Is it true the Spotify sampling (the big draw card for me) is a random 30 seconds?

If so it will take me less than that long to pass on this one.

How come this isn’t mentioned in bold in the App Store description?

And if it is, can you move the 30 sec window in the track to where you want to sample or do you only get the random slot?

Yeah, I think this is the same as it was in Hook. I can't imagine the RIAA would allow unhindered sampling from Spotify. This is kind of lame, but it makes for happy-accident sampling, and there are plenty of workarounds.

Ta for the response, I can see the happy accident thing but it’s not enough for me to warrant adding this to my other DAW/Beatbox options.

Does anyone else have problems with iMPC Pro 2 failing to recall which AudioUnit instrument preset was loaded when a file is reopened? It's pretty consistent (mis)behaviour on my version....

Impc pro 2 does not currently recall the preset used in the AU so you have to make note of the preset name in the song title or use some other method to remember it. I think Retronyms mentioned they are looking into it.

  • It does for me. I’ve used Zeeon and Infinite AU Synths and it does recall.

It doesn't recall the Phasemaker preset that I love. (Or any, I guess.)
Also, is it possible to reposition an audio track? You can pitch it or edit the beginning or end or trim out any section, but it seems it can't move on the grid once it's there.

OK thanks @MusicMan4Christ, I will have to check them out ,I have not yet used Zeeon and Infinite in impc Pro so glad It's not all AU's that have an issue recalling the preset.

This preset recall deal does seem case by case...

  • Hey guys I sampled Sampletank into impc pro 2 but how do I make that sample loop on a pad?

Zach from Retronyms emailed me this when I asked the same question (I posted it up the thread someplace but I couldn’t find it, so this is from his email)

“It sounds like you're wanting to resample your audio tracks as drum samples? The best way to do that is with the "RESAMPLE" tab under "NEW SOUND".

    1. Goto the Mixer tab and solo the audio track you want to resample.
    2. Make sure you have a drum track selected in the Track menu at the top of the screen.
    3. Go to the Tweak tab.
    4. Focus on the pad you want to sample onto.
    5. Select "NEW SOUND".
    6. Select the "RESAMPLE" tab.
    7. Tap "REC ARM".
    8. Tap "PLAY" on the transport to play your soloed Audio Track and sample it.
    9. Tap "STOP" on the sampler to capture the sample and enter edit mode.
    10. Trim/Edit the sample until it is perfect! ;)
    11. Tap "Done".”

This works for anything you’ve already laid down in tracks, your audiotrack of Sampletank or anything else from IAA, or live mic’d audio tracks, AU tracks, or other drum tracks...

Couldn't you chop to pads as described in the docs, then turn on latch mode for whichever pads you want to loop?

If you want to chop to pads from the audio track, you have to bounce the track from Trackview to AudioCopy - touch the clip and you get the option - then paste it back into a pad...then “edit sound” from the pad to get to the chop-to-pads params.

So, anything sampled via IAA is automatically assigned to an audio track?

Yep and it’s laid down on the timeline in sync with the rest of your tracks, same as if you were recording live via mic.

  • I went to the resample page and in there I selected Sampletank. Then in ST I pressed on the guitar Arp I wanted to sample. I sampled it but then when I went to tweak page I see one shot and hold option but need loop. I’ll try the edit page and see.

Thanks for the info. I'll leave you guys to it, but something seems off to me with this sampling workflow.

  • It’s actually quite easy and I’m just an Electric Guitar player. Sampling is rare for me, but somehow this MPC Pro2 just gets my attention so much more. This and Auria Pro are getting some good Love from me right now. Gonna see if I can sync them up.

Hey if anyone has SampleTank please try this: enable Ableton Link in MPC Pro2 and even though SampleTank doesn’t have Link, once I launch it in the resampling page, I get the upper notification that a new app joined Link. Could it be that ST is about to get Link?

Actually, you can go to tweak then select new sound then select inter-app from the bottom tab
select the app you want to sample arm the recording then when your done sampling you can chop to pad or do whatever. Or you can record to an audio track as outlined above.

No, I don't think you can move it, other than stretching it. I think the idea is your suppose to record the part in as it looping in real-time so it should fall into place.

  • Ok so once I do this, the recorded sample, how do I make that sample a loop so it can loop when I touch the pad.

To make a loop go to “edit sound”, “slice loop” and stretch the end marker to the end of the sample. (You can’t set 1 slice in params but you can do it with the marker)
Set the # of beats appropriately. When you set pad to hold the pad will loop.

  • edited January 2018

@MusicMan4Christ well the only way I know how to do it is to say you have a 2 bar loop on a pad then just press
record and press the pad in time with the metronome and it will record a perfect loop. Then use the mutes or mixer to shut on and off. Edit: Listen to @Littlewoodg

  • Anyone having issues with getting past the 90% completion screen on the iMPC U?
I’ve uploaded the YouTube video assignment twice thru Audiocopy but screen still says 90%. Please help. Thnks.

The issue I had with this was making sure my video was set up as public rather than private...

  • Thanks. Yeah I set it right before posting it asked me so I set it to public.

  • Ok, thanks, it finally worked. I guess, i had to leave the iMPC PRO2 app open all the time through posting the vid on YouTube in order to have it finalize the assignment. I had closed the app too soon. So now it shows 100% complete. Cool!
