I'm thinking this will require apps to update to a newer Link version. None of my Link enabled apps will take control of the play button just yet.. it does look like you can place the playhead anywhere in arrangement view and Live will join in at a time of your choosing
Looks like an upgrade to Live 10 Suite will run me $287 CAD. > @Munibeast said:
They have a solid track record of supporting each release for a long time, so while the banner features may be a little underwhelming, it’s a safe bet that they will continue to make major improvements. Ableton has been supporting Live 9 since March 2013 — five full years by the time Live 10 comes out. Within Live 9’s lifetime, Reason has seen five paid releases (v7 - v10).
Not to criticize Propellerheads, of course. Reason is fantastic software and they don’t ask too much for upgrades. But in the context of their version lifespans, Ableton’s upgrade prices are surprisingly gentle.
Now compare it to Logic’s...
I think MPE will arrive swiftly once the standard has been properly agreed upon. Max for live heads will expand the possibilities soon after.
People have been screaming for MP3 export since the first versions, never bothered me personally. I enjoyed seeing it listed at the very end of the first promo video, i think they knew certain viewers would be filling with rage over this issue.
It’s a valid point: a full Logic Pro X license costs a little bit less than my Ableton upgrade, and Apple has been supporting LPX since 2013 with no paid upgrades on the horizon. Logic is fantastic value if you’re using Apple hardware to begin with, which I am, but it’s not exactly a fair comparison — Apple discounts Logic to sell computers. They wouldn’t be able to sustain development if they didn’t also profit off of the machines running their software.
It’s a year old.
SysEx is here! New MIDI Monitor Device added in the latest Beta.
And Surround Device now in Beta
Between Reason and Live, updates are getting REALY expensive. I can get so many great iOS apps for the cost of those two updates, and I don't know if the upgrades are worth it at that point. Bring Korg Gadget for mac into the picture and things start getting complicated... which one to focus on?
I've kind of gravitated the other way tbh. With he performance of the new iPads and iOS updates sorely lacking in stabilty I've started using iOS less and less. Still use all the synth apps as a sound source via my Ica4+ but I've started doing most of my sequencing in ableton. I might actually grab abl10 and skip getting iOS apps altogether at this point. On top of that VCVrack has kind of sated my endless need for new synths by being much more synth than I will ever need. And for FREE.
I've been doing this for a while now. But still use the iPad as a scratch pad for ideas.
I’m goingkrazy100x1000 a bit too... wondering about ditch iOS and focus on dedicated hardware due to the last Apple movements (discontinuing mini series, crackles and stability...) and some missing apps like arrangers, Traktor, Ableton warping...
I’m getting old for this $h17...
what's the deal with the upgrade pricing on Live, if you upgrade live 9 standard to suite, you get live 10 standard or live 10 suite for free?
You will get the v10 version of whatever version you buy during the current promotion. If you upgrade to Suite now, you will get Suite v10 when it drops.
This isn't exactly correct. you only get Live 10 Suite if you buy/upgrade to Live 9 Suite.
If i'm not mistaken Live 10 Standard is not given if you buy Live 9 Standard.
I’m pretty sure you get live 10 standard, once it is out if you upgraded to Live 9 stardard From say the lite 9 version which is the route I took once the deal was issued a few months back.
https://www.ableton.com/en/shop/live-10/
no more Lite version, is this so?
There will probably be a lite version once it's gets announced.
Thing is. When I went to buy the upgrade to get 10. It mentioned that it was only available for suite upgrades and not standard. It's the main reason I bought live 9 suite. Not that I wasn't going to buy it anyways. Specially since standard no longer includes max4live.
makes sense suite to suite.... sweet.
Anyone know when the cheaper upgrade price ends?
what 'cheaper' upgrade price?
If you grab the free Ableton 9 lite from gadget or any of the iOS apps. You can upgrade to Live 9 Suite for just 519$ currently. This includes the free upgrade to Ableton 10 Suite (the live 10 upgrade alone will cost 200+ $ later.) all upgrades are currently 20% off.
@Michael_R_Grant i’m Assuming it will only last till 10 launches. Which considering is supposed to be Q1 2018 it could literally be any day now.
...."just" $519.....lol.
ahh ok, yeah I'm gonna upgrade from live 9 standard.
Lol. Considering retail price for 10 suite later is 749$.... It's a substantial reduction.
The current sale is only good until Live 10 is officially released, which as mentioned could be any time now. I'd say there's still a good bit to go though, most of the devs have been on holiday the last couple weeks
