No, it's not a sample player as far as I can see.

  • The synth is surprisingly capable and I do like it's nice clean sound. You can play around with fm, wave shapes, and other good stuff to get some pretty gnarly sounds

    Great little sketch pad app.
Does the pro version allow more than 1 four bar pattern?

I think you can choose up to four measures....

Thanks @JohnnyGoodyear - just saw that on Doug's YT video.

  • Just had a play with Beatonal driving Gadget. Pretty cool. Gonna get a lot of use out of this. Check out my U Tube.

  • The user and all related content has been deleted.
  • There doesn't seem to be a restore purchase for the pro setup on second devices- it's looking for my cash again.

An option to change the grid to 1/4, 1/8, etc up to 1/64.

There is a quantize option for each channel in the main panel, this also changes the grid (but not visually).

There are some editing options I haven't quite worked out (the red dot inside the note you can drag up and down)
For the drum machine this changes the y position on the pad. The effect of the y position is customisable per pad in the main panel.

You can import your own samples for the drum machine through itunes on your mac.

There is a restore purchase button in the settings menu. Or press purchase again and you will be notified that you already own the product and can get it again for free.

Check out Jumpercollins video. He mutes the audio from Beatonal at the midi settings.

Good app indeed but we need more scales and presets in the next update

What kind of scales would you prefer?

  • Beatonal is one of those (rare) apps that just has delight after delight tucked away.

Thank You @BeatonalDev for such a grand slam.

  • Thanks for all that. I have to say the editing of this is quite ingenious and a pleasure to boot. It's a great app and a total bargain.
Doug was spot on in his Soundtestroom appraisal.
Will there be any more presets to come?

--this is the perfect app for the iPhone--I'm most apt to use something like this when I'm on the go and want to knock out something quick. Any chance you could optimize the UI for phone a bit?

Thanks for the feedback, any suggestions for a better phone UI?

One thing I've noticed is you can't slide your finger around from pad to pad ala Figure as it won't pick up the touch unless you lift your finger off first and then touch again. You have to touch each pad separately.

This is the biggest thing I notice right away. Any way this can be addressed?

Never occurred to me, thanks for bringing it up!

Now, Anyone having Sync issues with it's Ableton Link?
Seems the Sync is working at half speed with Maschine....

Could you give it a try with a different app? haven't seen it happen before..

Nice little app. Reminds me of What Figure could of been. Anyway, I cannot get Link syncing properly either, same as @VerbaLee . Tried it with FunkBox, DM1, ect. The only apps that it sort of did, was with TroubleMaker. ;)

so many things done right here. Playful, super fast to use, enough stuff to tweak, as inspiring as an old school drum machine.
thngs that would be nice, in decreasing order of importance

    • option to turn quantization off when recording (as someone said too already)
    • EDIT: instead of quantization options that other ppl mentioned here, having the bpm to go way more up, so you can bypass quantization limits by creating a 720bpm track (120 times x 6) and thus write whatever length of notes u like without messing the view with super small grids is far better option imho, esp if we can get 8 or 16 bars etc loops.
    • all drum sounds able to be pitch-shifted with glide (like in fluxpad), or is this possible already and i dint just see it? only some of them were (EDIT: found it! )
    • randomize, or hold button for breaks (for the latter, see drum machine 2 for example)
    • dublicate for note edit, so you can copy a pattern you just did and then expand it to, say, two bars and then edit the 2nd bar
    • also delete only this one vs. all , and delete individual drum lines (eg hihat) would be helpful

but like even without any of that i love this, just what i want from a beats app, nothing too fancy, super straightforward. loving the wav export, really happy it is there, for my use this is standalone beat-maker, i cant see how it would get any better than this esp. with sample import. thanks!!

  • +i think it is crucial there aren't too many options to fiddle with, because then i stop making music and start tweaking bs details. This app has the balance just right for loop making

  • edited July 2017

+also the echo write (in Patterning) is worth stealing, ie select distance X between notes, write a note and it automatically copies that note to every Xth note.
    EDIT:

    or

the ability to select "edit bar 1 only / edit all bars", ie. whether your actions affect all bars or not.

  • Did I mention pattern or song mode?

    Er. Yeah. Yeah I did.

Must be desperate. But only because I find it delicious to come up with a little groove or melody in this intuitive and fine little app and want to hear it/chain it to something else, the next bit, and hear both in context and thereafter tweak back and forth in real time. You know, actual song writing! Which sounds like I'm being a noodlemuffin, but the facility to Actually Write Tunes is a rare and magical Selling Proposition in this man's army etc .

i get what youre heading at. But if you have, say, 16 bars at your disposal, then that is the same as song mode, no?

Yeah pattern mode, where you can move from one drum pattern to next while the keys etc keep on looping the same thing, or whatnot, is always nice, but personally i'd be happy if this would just stay as a linear, timeline-based thing, just perhaps with more bars than 4 or what was it the current limit at, so it doesnt become too options-filled. B)

  • Only just saw this thread, downloaded the app and bought the pro unlock after 2 minutes of playing around

    Wow, just wow

This blows Pulse completely out of the water

    Fantastic app

haha, but, what is a song mode if not merely more bars?
ps rly liked yr song of month track cheers

  • A song mode where you're able to create several tracks and sequence them together into a song would be nice.

You can import your own samples for the drum machine through itunes on your mac.

An option to import from AudioShare would be very popular around here

  • @BeatonalDev, on the subject of scales, I always like a chromatic option. Really enjoying playing with this.

  • @BeatonalDev Having a few problems with the app when running audio through my Novation Audio Hub 2x4 as the sound comes out mono only from my iOS device. I have a bunch of other Apps which I don't have a problem with using my audio interface so this is really weird?

If I unplug it from the audio interface and play back via headphones from the iPad jack it's fine.

Any help appreciated. I'm Liking the app so much just downloaded the Android version that seems to be working in stereo via my audio interface?

Hoping. To send midi out to Caustic for Android.

    Yes. Chromatic is essential.
User defined scales too. See tc-data for a very flexible scheme.

Another wish for audioshare support for sample import.

Guys you can make the playing surface and editor chromatic at the instrument level. It's under the MORE arrow; Main section. Knob for scale size

Thank you! Found it. Now it would be great to select the note range...even with the Apple Pencil, it's hard to play that chromatic keyboard. Piano layout (white/black notes) and customisable keyboard range would be easier.

Edit. Forget it, it's already there on the same page. This is really well thought out, and I'm being thick. Kudos to the dev.

  • @BeatonalDev So happy to see so much people going for your app! I had it on Android and didn't notice it on iOS until now. Already left a review on Google Play and now I'm buying the iAP on my iPad too <3
BTW, can you set long notes on custom pattern?
