You should be getting your sample libraries ready for transfer ;)

What's the best and quickest way of doing this, and is there any way of using iMaschine or native instrument maschine studio samples in bm3?

With Machine the fastest way, sad to say, will be to manually record each sample. The positive side to this however is that you will be able to record each bank as one recording and then chop it to the pads, so you can get it done in a fairly reasonable amount of time, maybe a day or two. Kind of what planning to do with Machine, BM2 and various other drum machine apps I own but don't really use. BM3 takes the sting out of Isequence not getting updated considerably.

    Thanks

@triton100 I'm not sure if this was already mentioned, but there is an easier way to get the Maschine samples to BM3. I'm on Windows, I'm not sure where the folder is on a mac, but if you look in Users\Public\Documents\ (samplepackname)\Samples, and you'll find all the samples by category and in wav format.
This is only for the sample packs not for Kontakt, etc

well what i did was in maschine studio mark all the kits you want as favorites. Then make a project and place a note at the beginning of each of the pads. So 16 notes all at the beginning of the project. Mix down project in multiple stems. When the samples are saved theay are saved as one shots in a folder. Dont delete the project yet. Replace the sound kit with another fav and repeat the process. Make sure you name each folder to so that you know the difference from kit to kit. Its really fast once you get it

I hear you. I just transferred all of my favorite expansion packs directly to BM2 so that they are in their correct folders labeled as loops, one shots, drums, etc. Made life easy for me.

How do you transfer the organised folders you've made to bm3. Is it via iTunes or imported via dropbox? And don't they need to be converted first or something ?

What I did was grabbed all the sounds from
    D:\Users\Public\Documents\Amplified Funk Library\Samples\Drums
then I used this batch creator to make all the kits for me. Then I opened them up in BM# and resave them as BMK3 files

Unfortunately this batch creator is not mac compatible.

@Samu when you recommend to put all the samples you like in BM3, does it mean that it's not possible to import samples directly from audioshare (as in blocs wave for exemple) ?
This would be a big disappointment on my side...

You have plenty of import options in BM3 :)

You can pull files & full folders of files from AudioShare using iCloud Drive/Document Picker or send files to it using 'Open In...' from just about any other app. You can easily import zip-files with samples too if needed.

Hmm of course. They're all wav samples. For some reason I thought maschine files were in an nki format or something like that. But maybe that's just for the projects. Not sure

    D:\Users\Public\Documents\Amplified Funk Library\Samples\Drums
look in this folder bro for actual samples

Do you then need to convert the kits using the beat pack app before importing into bm3?

I used dropbox or ftp, and the folders are already organized. Once you go into the samples folder the sub folders are named...Drums>Kick, Snare, etc. in some expansion packs there is a loops folder, a one shots folder etc.

You can browse but not 'preview'. Import everything you have in AudioShare to BM3 in one step and you'll be good to go.. and use 'Open In...' from the other apps to send stuff directly to BM3...

Sure it would but sooner or later all samples will end up in BM3 anyway ;)

And it's easy to 'export' from BM3 to other apps and with the upcoming iOS11 you'll be able to browse the content of BM3 from any app that supports the Files.app/Document Picker...

Thats an intersting question. iOS now has the new APFS filesystem so in theory when you duplicate files it just uses a link to the original and only creates a copy if you change it. That's how it was demonstrated on MacOS anyway, so be interested if it works the same on iOS.

but bm2 does this currently, it's the best thing about bm2 imo

  • @Samu sorry to be the annoying 432hz hippie but do u see a global tuning anywhere in bm3? I'd be glad to drop BH but it's got that sweet sweet global tuning for my crystalline geometrical ass

Yepp, they 'know' how to do it so it will come...
I kinda like the Vinyl-Like import in iMPC Pro too ;)

Since I also use Spotify I use Algoriddim DJay to 'sample' my iTunes & Spotify stuff and export the audio to BM3 :)
(IAA-Generator is disabled in DJay when using Spotify so I can't sample directly to pads in BM3 from that source).

but in the impc you have to load first then audition ... making things take forever... I hope intua makes sure that it's audition first, then load, and then returning to the last place you auditioned from.... it will make a world of difference!

I think you'll love it once you get some of your own samples in there and start to mess around with sampling AUv3's and other sources :)
