Sorry to be such a numbnut, but can some kind soul remind me how to select cells in the piano roll? Played a bunch of notes in and want to select them all and move them along a few spaces....

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but this isn't a feature implemented at the moment! It's on the list !!!!

Ah. Understand. And understand priorities in app development. I love how much you can get at the sounds in this app but tend to spend a lot of time in piano rolls, especially getting the balance or harmonies between diff. instruments, so need to move things around a fair amount. While there are lots of other bits and bobs that are nice to be able to do, the ability to 'simply' select notes and then move them is pretty much base camp for this area (for me anyways)....glad to hear this is at least on the list....

Yes agree it's important! I'll move it up a few notches in the list so it gets done earlier.

  • look, honestly, i only bought this thing cuz my secret chemical wife's surname is Kraft...

At first you're like what pretty blocks, squares, triangles, circles, and then once you crank on if the demos you're like: BAM!!!!!! This is it!!!

Yep then once you catch you're breath, you begin to explore the vastness, the depth, the thought and dedication by amazing developers who love music as much as any of us! Perhaps even more. Then you begin to realize how beautiful in design, form, is this piece of art. Which it really is an art design from the heart of developers who love music and this universal language that unites us all.

Wrote this while playing the Puuuurfect Surface demo by Alex. Soooo beautiful! My favorite thus far.

I think I am at the pretty blocks stage as i'm relying on vids and not having been hands on with it.
How well does it integrate with hardware controllers, sequencers and sound sources ?

  • Wow!! The Surfaces as nice!!! Thanks guys for sharing.

    Soooo gifted musicians.

The midi out is coming but I had to change my thinking with this app to really get the most out of it. It's really conducive to staying focused in one thing rather than just another tool in the arsenal. And I am not a fan of gadget or other all in one solutions so there's something different about how this app feels like an instrument you play. It feels like hardware somehow.

It is true that part of our vision was to create a customisable interface that would let you perform an entire song, almost playing it like an instrument, with expression and real time decisions (and happy accidents!). The limitation right now is that all sounds must come from KRFT but that will change soon (MIDI out), and based on our in house tests so far it's very very exciting!

Do you have to constantly 'play' it, or can it be sequenced to play on it's own as well.......I would inevitably try and play live guitar passages along to it once I had something half decent going ?

No, there are loops that play "forever" so you could set something going and then jam along for sure.

No, there are loops that play "forever" so you could set something going and then jam along for sure.

Ahhh that is interesting.....My current setup is a Novation Circuit and Launchpad App for loops with a Mininova for live keys plus the guitar.....This works for me for the realtime decision making side of things while composing and performing.

What does intrigue me about KRFT is that the surface can not only allow you to control your song real-time, but also acts as a prompt for what is coming next (if you lay it out so)...this is a problem with the above setup..it always looks the same so relies on me knowing and remembering material inside out...and some of that material may have been made in half an hour...maybe 6 months ago......so in theory i could have a 'boxes' setup with live sequencing, that I can then have a prerecorded loop of the final output from that as the next stage in the song and be able to play guitar along to that...and so on....

The main thing that I am wondering about now is the surface itself...as I may be trying to swap from guitar to keys or say sample launching quite quickly that trying to do this on a touch screen could be a bit hit and miss....Is it possible to have certain points on the surface controlled an external pad ? For example a group play button mapped to a pad on Launchpad controller...this would allow me to have the 'Important' selections available on a pad which is far easier to hit in the heat of the moment, and then use the touch screen for the more ;intimate' tweaking.

In addition to the MIDI Out for notes, is it in your plan for us to be able to assign MIDI CCs to knobs? For example, in 1.5 I might create a sequence in a KRFT loop cell that plays from Animoog, but it would be nice to be able to assign a KRFT knob to control the filter cut-off in Animoog too...

I think MIDI In would be a really useful thing....not only can you do the above but you could also be able to tweak sound parameters that are not currently on screen as well as recording patterns from external sequencers

yes it certainly would be cool.

It's in there, you can assign a CC to Dials & Morphs - very sweet B)

  • Awesome!!! Keeps getting better and better!!!!

Midi in would rock man! I can use my little MAUDIO MINI 32 controllers pads for triggering groups! Wow the midi is gonna take this to outer space!

    The UI.

The midi out is coming but I had to change my thinking with this app to really get the most out of it. It's really conducive to staying focused in one thing rather than just another tool in the arsenal. And I am not a fan of gadget or other all in one solutions so there's something different about how this app feels like an instrument you play. It feels like hardware somehow.

    and @Alex fox

Do you have to constantly 'play' it, or can it be sequenced to play on it's own as well.......I would inevitably try and play live guitar passages along to it once I had something half decent going ?

No, there are loops that play "forever" so you could set something going and then jam along for sure.

Ahhh that is interesting.....My current setup is a Novation Circuit and Launchpad App for loops with a Mininova for live keys plus the guitar.....This works for me for the realtime decision making side of things while composing and performing.

What does intrigue me about KRFT is that the surface can not only allow you to control your song real-time, but also acts as a prompt for what is coming next (if you lay it out so).....so in theary i could have a 'boxes' setup with live sequencing, that I can then have a prerecorded loop of the final output from that as the next stage in the song and be able to play guitar along to that...and so on....

Right now that's not possible, perhaps after we add MIDI Out we could add MIDI In for that sort of thing !

You know, I was an early adopter to KRFT. (See the "KRFT Revolution" thread from February.)
But @Alex fox you have roared ahead so far and so quickly that I'm just astonished at all the changes, and I feel I have some real catching up to do. Just left the most hyperbolic review on the App Store.

    Excellent, excellent job.

In edit mode, insert group button object
The far left control is "target". Tap it, then tap the objects you want to be triggered when you tap the group button.

Looks like the behavior is "on" . Would be nice to be able to toggle the grouped objects on an off.

Maybe it's time for a back to basics video. The A to Z of this has changed/developed etc...
