Hehe, OK, Rub It In PART2!

I am sure it will be awesome, really looking forward to it.
This is very relative man... I'm sure the app could/should be the best music making released on iPad until now... But the wait is getting so long that the ratio good app / waiting time is getting lower every day... Lol
I'm kidding... But not completely... I know musicians who were teased by the initial announcements and that preferred going another way (buying other hardware and apps/softs) because they did not believe in a release anymore...
I really wish they would have released it weeks ago and then update it to add options/functions...
Although they've polished it with a lot of betas lately, it still needs some final touches. I guess they want to have a polished product.
It's not like we don't have other apps to make noises with while waiting for the arrival of BM3.
The 'feature updates' are already scheduled post-release to my knowledge...
Personally I expect 1-2 more betas and that's well within the 'promised' Q2 delivery![:) :)](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/smile.png)
WWDC'17 starts next week and one of the developers will be there.
Those on the beta know that it still needs some polish here and there...
As they should! I think a big chunk of their target is likely everyone who hasn't got into iOS whole hog and doesn't even know about Beatmaker yet. From the sounds of it I am sure it will bring a lot of new mobile converts in.
Not a bad boat; it's sinking and I don't have a life preserver!
. I would love to see a video of some of the features in action, regardless of beta status.
I'm glad they are trying to get it right
Come on already...
Are you suggesting that WWDC might be a significant milestone for the BM3 release?
Thanks @lukesleepwalker now I'm most likely going to waste half my day Monday waiting for a BM3 appearance. And end up being told all about the most amazing Apple product ever, which happens to be 98% exactly like last year's most amazing Apple product ev3r.![ ](https://forum.loopypro.com/resources/emoji/lol.png)
More like 87.2% (12.9 / 10.5)
@AudioGus yes, that sounds good to me actually. ;-) or better yet, just get rid of those darn bezels. I may have laughed at my 12.9 the moment I met it. It still resents me.
And, cynicism aside, it would be amazing to have a mobile music app featured at WWDC.
I just feel we're just a few (1-2) betas away or something...
(No 'green light' yet for posting stuff so even though my fingers itch a bit it's a no-go).
How long is a beta in dog years?
The bmk2 kits transfer fine in BM3 but if it a instrument, BM3 put it on one pad not in a keyboard sampler mode. I have brought this up as well maybe Im two lol
dooooont do it lol Wait BM3 does more than that old box technology lol
Finally, a calm hand at the tiller! A cool head prevailing among the hysteria! So nice to have a man around the house.
Found the beta testers.
Thanks for your answer Samus... On my side, it's complicated... I had very high expectations about the last Gadget update, I was sure it would allow us to record audio tracks from other apps via iaa or ab at least... This was the main feature I was dreaming for months... But when it came out, it was very limited and did allow recording from external sources only... Since then I admit I have made less music than before on my ipad... You know I was big Gadget fan, but introducing this strong limitation, which has no technical justification, in their update made me I really sad and right now my love for Gadget is lower than ever before... I still can't find an easy and nice workflow on iOS for the type of sample based music I'm making, with every apps released in the past 2 years I'm always one simple missing function away from it, andi BM3 is kind of my last hope... That why I'm so impatient now... I want to be inspired again lol.
PS : and please avoid sentences such as "those on the betas know..."... I'm already so frustrated that Intua refused to let me be part of it... We are not all chosen ones Samus...

Is it just me or is Gadget crashing every time a new project is started? I think it has to do with Gadget Cloud or sth. one of the things I loved about gadget was it never crashed, now it almost crashes predictably...
@LucidMusicInc Gadget is not crashing when I open a new project (checked with saved projects and new projects). I use iCloud too.
@ElGregoLoco Yeah, I think for your type of music (many samples) BM3 will be better than Gadget.
I admit I was kinda bummed out with the Gadget update as well but it hasn't stopped me from using it.
It was nice move from Korg to add native AudioShare support. The AB3 update should also be arriving soon too.
I know everyone has different work-flows so I am kinda curious what those 'small missing functions' would be?
I mean I am quite picky already so I would feel 'bad' If I somehow 'missed' some of those?
(Please do share and I'll make my best effort to forward them too).
To my knowledge there is a 'boat-load' of stuff in the backlog that will come after initial release.
I due time @mathieugarcia will chime in and give us an update with more details...
Good to know. You can't open BM2 song files in BM3.
Every single pad in BM3 is a 'keyboard sampler'. It's also relatively easy to copy a pad to another bank and thus have a bank with 128 'instruments' if there ever is a need for that.
Considering the major overhaul, even if one would manage to 'convert' the BM2' session to BM3 it would not sound the same since the effects have been changed and improved over BM2.
So it would only be wise to 'finish the stuff' made in BM2 in BM2 and 'start fresh' with BM3.
I'm going to wait lol I have the self control. @ExAsperis99 I was just getting emotional in this empty house

@ElGregoLoco I know what you mean. I feel like BM3 will be similar to Maschine which I love. I sold it a while ago for Ableton so I'm excited to see if BM3 is on par or better. The sampling options are right up my alley!
Yea, I'm a little bit bummed it's so different. I have 1000's of stems and 100's of songs in BM2 with automations.
I know what you mean about not being able to hit a sweet sample based workflow on iOS. Audio/sample manipulation has always been my main thing. I have done a lot more full on synth sequencing the past few years than I ever would have otherwise, because of it's prominence on iOS, while the whole time pining for a sweet audio editing fx workflow that doesn't feel super compromised.
The part that is missing for me on iOS is quickly chopping and slicing large, more or less unrelated audio files, which I can do best on PC using mouse and keyboard. Being able to run an audio browser on a seperate monitor, have a multitrack project playing at the same time and dragging and dropping files of up to several minutes in length and quickly chopping the snot out of them, rearranging, stretching,
pitchshifting, adding fx etc. on the fly. I have sketched up rough iOS apps that I think would fit the bill, just to get them out of my head. A sample / audio source browser at the bottom that lets me jump through files and select ranges (kind of audioshare-ish) and a timeline at the top that allows me to populate ranges and slices of various lengths and then apply manipulations to them (like Blocs meets Effectrix/Egoist FX, traditional-ish). It would be a small specialised/focused portion of the DAW chopping experience that appeals to me that I can't find anywhere on iOS.
Some people love big rubber pads and pounding on them while jumping around, to each their own. There are just so many ways to aproach things.
Anyway, i know BM3 won't do what I describe but maybe with its pads / sampler with audio ranges / timeline / fx it can get me closer... or not. Perhaps it has a good enough file browser or I can pipe in audioshare and sample on the fly well enough to satisfy for a while. Who knows...
Thanks all for your nice answers full of understanding... Best community ever ;-)
This helps a bit waiting for the Graal... Lol
@AudioGus , my man, I confirm that our expectations seem kind of similar... But they are probably even higher on my side as I have no computer to make music (I have only a 15 yo PC to print docs and consult a few websites, and I cannot afford a PC or Mac with audio interface and software licences), so I fully rely on my iPad... I kind of enviously cry when I watch YouTube vids in whish beatmaker sample a vinyl on the computer and start to easily chop and test it in live using a big computer screen, a dedicated soft and a large piano keyboard... I'd love to be able to have a similar (even if probably a bit limited by definition) in BM3 (having some limits due to the ipad hardware size/power is not an issue for me as I come from MPC that I sold for an iPad, on which I can do many new things like using synths, fxs, incentive controllers, ..., Which is wonderful, but still not being able to do what I could do fast and simple in terms of chopping on JJOS, is really frustrating).
Peace.
Grégo.
BM3's Website: Play live, remix or sketch ideas with a powerful scene mode.
What does 'Scene Mode' do?
What about 'Snapshots' ...? Something like Maschine's 'Lock' ?
Looking deeper at the features.. She is not only pretty but she also have brains..

Edit... found this...
Sequencer
You will find the traditional, timeline based sequencer, exactly like BM2 with an improved workflow and set of tools. To extend the creation capabilities, we’ve added a “scene” mode, where you can quickly create, assemble and play with patterns. A scene hosts multiple track patterns that can be triggered at once, using a specified quantization. It is also possible to individually trigger a pattern from outside the currently playing scene.
The combination of both SONG and SCENE mode is pretty powerful and opens up possibilities for live performances and more traditional sequencing.
