  • Tarekith, can you assign custom midi notes to pads in Live 10 now?

  • Tarekith I know you can't say when it will arrive in ableton but can you say whether it's going to happen or not that we are able to manipulate warp markers with the push 2 controller?

Between Reason and Live, updates are getting REALY expensive. I can get so many great iOS apps for the cost of those two updates, and I don't know if the upgrades are worth it at that point. Bring Korg Gadget for mac into the picture and things start getting complicated... which one to focus on?

I've kind of gravitated the other way tbh. With he performance of the new iPads and iOS updates sorely lacking in stabilty I've started using iOS less and less. Still use all the synth apps as a sound source via my Ica4+ but I've started doing most of my sequencing in ableton. I might actually grab abl10 and skip getting iOS apps altogether at this point. On top of that VCVrack has kind of sated my endless need for new synths by being much more synth than I will ever need. And for FREE.

Many people are working on paid modules for vcv, there are already a few available right now. It's cool. Better to spend a few dollars on a nice module than a dinky app I may never open again

I've actually grabbed Able10 already now. Absolutely loving the beta. Along with Vcv I'm pretty happy currently :)

  • Love the new updates for the Push2 as well. Great to be able to do even more cool stuff with it. Also, Live10 finally looks great in my HighDPI windows laptop.

I have no idea. The current beta test should give you an idea of what to expect when Live 10 is released.

  • I know that's not going to be in the release, I'm just curious about how feasible it is. I'm almost certain it's one of the top push request.

  • Will be released February 6th for those that were asking earlier :)

  • I'm finally buying Live suite after sitting on the fence for years because I'm rarely interested in clip launching as a writing process.
Meanwhile, Cycling 74's involvement has kept me really poised to jump in.
The BIG thing that has tipped me over the edge is the 8ch surround panning which solves daunting technical software panning issues for me with my installation works.

@Tarekith - have you had a chance fiddle with the surround panning aspect?
I wonder how this will work? - if will we be able to record the 8 channels onto multitrack surround stems...

There is any audio format capable of that? AFAIK Flac has 6 channels... maybe some non compressed format? Max should be cappable of write any format with the proper object or even an abstraction due new transport module implemented in Max7.

  • So is Max7 fully operational in Live10?
I have Max5 and not sure if I should upgrade it - or is there no point if I get Live10?

I haven't used it yet, sorry. I don't have a surround capable set up at the moment.

I believe that the version included with Live 10 is actually Max 8, which is not yet available standalone. I have no idea how the Max upgrades work to be honest.

  • every time I think about getting an mpc x I just turn on ableton and push 2 and the desire for the mpc-x just evaporates

    Thanks @Dubbylabby
    looking very promising :)
With Cycling 74 on board - the platform is a must have, sorta leaves everything in its wake as far as writing.
(but Reaper leaves it for dead when running multitrack audio)
Thankfully I will be using both (with IOS)
