    .

  • I'm gonna update my iPhone 5, I'll def report back any problems with any of the music apps (although the iPad is my main music idevice and won't be updated yet obviously).

  • If anyone has the guts to update their iPad 2 or iPad Mini let me know how that works for ya. That's the boat I'm in... but sadly I don't have much hope of it working well.

  • iPad 2 won't see iOS 7 until Oktober/November, iOS 7 will probably have seen one or two updates by then. But my concern is the general performance on iPad 2/Mini on iOS 7, not necessarily any childhood bugs

  • Oh I didn't realize iPad 2 was delayed. iPad Mini is my main device anyhow.

And yes, performance is my fear as well, not .0 release bugs necessarily. Transparency FTL.

  • Aw crap, there are two apps I use all the time on the phone (never really thought about until now). And those are WeJaam and Figure. None of which have seen any iOS 7 updates. Makes me a bit nervous really BUT I'M GONNA DO IT! I'LL JUMP OF THE CLIFF! and report back,...:(

  • Good luck brother!

@ChrisG Thanks for testing the waters! I would love to find out if the lightning CCK really works with the iPhone 5 and iOS7. Could you verify that and let us know?
I also wonder how the chances are for a JB for iOS 7 happening anytime soon. Hopefully they can do it at all.

  • I was going to update but luckily I have no Internet/ decent wifi for a while.
Looking forward to your report Chris ;-)

  • I haven't updated my iPad 3 yet, but I have updated my iPhone 5 (about a week ago when the GM was released). Loving iOS7 so far, very stable.

I have Looptical, which is the first AU host I know of - does anyone know of any AU instruments or generators? There are supposed to be two built in, but I don't see them; maybe they were just for developers.

  • What does "AU" stand for? I've always known it as Audio Units.....

  • edited September 2013

@Munibeast I don't have any adapter to test out the CCK with. But as far as I know it should work, and we'll probably hear from more people on that soon I hope.

I think he does mean audio units. iOS 7 will allow compatible apps to act as AU/VSTs as I've understood it all by reading twitters from Rolf/Tempo Rubato and others.

  • Yes, I mean Audio Units. There are now AU Instruments, Generators and Effects on iOS7. I just don't know what apps have these capabilities yet. Anyone?

  • I wasn't aware that anyone was compiling AU instruments for the iPad or calling the apps that use inter-app audio AudioUnits. Have I missed something? Are you saying that apps that use inter-app audio are actually AudioUnit compiled apps?

  • I have the CCK and I'll be updating my iPhone 5 the nano second iOS7 is available. I'll report back later this afternoon when I can try it at home.

  • And fwiw, I haven't heard anything about a staggered release from anyone official at Apple for the iPad. What I show is that it will be available today as well. We'll see. I won't be updating that right away though.

  • Looking forward to your reports from the front line @boone51! :-) Once iOS drops, Sebastian says the NDA will be lifted and they can talk openly about iOS7. :-)

    Audiojunkie:

iOS 7 will allow apps to act just as AU / VST plugs (for lack of another word). So an iOS daw like Auria or Cubasis (or whatever) will for example be able to open an external synth app (like Sunrizer or Nave), recall the right preset/parameters for the project you just opened. Just like on a computer DAW. It all needs updating and support for it all from the respective devs, but eventually that's how it's gonna work.

  • Right, I was aware of that part, but I read into your comments that actual existing AU plugins would be able to be easily ported to the iOS platform, since they were actually using the AU development tools, and I didn't think that that was the case...I was just asking clarifications to make sure I was understanding you. :-)

  • Ok. Yea maybe we need a new term for iOS plugs. iAU = insta fail (just saying).

  • I'm gonna do a "dirty" install over the air when it's available. If anyone/dev know of any problems doing it this way please do say

  • Is there 'ANY' way to get back to a previous OS after the upgrade to iOS7? Very curious to know....

  • For the brave IOS7 is out now in US.

  • I keep getting update failed, so I guess the servers are really getting hammered. Never had a problem before with any iOS update so.

I have 1 hour left on my iPhone 4. At first it said 6 hours remaining lol. I think it was the initial hit. I'll report back. Even if It appears ok you should take Sebastian's advise if its your bread and butter device. I rarely use this IPhone for music.

  • Yep, updating now. Looks like I have about 20 minutes left. More to come.

  • I can confirm there's no love from Apple for the iPod 4th Gen.

  • I'm safe for now....the U/G requires over 3G of space and I only have 14.8M. ;-)

  • Yeah, I deleted BM2...lol. Obviously that's only going to be a temporary thing...
