  • I want to get "Intuitive" in there but the risk of sounding like a tosser is too high. ;)

  • Intuitive is one of those words you can try and say about a lot of apps. Really need to drill down into the USP of KRFT which is about "live control" or somehting. ...

  • Sure guys.
I understand about background drainage, just thought i would mention it, just incase there was a little bug.
    Certainly not a deal breaker
I love the damn app, keep up the fantastic work guys

  • The core selling point seems to be the flexibility to mould a control surface to your needs and tweak on the fly.

  • Some one suggested : "Modular Performance Sequencer"

nice! But maybe Custom Performance Sequencer.

The second I see modular I bail as it makes me think of modular synthesis which is way intimidating.

    Brilliant.

  • Another, somewhat related, question I had was: What makes KRFT unique and exciting?

I'm thinking of doing some more videos to try to show the power or KRFT and convince anyone on the fence but I'm not sure what to focus on. I genuinely think KRFT is a great way to compose and make music but it's difficult to convey that without people trying it! Ideas?!

I came up with "Modular Performance Sequencer", but to be honest i kinda feel the same about the Modular part. Custom is a really good alternative as it describes the personalizing options of the app, too.
But as i'm not a native speaker, i'm unsure which option is more commercial for the demographic.
I really like Custom Performance Sequencer, too.

  • @Alex fox I think you have to do a video of someone starting with a blank surface and just FLYING through things. Start with adding a drum loop and recording it with the cool quantization, then laying down some melodic parts and dials, etc. while switching back and forth to the surface to jam. Show people how quickly a musical idea can come to life when you have the opportunity to begin jamming out with only a small number parts.

  • @Alex fox I do see your problem. I was always trying to explain taking acid to people, but if you haven't already dropped some it's hard....in this case the Premium Feature (or what strikes you most initially) is the interface front of house and if you want to jam this is obviously cool, but it's still the uniqueness of the look (rather than the utility that gets you thinking, positively or otherwise at the outset). For me (me, me) the thing that made me buckle down and get past that 'first 20 minutes' after which the hooks are in, was the fact that in comparison to many other variations on this theme (however superficial that is, but superficial is all you have at the start) the amount of fiddling you could do with the sounds once you got amongst them is great and then that it has a good piano roll (which I didn't get straight away). None of which really answers your question; BUT it's all user research I guess :)

I think the mini jams are great. While I know most people will only be using one ipad at a time I think seeing a minijam with a couple ipads linked together would be fantastic and maybe get the point across in another way.

Also, I was actually thinking if it were possible on an ipad in landscpae mode to do two vertical split screens... well... I mean... damn that would be hot.

  • Me like a lot!!!!

By split screen i mean a configuration with one side with the menus and one side with the play surface constantly exposed.

  • @Alex fox try one without the piano roll, and without rehearsing a part before pressing record. That might mean shorter, simpler parts, but maybe that would provide an opportunity to show off the solo/fill stuff right from the get go. I think the solo function is most useful cause you can basically have multiple, maybe even shitty melody loops, but if they are synced to the master clock and you perform them with the solo function, a completely different melody might emerge. Just guessing here.

  • I'm a big sci-fi movies fan, and every time I open KRFT, it reminds me of a spaceship control console :)

  • I think those videos are great for the already interested. For everyone else, I would start it off like an animated music video at full tilt to get their attention, flying all over the surface close up with fingers flying and shapes pulsing, then as the song winds down, play the surface "construction" part in reverse, tearing down the surface to a single object.

I'm not too bothered by "modular". The term is applied to many things outside of the music world, and happens to be the most accurate word available. Perhaps if you diffused it's baggage with another word it would be okay. "Intuitive Modular Performance yadda..."

  • You hit it right on bro!

    Interactive Modular

Hits it right on cause it truly uses IOS touch screen to fully interact with your music creativity!
