  • Three Gigabytes of space?!?!?!? I don't even have that much space available!!!!!! After the upgrade is done, does it free the space up again? How much space does it use after all is said and done? Just curious....

  • done downloading...preparing update...

  • Lol @funjunkie 14M. Pushing it huh.

  • Biting nails... what is going to happen to boone51 after the update?

  • very close now....soon

  • @mgmg4871....yeah, I don't think I've got it any better than a couple hundred Megs in the last several months, even though I'm constantly pruning out apps. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that I'm constantly adding them too. ;-)

People keep saying ios 7 isn't available for iPad 2 until later... so how come the first thing I see on my iPad 2 today is a notice saying "ios 7 is available for your iPad"?
(ain't gonna do it, of course).

Updated the phone, and iMachine, WeJaam, IKaossilator and Figure seems to work like they should (didn't try them inside Audiobus tho).

One thing tho totally unrelated , I don't get any weather info in the notice center anymore, anyone else having that problem too?

  • @ChrisG, can you give Audiobus a quick try to see what happens?

  • I've just tried Audiobus using Magellan Jr and Loopy and had no problems at all. More testing to come.

As far as the iOS update for iPad 2, I haven't heard anywhere other than this forum about a delayed launch. That would be unprecedented for Apple and I wouldn't expect them to do it honestly, but who knows. I expect to see the update button when I get back to mine, but I will not be clicking it.

  • @ChisG, I checked the notification center, and you were right. There was no weather there. So...I opened my weather app...and then when I checked notification center again, bam, there it was.

  • Kinda like AB not finding apps as fast as it used to? Hmmmm

  • Also, fwiw, someone asked about this earlier. The update requires 3.2 (or 3 point something, anyhoo) I cleared off 3.8 and ran the updater and after the installation completed it appears to have cleared the space automatically as you would expect. I am showing 3.8 free on my phone right now.

  • Good to know. Thanks @boone51!

Yea I had location services off for the weather app, had to turn it on. But I gotta say the weather info in the notice center was alot better in iOS 6, now it's basically useless

@sealpt They all worked fine in Audiobus

  • I haven't run into any issues with Audiobus on my iPhone. Admittedly, I don't typically use my iphone for a lot of creation. I like to record with it when I'm on the go and then move things over to Dropbox for full awesomification over on my iPad. I'm going to load BM2 back up and see how it goes.

On a side note related to iOS7, I can almost watch my battery fall since the upgrade. I mean it's a big difference. This isn't surprising. The previous two iOS releases have been exactly the same on version 1. Still, something I wanted to pass on to everyone.

Well according to the apple website all pads will get ios now (or atleast are listed as compatible). Maybe they did some last minute changes or something. In the keynote there were definitely some devices that would not get iOS 7 until a later date.

Everything seems to be working on my IPhone 4 so far. Haven't done a lot of testing yet. I don't have a lot of music apps installed. I can confirm that iPad 2 gets update from a friend, love how you close apps now by swiping them up,

@boone51 Rapid battery drainage in iOS7 seems to be quite common:

By the way, I contacted Holderness Media about their experiences with iOS7 and iPad2 performance (since I knew he had an iPad2 and was already on iOS7). Here's what he had to say:

Sean Ercanbrack: Thanks for this info! How does the performance (cpu/ram usage) compare with your iPad2 between iOS6.x and iOS7?
    56 minutes ago · Like

Holderness Media: So far in my own tests with Echo Pad, it seems comparable to iOS 6, with a slight increase in CPU (1-2% on average) on my iPad 2, and very marginal increase on iPhone 5 that't not even worth mentioning. Basically, other than the audio interruption bug, I haven't run into any major issues.

Holderness Media: I also installed iOS 7 on my old iPhone 4, and it is sluggish with iOS 7, but not drastically worse than it was with iOS 6. From a real world usage perspective, it's hard for me to tell now as I'm spoiled by the speed of the iPhone 5.

  • Ok so the update shows up on my iPad 2. But the messages from various devs are so conflicting. I'll try and hold of tho for an update or two, but if there's basically no performance impact on iPad 2 (did any dev test the RAM usage on iPad 2 btw?) it's just so tempting. I love it on the iPhone, and it will make even more sense on an iPad since it will make the tablet feel less like an oversized iPod and more like a proper computer/tablet.

I updated my 4s and i really like the new look and feel. So,i would love to upgrade my ipad asap :) Anyone tested his ipad and if the following apps still work (via audiobus to cubasis)?Addictive synth,Nave(ok,should work with the new update i guess),Thor,Sunrizer,iMini,Animoog?Addictive synth is most important to me.I testet a little on my iphone:

seems to work in Audiobus (Garageband in output, can't download/test beatmaker currently cause the store is more or less down):

    Funkbox/
    Fingerlab Bassline/
    Figure/
    epic synth/
    DXi FM/
    Grain science/
    Magellan JR/
    Impaktor/
    Sunrizer XS/
    Rhythm Studio/
    Yellofier/

    Not Working:

    Modular ("Audiobus initalization problem")

So,there's only one Audiobus soundgenerator on my iphone not working (Modular).BUT it was only a quick test.Just started them and played some notes,i also did not test any midi functionality.

  • I wonder why GarageBand has not been updated yet? They had shown the version with awesome IAA examples in the developers sessions... They had GB pulling in filters and loading presets for a track
Maybe they are waiting for the October iPad launch?

  • Tested so far on my Ipad2 and working.
    Thor
    Sunrizer
    Cubasis
    Magellan
    Sampletank
    Cassini
    Looptical
    Seekbeats
    S4 Rhythm Composer Pro

  • @mgmg4871 - 9 down, 436 to go. Don't forget to sleep.

  • @mgmg4871:

Is there a chance that you own Addictive synth as well? :)

  • @Mr.Nezumi No chance. Too much excitement. @Crabman. I do. Loading it now. I'll post here shortly.

  • @Crabman - see the comment above yours. There are only about six music apps that @mgmg4871 doesn't own. ;-)

  • @Crabman Addictive Synth is working. I tested it recording into Cubasis via AB.

  • Love this swipe up to close app.
