I heard that Ableton is suing Intua for copying the clip launching and that's why BM3 is late. It may never come!!

    (Horrible,obvious trolling)

Then Ableton would go after Bitwig and FL Studio who both have clip launch.

The clip launching thing belongs to Cakewalk... Project 5..

Yup. Cakewalk had it before anyone else. Not that it matters now because they don't make anything for iOS except z3ta+, which still doesn't work properly after all this time. Glitches, crashes, and crackles, oh my!

BTW, BM2 was the first usable DAW on iOS (for me personally) and for that I am grateful. Don't need BM3... may buy it anyway.

Clip launching comes from the Amiga, was available as an add on for Bars n Pipes, there has been very little innovation on the newer desktop platforms (PC/MacOS) besides near transparency and things working in near realtime, which after all is probably the most important innovations of all in the digital age.

    Ok...

I guess that was when music gear cost as much as a house...

'List price is US$1000. 1991: Commodore unveils the Amiga 3000UX. Cost is US$5000, without a monitor. 1992: March - Commodore introduces the Amiga 600 for a base price of $500.'

Now, where is that $19. App?

    What ?
My iPad cost way more than any Amiga i ever owned (500/1200/600) and that takes in to account inflation too, computing has not gotten cheaper by any means, the Amiga prices you are quoting are for super high end machines, or are you suggesting that the fastest desktop machines available now for CGI workstations are not more than us$5000, because they are, trust me.
Now where is that free add on for Bars n Pipes....

All i did was correct somebody who said Cakewalk invented clip triggering, they didn't, now take your price wars and shove them in an app and sell it as a game or something.
Oh and while you are at it, pop to 2017 and ask it if everything is OK, US$5000, as much as a house ? That's not even a years rent of a one room bedsit !!!!

    Easy Bro...
I appreciate your input on the subject... maybe my response came across bad...

    But, nuff respect...

  • Could not download the manual because the network connection was lost. :s Wtf

Ah. I should have said "before the others mentioned here." instead of "before anyone else". I never meant to imply that they invented it. Most people think of it as "Ableton style" it seems.. so Ableton won.

If you are trying to download from the link that I posted a few minutes ago, that was actually a mistake on my part. I saw a link to a manual and completely missed that fact that it was for BM1. And now I'm getting 404 for their site.

:o Always surprised to see a Project 5 reference.
I'm pretty sure Ableton live had clip launching before P5. I remember folks on the P5 forum talking about how much clip launching looked like Live's session view when it was first introduced.

  • yeah but project 5 always had better arps than ableton

  • So, during the wait, I have looked through the basic, intermediate and advanced tutorials.
This can definitely be used as a fully functioning DAW as far as I can see, with full audio tracks, auxiliaries and plug ins. Or am I missing something?
I could certainly see myself fully creating songs within it. Unless I AM missing something....

  • where is it now?
    slowly I feel fooled

    You're not missing anything.

  • A quote from Intua on twitter.
It just take a while to appear on the App Store. Now the refresh game begins!

    So maybe it's Apple

  • Still not on US store. Anyone else see it?

It's gonna be hard to forgive apple for this one

  • Ummm of course it takes awhile, a long while at times in fact as we have seen previously.

Oh good. Looks very slick. Just gonna take me a while to learn all the aspects of it, but there seems to be very little missing from this legendary sounding app!

BM3 is the mind-killer. BM3 is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face BM3. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where BM3 has gone there will be nothing. Only Beathawk Will remain.

lol! You've had way too spice, you're cut off.

Ofcourse you can. In the 90s and 2000s we were producing full tracks with much less fancy tools.

  • The suspense is killing me, it's 2:04am eastern time in Atlanta, GA, USA, it's listed in Audiobus compatability section, still nothing. I'm just trying to see the glass half-full, but now... before I exhale like a dragon, does anyone think that we are having difficulties getting the app because it is released on a Saturday? I'm mentally overexhausted right now.

Well, he who controls the BM3 controls the universe!

...which reminds me of Hammerhead which I created several songs in back in the days. :D
