@theconnactic this one is much more synth-driven that your usual - although the guitar is really nice when it comes in. I like the main riff/theme, it has a slightly unusual flavour, not sure if it's a slightly exotic scale but it's almost middle-eastern sounding. Cool tune, nice dynamics and changes.
@Jocphone and @Bluepunk this is definitely a cool and quirky Christmas tune, I really like the way it sounds like it's almost falling apart at the seams, like a performance by two slightly inebriated brothers at a family reunion.
Bluey sounds like a cross between Shane McGowan and Peter Doherty, right on the edge of chaos, and Jocphone, your voice really reminds of Syd Barrett (see below).
Despite the swearing it's a pretty heartwarming and tuneful song. Let's hear some more - I am especially fond of duets, so I'm liking this collaboration.
Heavy Duty sellotape dispensers are satisfying. Have you got one?.....
@rickwaugh @studs1966 @nothumanatall @moff @LostBoy85 @Shaken&Stirred @Tarekith @lukesleepwalker @JohnnyGoodyear @theconnactic @DefRobot @trackedout @richardyot @Jocphone
It would’ve been later if not for the lumen illumination from @JohnnyGoodyear. Thanks.
I believe you are now the new Viv Westwood, @bluepunk
@Bluepunk
I couldn’t understand half of what you said (not a native speaker, no captions available) but I still watched till the end and can say that it was much more interesting and amusing than I expected Also, thanks for listening!
All singers I'm pretty fond of, Syd in particular has occupied more than his fair share of my attention over the years but I'm not sure I sing all that much like him. Then again, could never hear my parents reputedly broad Lancashire accents either. Have just been given a record player so Opel will be returning to annoy the neighbours soon though.
Not particularly a lover of duets personally, but have made it a mission to experiment with abusing that particular form this coming year or five.
@Bluepunk, you once again cap the month to perfection. I will never get another review as, um, vivid as that, ever.
And I must say, this month's fashion sense was extraordinary.
That's already made my year, and it's only the 8th of January.
@Bluepunk Loved the whole thing, incipient controlled madness. Hafta say the SOUND of all those baubles getting scattered at the end is the sort of thing that some directors would spend a week trying to have that clattering perfect smash sound. If there were to be a capsule of our efforts here for the future to puzzle over (and they would) this would do the job entire. B+
Actually Johnny, i would give @Bluepunk an "A"............. Superb & totally brilliant @Bluepunk.........
My sides and eyebrows hurt, @Bluepunk. The former because I laughed so hard for so long--seriously brilliant and viciously funny stuff. And the latter because I raised them with every unexpected turn. I too watched as the balls and baubles amassed on the desk/table throughout the piece and then delighted in the bouncing/breaking of them. Well played, sir. Extra appreciation for the New Rose clip--RAWK!
Words fail me, señor Punk, I thoroughly enjoyed that! Thanks again for all the effort, for listening, and the kind words in your generous B+ grading of Drips.
you asked what the chord is at 1:10, 1:14 and 1:21. That's all during the verse, which has the progression:
Am - F - Em - F - Dm - Cadd9 - G
At 1:10 is the Am, but I think you're probably referring to the Cadd9, which is at 1:14 and 1:21. I played on guitar like this:
e|---3--- B|---3--- G|---0--- D|---2--- A|---3--- E|-------
and underneath it on the synth was
C4 D4 E4 G4
Hope this helps.
You have ALL touched me with kindness. Thank you. December has dragged on long enough don’t you think so I’ll go play Cadd9 (that’s a lot of effort to go through. Thanks) and leave you with something that will get me banned from the British Bauble Breeders Society. Good. Have you ever heard bonking baubles before? Lap it up....Hologram decs are on their way.

BONKING BAUBLES!
@Bluepunk: Since you reminded me of my days listening to The Damned non-stop, here's a tune I wrote/recorded as a young punk that is 30 years old this winter:
Wow!...... Fab stuff. The Damned were great, tho I was more a "Rude Boy", than a "Punk Rocker")...... in fact have you thought of doing a UK Ska version? (Instrumental).
Wasn’t expecting anarchy with the Alpen this morning and thanks for the last minute gift. Mmmm. Thinking back to the review (and after hearing you ‘giving it some’ here) Cry and Hue could queue. The collab will not. The ‘Lord Lukans’ met through their shared love of the sound of baubles clattering to a wooden floor. The Damned can’t say that.
Good honest Punk Rock Luke. More please.
@DefRobot (sorry for getting to this so late, I got a bit too behind on my reviews), this is a very nice slice of melodic rock - the vocal melody is great and has a really nice 60s feel to it, the guitar riffs have a great groove and are very hooky, dynamics are also very good - so it has all the ingredients for a well crafted and compelling track. Good job.
Thanks @richardyot
No worries, I know you’ve had a lot on your plate building wise.
Hope you are back to full recording facilities now?!
@Bluepunk that was genius!!
Not quite yet! Main problem is there is nowhere I can sing without either annoying the wife or waking the kids up in the evening. And weekends are filled with work and house-related jobs. We'll see if I can record anything in January...
Maybe use the early @LostBoy85 method..? Drive out somewhere and sing in the car
I did actually consider this - but I would feel like a bit of a tit doing it...
Cars parked in secluded places could be mistaken for activities other than recording vocals
Both reasons why I didn't try this myself. I simply moved house..
I can see it now, in the local paper: middle-aged music geek arrested for dogging in secluded car park at night....
I'll ask lostboy for legal advice
I think there needs to be other people involved for it to count.
Well I wouldn't know
Wow, man, you're the best
Wow, man!
I think you did it in first seconds, shot in the head
You should make ambient track with this sound, it's a law!
Overall song is beatiful and chill, lovely voice, soft distortion
all sounds great as for me
good job
p.s. Sorry guys, i will post my late comments for your great tracks in this thread
I hope no one is against this, you're the best!
I agree with Mr @richardyot......... A good job indeedy....
