to send our backups to the Circuit without an internet connection though. If nothing else, let us download a raw sysex file of the Pack that we can use any app to send to the Circuit.
Awesome update, I love how they continue to update the circuit from the ground up, it becomes more and more of a solid instrument with each update
I hope the instant pattern switching feature has a lock on it so that you don't have to keep one hand held down on it,
Hehe i tried fashioning a clip for the shift button at one time for session switching. Eventually gave up.
well that's awkward, maybe they can do something about that, who wants to hold another button down while playing with the different patterns... probably nobody, I'm sure it's just an oversight will put in a request
Yah would be cool to double tap the shift button and it changes color, or something...
Pattern-lengths on the 4 Drum lanes = slam-dunk update. Everything else is icing on a polyrhythmic cake. Thank you good Novation people.
Good stuff. Keep us posted!
yarr tis good! that is the real meat of this one. Makes for a whole other kind of music, was totaly needed. If only it could do 1/32 note length. Doubt that will ever happen though.
can the circuit do quintuplets now?
no
swing per track or global only?
while it's in pattern switching mode, what do the knobs control?
This is annoying, being iOS for these past few years means my laptop is still on XP and I can't update the circuit...
So I have to buy a new laptop to update my standalone instrument.....grrrr....

another Q, is it possible to delete all of the drums on the circuit an if so what does that bring the sample storage amount to?
The default sounds are pretty much all drums and percussion. I believe you can delete them all, and total time would be 60 secs with 64 available slots, with the default samples loaded you get around 28 secs available space and no slots, you have to replace the default ones in order to upload your own. I've not dug into what format they use, but they are measured in time so i guess the upload process will convert them to the required format.
thanks Andy, and do you know what function the knobs perform while in pattern switching mode?
and nobody has mentioned panning so I suppose there still isn't any?
They don't do anything in pattern mode yet, room for functions to be added methinks
, get your ideas and requests in for v1.5 perhaps ?
Nope no panning, it is something missing I feel, especially as there are not individual outs to allow panning using a mixer.
well panning made it into blocs, and launchpad app, hopefully the circuit is not far behind.
all i want is
panning
quintuplets
lock option for pattern switch mode
glitch, time shifting, frequency morphing, other fx to create movement assignable to those knobs in pattern switch mode so that you can switch patterns while effecting them.
