So automation will be possible directly from AU interface?!! That feels like the future, can't wait.
Can anyone tell me if the automation can be seen (knobs rotating, sliders sliding) on the user interface when it is played?!
Yepp, that works for most of the plug-Ins I've tried with during the beta with a few exceptions.
All AUV3's can still be automated from the UI even if their knobs don't move on playback...
With Machine the fastest way, sad to say, will be to manually record each sample. The positive side to this however is that you will be able to record each bank as one recording and then chop it to the pads, so you can get it done in a fairly reasonable amount of time, maybe a day or two. Kind of what planning to do with Machine, BM2 and various other drum machine apps I own but don't really use. BM3 takes the sting out of Isequence not getting updated considerably.
Sign up for Loopmasters, you'll get tonnes of freebies. Raw Cuts is a great sample label, so is samplephonics.
YYYYOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
For 'iOS Apps' I'd say the fastest way is to download all apps to iTunes on the desktop and dig thru all the *.ipa packages for samples...
(That's what I've done with most of the apps I have so I can freely use the samples with any other app).
This is a 'grey zone' and I'm fully aware of that...
Nice tip.
As for the greyness as long as you are only using the samples in your own productions it strikes me as being very light grey.
Isn't it July 15 in Australia?
Thanks
I wonder if there's a "lazy chop" option.
Yeah, but consider this. Lets say you have a TON of beat-making apps containing samples on your iPad.
You 'prefer' the work-flow in one of the apps but the sounds are in another?
In those cases I see nothing wrong with 'extracting the samples' for one app to use with your preferred app and this is what I have done
any specific .ipas that are good for mining ? i'm genuinely curious.
If you like 'MPC Stuff' start with the free TableTop...
Other apps would be classic beatboxes such as FunkBox and ElasticDrums... I think you get the picture
I also salvaged some drums from Diode-108 and a few other apps that no longer run on current iOS versions.
Go hunting in your app flora, you never know what you bump into
interesting..... didn't even think about grabbing samples from elastic drums.
Don't the Swiss take holiday this time of year? In Australia?
Tom is making some progress with his videos check him out

It must be July 15th somewhere in the world by now...
was wondering this myself, and mpc L export would be the ticket
Another 'interesting' app that had like tons (>400 samples) crated with various arcade machines and retro-boxes is 8BitDrum. That app stopped working when iOS6 was released...
ElectroBeats is another app that 'died' when iOS7 was released as did S4 Rhythm Composer.
Other 'interesting' apps are CMI Pro for some classic original Fairlight samples in their 8/16-bit glory.
And if you like the Recife samples in Gadget those can be extracted quite easily too
(And pre iOS8.3 it was possible to extract the AbuDhabi and Bilbao samples).
Figure is another example...
I mean if you've already paid for the rights to use the samples then I really don't see any problem with the above
@samu can you elaborate a little bit on how you find the samples inside the IPA file. What do you use to open up the IPAA on your desktop?
Ok... Guess I will need to have my hands on BM3 to really wrap my head around this scene/pattern mode... Interesting..
Edit... well, it's in there ... Great...
Change the *.ipa extension to *.zip and extract it...
(Make a copy first so you don't mess up the original).
Thanks Samu!
well only need knowing is if bm3's zoom goes down to sample level which I'd be aghast if it didn't so dude was probably just in the mood to go a longer route
BM3 will improve over time I have no doubts about that.
Some features may be missing from the initial release but they are in the pipe-line already.
The envelopes are the only way to do fade-in/out for the slices for now unless doing destructive trim on the wave-form.
@mathieugarcia is monitoring this forum and snapping up all suggestions so keep em coming
you can zoom in down to sample level and select the zero crosspoint though???
nervous clucking in the hen house...
Yea, by default the sliced pads 'reference' the original file but if you trim or do destructive edits on the slice it becomes an individual sample leaving the other slices intact. This is done to lower disk-access thus keeping the CPU usage low. (You can see how the file number increases every time Tom adds a 'fade out', only the files that are in use are saved with the session and temp-files get automatically deleted).
cluck cluck cluck.... zero cross points?
