  • @Noirflux yes it was the touch, now I understand why you said I should of filmed it  If it was the live I would of brought it home with me

  • edited January 2017

But it is very similar to the live, just missing the timstretch, audio tracks, and clip launch mode. And probably other tweaks here and there.

    Which have similar workflows :)

PS: Happens to me too... I read stuff to excited about it and I often overlook the details.

    @mireko_2

Oh lmfao.Sorry I definitely skimmed through it out of excitement! I'm so hungry for information. Somebody feed me!

keep in mind that the Touch will also have those same features with the 2.0 software update: https://ask.audio/articles/akai-mpc-software-reaches-2-0

The only thing the Touch won't have is stand alone capability.

Cool. On a related note, my local Guitar Center has a used MPC Touch for sale. It is priced at $624US. I noticed it after Akai dropped the price of new units to $599. I asked a salesman about it over the phone. He wasn't aware of the price drop. After leading him through an online goose chase he finally was able to confirm the price drop. I asked him what the price of the used Touch would be. He replied that it has to stay at that price unless it doesn't sell, then they might drop the price. Well, after 2 months it is still sitting there. Lol

Good point, I should check my data

  • the cool thing about the mpc live is that it has all of that i/O that you would expect to only find on a computer without the computer.... usb hub, sd, internal upgradeable hard drive (ssd-able), personally I don't believe I will be hooking mine up to the computer that much.

  • For people buying this, how do you intend to use it in your set up?

I want to sample sounds into it and out of it with my iPad. I'm guessing I need something like the iTrack dock to make it work?

Definitely going to sell my Push 2. I was planning to keep Ableton software but I'm going to see how Gadget is with the new audio tracks. If I like what they have done, then I'm going all in.

yes! its very cool. I have a 32gb high speed sd card and a 120GB SSD sitting on my desk waiting for this thing to arrive

I will be using the mpc live as the hub, connecting the ipad via my focusrite 18i6 interface.
    https://us.focusrite.com/usb-audio-interfaces/scarlett-18i6

connect the midi between the two (focusrite has midi in/out connected to mpc midi in/out). Means i can seq ipad from mpc and use all the cool midi chord stuff and midi seq apps to seq mpc too.
connect audio in/out between them as well.
connect extra outputs on mpc to extra inputs on focusrite then back to mpc secondary inputs to use as fx sends.
connect my keystep to usb host port on mpc for arps and more midi seq
connect my midi guitar thingy to the spare midi input.
connect my mac qwerty keyboard to the remaining usb port for naming projects and samples (so glad this can be done!)

but in the day to day? probably only my qwerty kb and keystep will be attached fulltime

Lol a lot of connecting going on. It looks like a pretty hefty device. I like the midi idea and fx sends. I have the Komplete Audio 6 which I use just for basic stuff. It has served me well for the last 4-5 years but maybe its time for an upgrade :#

  • The Akai demo guy said in a video that they'll come "pretty much end of March" so we have some waiting game to do...
Maybe that's a safe date and they'll come earlier.
It's like they do with the battery. They say it lasts 5 hours but people have seen 7-8

I wonder if there are some battery conservation steps you can take cause I saw some said 7-8 and others said 5 (not akai reps) so there might be some adjustable power settings?

  • I can imagine that using all 8 audio tracks with timestrech will suck it up faster.

Awesome :D . This guy has been killing it with the demos. Going to need a vacation soon lol. I think this is the best overview I have seen yet. I know I'm definitely getting it. I can't think about it until closer to launch.

I would like to see more coverage on the effects. The XY grid is cool but I want to see what the full insert effects list looks like. I am assuming you can make/save your own presets in standalone?

Step sequencer looks awesome and the layering is so seamless. This thing is in a class of its own and seems like it just came out of no where.

I've already made my list of stuff to sell lol. I'm hoping I don't have to drop extra cash on it. I'm thinking this will be around $1499 CAD plus tax. The Candadian dollar is so low right now :(

    Umm video is private

  • Well I spotted it just when they uploaded it because it didn't even had 1080p :)) it was still processing :)
Probably they made it public by mistake.

It was a little more detailed on program edit & stuff.

Ahh bummer, would of liked to see that! Hopefully they aren't waiting until release day to make it public again.

  • I hope not. Everyone should see it. It is the most detailed I have seen yet. I want to read the manual so bad!! lol

Damn. That's the sort of stuff I want to see. I've stopped watching any videos about it because it's basically the same "look, magic!" high-level pre-composed demo each time.

Richard Devine playing his demo song from Impc pro on the new standalone mpc :open_mouth:

So looks like it supports impc pro projects

what I like about the demos is how each thing he's showing you has Never been combined in one machine before.... I'm glad he doesn't make us watch him sample reahnna or whatever that is from scratch.... but what he does show is the combining of sequencing, time stretching, clip launching, slicing, and most importantly hopping back and forth between all the modes without stopping..... and doing clip launching over the top of playing midi sequences if I'm not mistaken...... the only reference we have for something like this is Ableton live and push but nothing that is stand alone and hardware

on top of this you can plug up a midi controller to it and all without a computer, Imo it's looking good so far

Of course, they need to show what's new in under 2-5 minutes to keep people's attention. And it's a great way to highlight what's new and special about the box. I'm not bashing the demos, just saying I've seen 10 versions of the same demo at this point. Now I want to see it all done from scratch. Easy bits, hard bits, annoying bits, smooth bits, surprising bits... what's it like to actually work with this thing?
