When it finally arrives it'll be like jesus' resurrection. The wait for this app is beyond patience control. It feels as if we've waited for this app for 5 years or so.

I've bought 2 idevices while waiting for this app. that's saying something. if they keep it up its gonna be at 3 (the new pro).....

    Which?
I'm seriously debating which hardware sampler to jump into. I'm working on a flow chart to decide between Push 2, MPC Live, MPC Touch, Maschine, Digitakt....

So it's to BM3's credit (and the praise of Samu, who is a hype-man of Flavor Flav proportions), that I'm imagining an app can stand in for a $1000 piece of gear....

everybody has a different/approach/workflow but although i do like hardware it's definitely far down on my list for sampler/drum machine duties. patterning into gadget and/or gadget alone for drums fits me perfectly. late at night, wifey falls asleep and i turn off the tv and plugs some headphones into my phone and edit some drums, etc. but i was never a drum pad guy, always created drums by mouse and grid on pc and then mac, even though i started out in bands playing drums.

  • I just received my long awaited MPC Live and realized BM3 beta is better in the sense that you can play legato loops and pitch them with the keys like in those Ableton Live videos. At the moment on the MPC you can warp audio tracks and clip programs. Which is sad.

Anyway my point is BM3 is a beast compared but it still doesn't compare with hardware on the tactile part of things. And yes I have a controller hooked up to it. But Dongle spaghetti is not my thing.

Try hooking up an audio interface and a keyboard to the iPad... while powering it.

That's pretty much what I do with my cck3. Of course the interface has it's in power adapter. My ICA4+ charges my iPad. While the cck3 does that duty when I use my novation audiohub.

I just saw a video yesterday of warping audio, what's sad about it?

my collage work is not publicly palatable but all I would do is basically cut down the number of faders on your design to 4, and add an 16pad drummed section that mirrored bm3 on the right side of the faders, and I would keep your launchpad style buttons on the bottom but have 4 rows of 16 each...... and I would keep the knobs above the faders like you have, and I would really rather have faders than touch strips..... but it would be cool to have maybe 1 touch strip somewhere n the unit, I probably wouldn't care where as long as everything else is as I described.... maybe a good place would be actually on the very left hand side of the unit so that you could anchor your hand on the face of the unit and rub the strip with your middle finger

You give a new old idea... in my design it's possible to add 2 touch strips (softpot ie) so it could be possible (and removing the 5 faders from mine give us another 5 analog signals for joysticks and so... an XY pad will require more work but not impossible neither even. I recomend a nanopad or vestax for these stuff)...
... from there remove without problem... add more buttons and functionalities will require merge with other controller which could be possible of course but step secuencing cappability should be ready in the app too.

When I have some time I will try to collage a bit more

Pitch bend with softpot and modulation with the regular wheel. Since my design is based on scavenge over regular launhkey 49 mk2 it has the layout based on it. Sustain pedal is analog or digital? (I'm confused...). It could be used as xfader/switch...
Wondering in the meantime it could be awesome some improvements over the regular mapping @blocsxnovation...

    The list could be:

    • Enable the "launch row" almost in the unused one (the upper button) since the lower is "fx page"...
    • Change the "fx page" to loop or play button (unnused at the moment)
    • Enable record button as... record :smirk:
    • Enable mute/solo; and also use them to select a cell to...
    • "Sequencer mode" for the rgb pads ala beastep pro!
    • Record fader, fx automation or release my design with standalone cappabilities (something between the launchcontrol and circuit)
    • Open the firmware like launchpad pro to let us embed these sequencer with Raspi (like Ableton has done with Push2)
    • Release the new app with most of my features for sequencing and launch controllers support. Any new hardware in these lines will be appreciated

    End offtopic.

    Oooooh nice. Let me know.

  • So many of us are looking forward to BM3 with hopes that it can finally be the killer app to make us wanna ditch our laptops. And with ios 11, perhaps Intuia can take that into account also. PLEASE Intuia, don't succumb to all of our impatience. Most of us can wait.. PLEASE take your time and in so doing give us an app that makes me glad I waited and didn't splash the cash for an MPC Live.

Not sure about tossing my laptop but I like another evolutionary step towards more complete sounding sketches on iOS to feed said laptop.

the fact that half of the mpcs and half of the digitakts (not really half, but for the sake of drama) are bugging out is making it quite easy for me to be patient.
in even more useless news I got a message from retronyms on my iPad today asking if I'm curious about what they've been up to lately.... those guys know how to get a good laugh out of you

Honestly digitakt might be the best hardware I've ever bought even with the bugs

  • And the iPad is great as a synth module for those 8 midi tracks

people are saying that about the the digitakt and the mpc live, I'm talking about people who have returned defective units, it's the strangest thing I have ever seen in my life seriously... it's like elektron and akai didn't even exist before those two machines and people with defective units still love them to death. I know native instruments must be pulling their hair out

You should have replied. :D . Even tho I still use iMPC pro for sketches, when it comes times to transfer and use the mpc touch I curse them out every time. Who cares about tabletop when they didn't even add a feature. It's like let's update these app to 64 bit and call it a day. WTF!!!!!

Pretty sure that only works with IKMULTIMEDIA stuff though.

  • Hmmm.... Intua has been silent for some days. This may be a good sign (preparing videos)

mine has frozen once but other than that has been solid

  • @kobamoto : As one who used to work selling digital keyboards in a music chain, that IS strange (Defective MPC live).

  • my point is apparently these two machines in particular are so good that people don't seem to mind them being buggy. I have never seen so many unhappy happy customers :D but I guess it's a good thing as once they iron out the bugs it looks like we will have some very cool instruments on the market that could encourage a hole swath of others to be developed.

    @mireko_2.... jealous grrr

    B-to the M- to the 3

Nurkai is not well know for "ironning bugs" accurately... let's hope this time they take care of their gear almost to a point it justifies the buy for their users.
Said that, "satisfaction" maybe it's consequence from the self-hype and feature promises and it's still soon to claim "the godsend machine" or "totally crap" neither. Some bias has been in all the whole history since the MPC legacy name but I still want to point that this new machine has few relation with Reinassence software ( @sonicreef gave us some info about that time ago) and zero to jjOS... not necessary bad but not so legendary (MPC60/2000) minds involved on it.
The drama with changes in price (going over the 999) or timestretching limitations etc just makes me be skeptic about them (Nurkai not the new MPC team behind the Live/X ones) so let's see how it goes and how Numark deals with the issues.
