So simple, so perfect, so yes, so please.
Navichord goes exceptionally well with any arpeggiator. I’ve been using it with the IceGear synths and their built in arps!
+1 (or, as discussed earlier, option to set up medi channels by rows, rather than columns)
Is it useful to keep existing way of channel output? Would anyone miss it if I just replace it with the sorted way (lowest note goes to Voice 1)?
Ha-ha, yes, section repeat is on the map
Maybe if you replace it with the sorted way (lowest note goes to Voice 1) - but then add an extra MIDI out - which ALWAYS sends out the LOWEST instance of the ROOT - that might cover most situations I think. But i admit I'm thinking on the fly here.
I can for example a scenario where I want a bass guitar to always play the root, but have - say a cello instrument playing the lowest note of the chord ( root or not ) and then a third "ensemble strings" instrument playing the remaining notes.
What do others think ?
So true! send bass to one instrument. chords to another and then chords to an arpeggiator and you get some wonderful stuff.

*** By the way what would you like to see on the new view without the grid and the keyboard?
*** Just bigger 4x4 pads with chord picker and voicing?
I'd like to see both the chord-selector area and the transpose/randomise areas all the time. No flipping
And Maybe also some kind of editor functionality "strip" or toolbar with buttons such as multiple-select, copy, cut, paste, duplicate, insert, delete..
I guess I don't know as yet how i'd use the area where the piano keyboard exists at the moment so maybe leave that.
On the other hand it might not do you any harm to take a look at ChordPolyPad and see if theres anything in how CPP uses the screen-space that you could borrow ideas from.
If the grid were removed I'd instead keep both the chord-selector and transpose-randomise panels displayed at all times maybe ?
Plus add a new toolbar with common editing buttons such as cut/paste/copy/duplicate/insert/delete
and enter(exit)-multiple-select-mode. And Paste-selection.
As to the keyboard being removed - haven't actually got any ideas for what to replace it with - maybe keep it ? Or take a look at ChordPolypad to see how that utilises screen space?
Of course one way CPP uses the extra space is to allow more than 16 pads in a single section... food for thought maybe ?
@Navichord - it has probably been mentioned before ( and maybe its a feature but i just haven't "RTFM" - but now we have SONG MODE - we really need the ability to copy and paste more than one pad at once.
Also - i thought of another way the extra screen real-estate could be used up if the grid and piano were removed:
Make the pads much bigger - in order to add a new feature: "HALF-PADS" !
Lets say for arguments sake that we want to have a section that is mostly just 4 beats per pad - and we have a 16 pad section - 16 bars of 4/4 to be sequence. BUT... occasionally we want a bar to have two chord - each taking up 2 beats. Rather than have each 2 beat (half-bar ) chord take up a seperare pad - allow a single pad to have TWO halves! that would make things visually clear. Each trailerable but also sequenced as expected.
All this is clearly slowly creeping towards an arranger kind of thing -
But i'd not make NC into an auto-accompaniment beast - but once some common protocol standard emerges for communicating chord-progression metadata between apps - it would be cool to be able to send MIDI and chord info - from NC to not just an arpeggiator - like StepPolyPad - but also arranger type apps and pattern playing apps ! - where - like GrooveBox - the patterns automatically conform to the chord-metadata being sent by NC ( or other such apps )
neither band in a box or iRealB allow this kind of live-chord playing thing - coupled with AudioBus3 compatibility. And have to say- AudioBus3 ( or upcoming AUv3 MIDI out support ) really makes Navichord into something special .
Don’t get rid of the onboard keyboard please. If anything make it optional if you were to want increase screen Realstate. Navichord is truly being used on everything I do now and had become a must have tool.
If you consider optional use of screen real estate, my vote would go to an area with simple XY buttons for midi CC. I would use them for "jamming" with arpeggiator parameter settings in an app like Cream, while playing the chord pads that are sent to Cream as well. It is doable today, but only for two different CC values at a time, and only while pressing a chord pad at the same time. The new buttons could let the user define midi channel and midi CCs for X/Y axis for each button separately.
I'd say it is probably good to keep the existing way as an option, there may be situations were that is preferred and people with legacy projects etc.
Oh, and one other feature that would be nice: an IAP "buy the dev a coffee"
Haha, Apple will drink 30% of that coffee

Funny, over the last few days I have people asking how to send money. I guess the update was useful
Don't worry, I will not remove the keyboard. If another layout comes to life it would be addition, not subtraction.
Thanks so glad !
I was using Navichord to drive Syntronik multis and it was really cool to drive those Arps via Navichord’s Song Mode.
not just that update but also the evolution of the app in general and your committment to quality ...
This is an incredible app that continues to grow in wonderful ways. Nice work!
Exactly.
I am finding this app extremely useful. Will their perhaps be a tutorial for the update?
A song mode tutorial is planned! As for now you can refer to the last Intro page from Settings.
Thank you guys, it means a lot.
Was just thinking, right now Navichord is playing a really nice chord progression on my iPhone SE where Beathawk is playing the Bass notes and wondered, how awesome it would be to have Navichord arpegiate that bass note!
It’s already AB3 compatible, has state saving, Ableton Link, oh my this app is pure joy!!!
Well one can dream right? Maybe someday?
I use IceGear synths with arps on and have one of them (usually Lorentz) set to ‘program’ then all notes left on ‘1’, which gives me an even note value (variable) bassline for the lowest note of the structure. Obviously different rhythmic patterns would be achievable by tweaking.
Thanks! That sounds better instead of bloating Navichord. It’s so beautiful Igor now and working like a Swiss made watch!!! Good thing right?
Might also look into Sunrizer iPhone.
Right now Model 15 is having lots of issues with IOS11.
Is there a way to record the arpegiated midi output? As midi and not as wav file.
You could record MIDI into BM3 using note repeat functions and delete the upper harmonic material manually. If you used Viking Synth for bass then the ‘lowest’ setting under retrigger might work as a ‘bassline follower’ function. Not tested.
I’ll check it out. I want the app to definitely follow the chord progression and then once the midi is recorded I wanna go back and select iFretless Bass to have it sound like a real Bass. Or delete, tweak parts.
You've been busy! Thanks for the ideas.
There is no way to copy several sections at once.
The half-pads idea looks fresh, but I see issues with MIDI mapping and iPhone-version compatibility.
Arpeggiator would be nice, I also have that on my radar.
Navichord sending Song section chord progressions into Step Poly Arp is amazing!!!
Just got SPA today and I am blown away!!! SPA sending the Arp chord progressions into Zeeon and jaw almost hit the floor, seriously!
Thanks you Navichord dev!
Thanks SPA dev!
Thanks Zeeon dev!!!
Thanks Groovebox Dev!
So much fun creating!
Sounds cool, any chance of a video?
Yeah I was gonna make one but got so caught up tweaking SPA as it drove Zeeon that time just passed by.
That’s what I truly love about Navichord that now with Song Mode you can just let it play your chord progressions as you concentrate on tweaking other stuff. It’s amazing!
