    He doesn't mention panning :p

yeah but novation have said they like the idea, I'd have to side with their liking the idea of panning rather than the naysayers dislike of panning as one makes sense and the other doesn't. We'll get there, it took the launchpad app 2 years, I think we're making good time on the circuit updates.

Nice workaround for pitching samples, someone else has done some circuit templates that have pads setup for melodic samples too.

  • yeah that's pretty cool

I have to agree, this thing is only going to get better and better :)

That guy doing the jam in Japan, lloks like me doing one on a Friday night in Salford, Manchester...except my backdrop is beat up cars and angry teenagers.......so my music is more angry and less laid back LOL

It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it !

absolutely! some people just like saying no, no to midi out, no to sample import no no no lol

Or some people just have different priorities. On any given day/week/development sprint, yes to A means no to B.

  • That lemur hack is brilliant.

  • Light offtopic, how about pads on launchpad pro in comparison with circuit pads?

    What lemur hack?

the video where he's using his phone to play pitched samples on the novation via lemur.

  • Thanks @syrupcore, missed that one, yes it's very clever, wasn't that a feature request too.

  • @knewspeak yep. Nice to see a workaround until they implement it (or in case they never do!).

I wasn't talking about the devs actually, sometimes people love to say no for nothing even when the dev wants to do it, it's happened with skram, it's happened with the circuit, the launchpad app, blocs wav, geoshred, etc... it's ridiculous. I can understand not using a feature you don't need but to cockblock other features... not so fond of that.

launchpad pro pads feel better but you really need to give them both a try, the units serve such a different purpose as well you know. the LP pads are larger, spongier and more responsive.

    There is also this :)

  • Lauchpadforios, when is the next circuit update?

I am working on synth patch editor (and most importantly with option to load the patch parameters from circuit to get feedback ) but I'll take a look ( hack a bit ) at the usb data communication to see what's happening.
I am worried about the non plug and play connectivity on Windows ,where we must use special driver. And if there is data compression on the files there is no hope for third party standalone wav uploading.

    Good stuff. Keep us posted!

Getting the synth engine patch via sysex and translating every parameter is 99% ready. The LFO's where tricky but it's done. Now I'll work on a patch management system to store the patches .I still have to translate the name of each patch ,which is included in the sysex dump but I don't think it's difficult.
Later I 'll try getting the sessions and since circuit dumps all sessions at once I have to split them (that will take time), unless I find a way to request a specific session.
I also plan extracting the synth patch from the session....
In the end I'll sneak to the sample management.
Some tweaks will be included ,such as playing chromatically the samples or playing with external controller each sample with each own pitch, release etch (aka sample flip)
The editor is written in PureData and the GUI is ready for the MobMuPlat app meaning it will work on iOS and Android tablets (no phones ).

  • wow korakios that sounds very cool, especially the sample sneaking part :)

  • A mini-modular, circuit expander....

  • Great video from Bo Beats which shows how quickly and easily you can put something together with just the Circuit

  • so does anybody know why the drum parts are linked like they are?

  • Less CPU overhead somehow I'm guessing. It allows for some neat tricks though, like copying notes from one track to another.

  • Maybe to make it fit the form factor, in order to have individual drum tracks would have needed another 16 pads for the parts ?

  • I'd also take UX into consideration, there's 8 columns of pads and it would be hard to squeeze 6 separate tracks into the patterns "screen".

As a person working in product management I can only say that the number of factors going into such decisions is always much bigger than users can imagine, so I believe there was a trade off here and if we got unlinked drum sections we would probably complain about some other stuff that we take for granted now.
