I agree with Mister T on this viz drums, BUT can't help but think I would end up replacing/adding drums altogether for my own things, unless playing live of course which I don't etc.
@Matt_Fletcher_2000 Wanted to thank you for your (very) straightforward explanation of how to record sound from the Thing into Big Boy. I know it's a very simple matter (to some) but running a terribly basic pattern and seeing it move the levels in AS made me happy.
To be honest it's much more complicated than it should be in my opinion.
In the old days every computer had a mic in socket and you'd just expect to be able to run a cheap audio lead out of one thing into another.
Ideally the iPhone's headphone socket would also double up as a mic in socket (although I'm sure there are plenty of good reasons why it doesn't).
(By the way, I expect that using the two big line outs on the back of the Circuit will get you better quality).
I don't think you need to change the sounds or add more sounds pre se, it more of a mixdown issue for me. Lower the volume of the synths some so they're not so loud in comparison to the drums. That will even everything out without having to clutter it up with MORE stuff.
Anyone looking for a novation circuit, barely used? Has breakout cables. U.S. and PayPal only. PM me.
Yes, thanks. By 'more' I actually meant more volume in the mix. I'll take your advice and lower the synths volume a bit next time.
When's your next Circuit performance coming out?
You want to end up with circuit sending audio, and both sending receiving midi from the big boy, Connect a USB hub to the big boy via a cck, then connect circuit USB to hub, uca202 to the hub, and then line outs from circuit to line ins on the uca.......open AUM, add a channel and select the uca202 as the input, you can then do what you want as far as effects, routing, mixing and recording inside AUM, and also have circuit midi clock synced to apps, use midi link sync to sync link only apps.
Yep. Have done exactly this with my Korg Volca. Works perfectly.
Just started working on a new one this morning actually. Best guess is 2-3 weeks. Who knows though, maybe I'll get on a roll this weekend and things go faster.
NOW he tells me
Hope to take baby steps in my Big Boy boots and get some confusion courage up to try this next!
Lol. Just wanted to share with forum members before I go the EBay route.
Well I would of if I hadn't etc.
would love an summary of how this is all set up
Will you lot slow down...got a mixing issue I'm trying to sort, taking me away from the fun.
Not sure if you're part of the Circuit FB page, but that guy has been posting there off and on the last few days. I'm sure you could ask him.
asked yesterday,
Pudding proof. Snapped by The Boy a minute ago in the Miami Aiport on our way to Gorda. Him playing at the Launchpad and me confused but noisy (as ever). Can't say the posh folks in the lounge look too impressed (nor Mrs. Goodyear...)
Music for airports?
I wonder how the upcoming randomizer will be different from this one
dearest Novation, please give us onboard intelligent randomization on the circuit....... thank you
Went through a fair few batteries on this thing in the past two weeks and happy to have done so, but more than anything it made me appreciate a lot of the apps on the iPad. Yes, the limitation is an interesting thing, but after an hour or two the constriction of it makes Gadget/IL/Blocs/whatever seem like an ocean after the pool....
Circuit into Blocs synced with Link to Midi is so good.
I look forward to that, but that feels like telling a man who has just mastered the stairs in his house that Everest is worth the walk
Who else has decided to get Isotonik's Circuit Editor Pro? (Not much time left at intro price, btw).
I just blew the dust off my Novation Circuit - yes, literally!
I should have videoed it with the phone, it had been sitting for weeks by the boxed-away Arp 3604p keyboard sitting on top of the Arp 2600 (that is currently minus a 4019 VCA) (but that's okay, this week I've built another VCA using more contemporarily available components)
Anyway, the Circuit Editor Pro software is rather interesting, and the circuit synth itself is now very appealing. Very capable indeed. I'm now very impressed with it and might start using it a lot more. Excuse me, I may be some time, I'll be back in a few months.
I have ponied up for it. Mainly for the randomizer. Of course still at the stage where I can't get things to save and am sure it's all broken when in fact my mastery of pushing two or three buttons in the right order is not there yet. Need a class and a stern teacher.
How much is it please?
What extras does it offer?
Ten quid.
