Girls Last Tour on Amazon Prime

Sometime in the distant future, two girls are constantly looking for food and other supplies in a huge post-apocalyptic city in ruins, with the rest of humanity presumably dead. The premise sounds boring and bleak but I guess I was hooked by girls' conversations as they speculate on what life in the past was like, whether robots are alive or not, etc. as well their interactions, eg. the impulsive one getting beat up by the reflective one after she sets the other girl's book on fire.

It should be depressing but somehow it's light-hearted.

  • bout to break out some Picard on CBS, who's down?

  • I really enjoyed it. Got rushed at times, but it was really well done I thought. Looking forward to season 2 definitely.

  • yeah the Discovery seasons were rushed too imo, looking Forward to Picard though

  • Watched Johnny Depp in The Professor, followed by the remainder of Dark Skies, which I started last night. Both not bad, though Dark Skies could have had a bit more depth/story to it.

Brockmire. Written by and starring Hank Azaria. One of the funnier tv shows, now in its 4th season.

I lasted a season. Appreciated it tremendously. Sort of broke my heart.

You've furrowed my brow. You appreciated it but found it... a bit of a slog?

No, not a slog at all. Little bites of occasionally brilliant. But I have a very large pathos organ and there was something sad in the funny that I found twisting (for me).

  • We started to watch „the chosen“ yesterday. Really good and really fitting into the season ;)

    It’s free and IMDB 9.9

That’s one hell of a track record.

  • Anything involving Phoebe Waller-Bridge. No one writes about sex and avoids feeling like porn. It does make my wife very uncomfortable but she does learn to see the characters as real people and how sex is really easy to abuse to cover a lot of issues. You can only get there by taking the journey to the bottom.

2 Seasons of "Fleabag" on Prime Video (and a downloadable live stage video of the original play)
3 Seasons of Killing Eves with the 3rd starting yesterday in the US
    Crashing in Netflix

She has writing credit on the now delayed Bond movie so the Bond sex might have more
meaning as add extra dimension to the Byronic Hero prototype. Maybe the female will get to him to expose his deeper issues with women.

  • Animal Kingdom series on Prime

  • I haven’t but I’ll add that to the watchlist, thanks!

I thought the second season of Fleabag was even better than the first and it ended perfectly. I sincerely hope she rejects all entreaties to do more...work of art.

The first 2 seasons were great! The last couple seasons not quite as good

I agree the 2nd season was better and I recall she really didn't want to write it thinking the story ended with the reveal at the end of season 1. But these characters still have power in their relationships and she can introduce a new "love interest" since that position is open at the end of #2 or she can really corrupt the priest and have another "go at it". People love the Hot Priest too and his vocation... not so much. I'm sure a real catholic didn't get this far... my sister couldn't and she's a regular mass and meeting addict (ex-addict too).

Love Phoebe’s writing! First time I saw her was on a chat show interview. Was immediately impressed with her refreshing attitude and persona.

Searched and watched her TV output and was not disappointed.

A genuinely funny and smart talent.

  • Now I'm working through the Bong Joon Ho catalogue having only seen "The Host" and "Snowpiercer". I started with the acclaimed "Parasites" and just started "Okja". It will be harder to find "Mother".

He writes from the perspective and frustration of Bernie Sanders if he had the ability to
connect his anger with poetry, empathy and compassion. Bernie would have won with that trifecta. Anger doesn't get you above 30% but that 30% will kill for you. Power corrupts and Bernie has avoided being corrupted but his run for power is probably over.
He will continue to negotiate for a spot at the table.

Biden probably get s a lot of points for showing he didn't want it but he believes he should
stand up. If he can just avoid getting angry about the shit that going to be launched he'll do well I think. But I really hope he's got a powerful bench of advisers that work well together since he's no Obama with natural executive leadership skills.

If you disagree... shred's your favorite media: "13 Hours" about Bengazi. ("Ben Casie, Ben Casie, Ben Casie" immortal lines from Sam Jaffee about the TV Doctor named... ). How did I get this old?

  • Watched the first two episodes of Prime’s ‘Tales from the Loop’...

Interesting, but good god, talk about S L O W! Seems as if they could have been told in half or even less than the 54-minutes per episode.
