Just got on to check if anyone has tested this. I'm upgrading now.
Change is titled: 'Fixes an issue where crackling sounds may occur during calls for a small number of iPhone 8 and 8 Plus devices.'
Fingers crossed!
Updated to 11.0.2
Latency still there for me after a few minutes in beathawk and AUM
So after several beta updates of iOS 11, it's full release, plus two minor updates, still no fix, no acknowledgement of a problem, very worrying indeed.
One would assume that buying "Pro" products at premium prices would include "pro" support to get problems for professional users swiftly sorted out. Or at least acknowledged. It´s just an iPad Big, there is nothing pro about it.
Sadly, the word “Pro” on any Apple device is just a marketing ploy of Apple. Apps run a lot better on my ordinary iPad mini 4 and iPad Air 2 than they do on my so called iPad Pro. It’s sad that Apple don’t give a damn about the Pro Audio market anymore and they would rather sell silly devices for people to make funny faces at to create emojis.
I was wondering the same thing.

Also, if this fixes the latency or not?
I've been following this discussion with interest as I have been considering upgrading from my iPad mini 2 - but now holding back as my present setup works so don't want to "fix" something that's not particularly "broken."
The discussion has focused on the Pro models. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the 2017 iPad (9.7 - not the Pro model) and if the same issues arise. Sorry if it's already been covered and I've missed it.
I check back into this thread occasionally to make myself feel better about being stuck with an Air2/Mini4 combo.
Has anybody suffered latency through mini jack cans when using this:

Who knows, Apple may set a trend for screwing things up, if they are allowed, so I wouldn't feel too comfortable stuck with the Air 2, it is only a matter of time, until you have to upgrade.
Hopefully there’ll be a correlation between Apple fixing their shit and my ability to afford it!
The word "Pro" in product contexts hasn't meant what it used to mean since the mid-80s (together with empty words like "Turbo", "2000" and "Platinum"). That's not just an Apple thing
I’m a pro (crastinator)
I am also wondering about the ipad 9.7, At the moment I am using Air 2, but it is not mine so not sure if I can keep using it.
This is taking a toll on Apples audio reputation, and audio stability is the main reason for me at least to use Apple products.
The older 9.7 Pro is fine, with regard latency and the related audio breakup. But yes it probably is damaging Apples Rep amongst music users and producers, but the real question is does Apple give a damn about us.
So I got 2017 12.9 and confirm headphone jack crackling
But lightning USB in or out audio crystal clear. Tried with behringer mixer and Auria Pro recording for several minutes. No latency with many apps. ISymphonic shows 32 ms latency whatever that means
On 10.3.3
Just a thought, had same cracking when my mixer was set at 48 and Auria was 44.1. Setting both to 48 kHz fixed it when I had brain fart earlier
Could it be that iOS has discordant audio sampling for headphone jack?/
I will try that this weekend on my next vid, I can't make 10 min videos at this point with the headphone.....
At least there are some important updates for 11.1:

Even if there still should be crackling noise, at least it will be easier to express your feelings about it more precisely..
I wonder if they create a festering apple with maggots for eyes, nose and mouth
Have you considered approaching MacRumors.com and 9to5mac.com ?
This is really good to know - really appreciate this.
I think this is a good idea. Personally, I have not had any of these issues yet with my 10.5" Pro, but it's still concerning to me. Like many here, I have invested thousands of dollars in iOS hardware and apps over the years, specifically to make music, and had hoped that the latest and greatest devices would take things forward in capabilities rather than backwards.
As much as I appreciate the music oriented publications, I really think this issue needs to be reported by more mainstream magazines and blogs, particularly in light of the announcement of the 'Today at Apple' events planned for next year. These are in-store workshops highlighting the use of Apple devices in creative pursuits, including music. In their press release, Apple even show a kid using Garageband on an iPad.

I may write to a few people myself, but feel a little unqualified as I have not experienced any problems; maybe some sort of online petition is in order?

i got this reply when posting details of the problem on the user support forum.. which is 6 or 7 pages of people detailing the issue, a little heavy on the capitals for me but the gist of it is maybe sensible .. hammer the ipad feedback pages as Apple can't be bothered to keep an eye on even their own user forum, never mind forums actually dedicated to their platform!!

"Ipad pro 10.5 audio out latency
You DO realise that you are NOt addressing ANY cognizant or responsible Apple emolyees here.
These are user to user support pages supplied and moderated by a specific Apple staff that does not report directly back to cognizant Apple technical teams, at all!
We are all users here just like you.
FOR EVERYONE POSTING IN HERE, THE ONLY WAY TO GET APPLE'S EYES ON THIS MAJOR ISSUES IS TO KEEP HAMMERING THEM WITH FEEDBACK FROM APPLE'S iPad FEEDBACK PAGE LINK HERE!!!!
iPad Feedback
http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html
Cognizant Apple team employees read ALL feedback that come from ALL the feedback links, but they do NOT reply/respond to individual feedback.
KEEP HAMMERING THE FEEDBACK PAGES ON THIS ISSUE UNTIL APPLE ACKNOWLEDGES THIS AS A MAJOR ISSUE!!!
IF YOU DO NOT KEEP DOING THIS, APPLE WILL NEVER KNOW THE FULL EXTENT OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE NEW iPad PRO MODELS AND MAKING MUSIC WITH THE iPad!!!
KEEP HAMMERING THE FEEDBACK PAGES!!!!
Good Luck to ALL on this issue!!!!!"
end quote.... the feedback page only allows a certain amount of words in it's tiny reply box... but I think we have to take the lady at her word and bombard it.. I posted one already.. over to you guys.
p.s. No, I don,t know what an Emolyee is either, some kind of mutation between a greasy Emolient and an Employee I guess?
Wonder what Gaz from over at SonicTouch/SonicState is doing these days he somethimes popped into the forum.
Could be, it seems like sometime in the last year or so Apple switched to using 48khz as the default in iOS.
Wouldn't that alter the tuning and speed of playback?
No, sample rate conversion and all that. And apps can over ride the default to use what they want too.
