Looks like Gadget for Mac will be launched today:

Now that Gadget 3 has been launched, that would make a whole lot of sense. The export to VST/AU for Ableton Live depends on those plugins.

  • I wonder what now happens to the plugins from the Korg Legacy Collection

  • Ha! Neat!
7GB of storage, eh? More than the iOS version, of course.
(No need to rehash the whole discussion about price. Too bad Korg didn’t provide iOS users with a further discount on the macOS version.)

  • I just want Lexington and Milpitas as AU/VST!

  • Ha ha they took the sale down. Can't handle the server load apparently. Im interested to see how they did the OS version but the update for iOS is bit a let down in regards to audio functionality. They really have to follow up on that quickly if they want to keep the momentum (AB input, better access to Waveform Editing)..

LOL, but that is a good sign if your servers break when sale starts!
    No demo to try?

Yes, but i see that very often in the desktop world.
Wouldn´t it great if Audiobus 3 break the Apple servers :D

As much as I would love Sebastian and Gabriel and Michael hit that success. A more graduated build up is better financially. Unavailability in the midst of the hype kills business. Just my point of view.

Of course i didn´t meant that serious. I also think that Apple have must have enough servers over the planet to handle that with ease anyway.
Back to Korg Gadget for mac, no demo?

Yep, no demo. Can't get a refund. Can't transfer your license.

    Way to go, Korg :(

  • I do wonder if the 'note editor' is more refined that the one we have in Gadget 3.0 on iOS?
(I'm not going to spend $199 just to test this).

  • edited March 2017

No demo in desktop land is a no-go (beside some big sample libraries maybe).
No chance of license transfer is bad too.
So they port that from iOS to mac as well :p
Maybe i wait for BeatMaker 3 mac version!

  • Currently, the KORG Shop is experiencing heavy access. Please wait for a while until the sale of KORG Gadget for Mac resumes. Thank you for your patience.

  • They make a shit load of money right now!
I would really like to know which market is better for them.

  • So, fake hype. Or is it real?

  • I love gadget, and I could even afford this, but I am having a hard time pulling the trigger. It does include all the IAPs, so that is an advantage.

But if I'm going to spend money on the desktop, I'm going to spend it other ways than duplicating my iPad arsenal. Examples of recent purchases include Ableton Live Suite, Virtual Guitarist (amazing opportunity for iPad, folks), EZkeys (disappointed).

The sale price pulls on me a little bit, but I don't see me fluidly moving back and forth to the desktop.

If I was more of a desktop producer, and I used a lot of desktop tools in my production, I think I'd really appreciate the convenience, and buy it immediately.

  • I'm gonna do it

  • edited March 2017

For Mac, no demo no buy no way, IMO. In order for me to re-buy their whole package again all in one go, I need to make sure that all their little gadgets function 100% proper for me in my desktop setup, all multiple sample rates, and not crashing, etc. I'm not paying 199usd to beta test.

  • @RulesOfBlazon said:

    Take one for the team?
    :)
I still think about it but i have to think if i use my U-he voucher instead and buy Bazille or wait for the new Heavyocity release at the end of the month.
But for sure is if i don´t buy it at intro sale i will wait for the next sale in a far far future maybe.

  • More expensive than Logic at full price. Hmmm ... now let me think about which one offers better value ....

It is done ;^) say what you will, but having the ability of going directly from my iOS device to the Mac and finishing in Ableton Live is a dream. So far I really like it FWIW

Nice! Tell us if everything works smooth.
Might i ask you if you have every parameter as automation inside your DAW (Live in your case) and if there is a good patch management system?

  • So far everything feels as smooth as it does on iOS. As far as automation, I just did a quick test automating a bunch of parameters on Lexington in Gadget and exported it to Live and all the Automation carried over to the Lexington VST in Live...

What do you mean by, "good patch management system?" You can access the Korg VST Patches via the drop down in each instrument like on iOS.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  • i need a windows version so bad :(

I mean the folder structure of the patch banks of the VST/AU Gadget´s.
In iOS i can´t export/import patch banks without i-tunes. On the desktop there it should be more easy to share patches, create custom folders, or maybe not. A reason i´m not beeing motivated to do in iOS.
I´m interested in automations especially since Logic Pro latest update let me use the MIDI FX modulators (mainly LFO´s and envelopes) to modulate every automation parameter of my plug-ins via "learn parameter".

How do you feel on Ableton Live Suite? Worth the value? For linear DAW I have already Logic but I see also the benefits of working with alternative systems like with Ableton ( I only have the Lite version and thinking of jumping the fence ).

Well, it doesn't seem like Saving a new Patch on Desktop get's saved to iCloud...however, all the settings to the Patch are carried over to the Synth, so you'll have to Save the Patch on iOS if you want to access it later. Not ideal...but I am sure they will update it so all Patches are saved to iCloud in the future

It doesn't look like they've improved Sharing of Patches as of yet...

Mmhhhh, i also don´t use i-cloud. That doesn´t sound too good for me yet.
What i mean is normally you should have access to the patch browser in the library or your documents folder.
So i could create folders and sub-folders and copy and/or export complete patch banks from each individual Gadget VST/AU version.
But i think then anyway you would need i-tunes to import that into the iOS Gadget´s.
Here i think Korg did a very bad management from the beginning and it won´t motivate people to share patches.
