Can’t believe it took me this long to get to it. Inside Llyewyn Davis.
Big fan of the brothers movies. There were a couple before it but Barton Fink was the one that did it for me.
The rest is history as they say.
Slightly OT: who has seen Delicatessen?
Me. Can't say it was my favorite or anything, but definitely bugged me out.
The City of Lost Children, Amelie, Micmacs. Same director.
That stuff is right in my strike zone.
It’s weird though. I’ll give you that.
upstream color
uncut gems
good time
you were never really here
knight of cups
Upstream Color was great.
I just finished Huge in France on Netflix. I thought it was a pretty good satire of LA industry culture. Easy target, but well-executed nonetheless.
Listing only the good ones -
Spectral
Ice Road
Honest Thief
Savages
Sicario
Triple Frontier
The Guest
Mosquito Coast. Good suspense show, but a little unbelieveable in few rare instances.
Sometimes the Youtube algorithm shines!
Found a new channel that's a blast to follow
I just can’t get enough of this...
Me. Beautiful movie, absolutely love it. The scene with the saw/violin duet - goosebumps! Did you like it?
Loved it!
That movie introduced me to the director and lead actor.
Didn’t know what I was missing.
Big fan!
Lupin on Netflix, great French cat and mouse thief drama.
Kidding with Jim Carrey, once again directed by Michel Gondry. First season was great, halfway through second and it might be tailing off, I’ll see how it goes, but the first run was great; an aging kids puppet show presenter facing his demons, great cast and some lovely writing and direction, oh and puppets of course
If you have five minutes, this new piece by an old mate of mine is well worth your time...
OddTaxi. Japanese anime that (unusually) is made for adults.
Kind of like a less violent Tarantino. Great dialog, a plot that is constantly surprising with an ending that just LANDS.
I just finished Twin Peaks season 3. That was amazing from an "experimental perception" point of view. Episode 8 is a work of art. The story is...well it's Lynch. You will have to spend some extra hours trying to find explanations on the web but I think I globally understand
Gotta light?
I love Twin Peaks, and I want to rewatch that third season. On the first pass, I got frustrated with Dougie Jones and found that most of the live bands broke the spell, but it was certainly interesting, surprising and spectacular. Especially #8, as you say. My take home was that it felt more like a dream about Twin Peaks than a dream within Twin Peaks, but I saw it with a lot of expectations back then, which won't be there for a second viewing. Hard to believe it's been 4 years already.
For now, I'm still obsessed with film noir. I can't get enough, and they made so many. They Won't Believe Me is a recent favourite.
Master Z
The Keeping Hours
I nearly enjoyed this too, with some of the caveats you mention, though I loved it when they introduced the band as ‘The’ Nine Inch Nails 😆
Currently watching Brand New Cherry Flavour and loving it, also finally got into Rick and Morty, two sides of a similar coin I think…
i fumbled my way through several of the new Twin Peaks episodes. Appreciate it's brilliance - but I was definitely lost much of the time. But - There's an awesome 5 minute scene in one episode with Michael Cera playing "Wally Brando" that was so great it alone was worth watching for.
This is the clip that made me want to watch it
"Martelo to the face!"
Some of the fans called the big reveal at the end several episodes in advance but I was still kinda surprised to actually see it.
The dialog is awesome!
Currently watching films out of Japan Cuts 2021, with less than a week left. Personal faves so far:
B/B - dunno how accurate the portrayal of dissociative identity disorder is, but the lead actress and the actors playing her character's 12 personalities put on great performances
Ito - I like a well executed character driven drama. Tsugaru shamisen and the Tsugaru dialect figure prominently.

The Amazing Race. I kind of hate how much I like it but it is what it is.
On Netflix, I just finished Daybreak. Because I had never heard of Netflix before, the Netflix marketing campaign absolutely failed me. It was a fantastic performance! Funny, engaging, one-of-a-kind, and all-around entertaining. I strongly suggest it. Also looking for some good conditioner for furniture.
It was cancelled for a second season, but if you enjoy it, there is a petition to get it revived, and according to the producer, if they reach 25k signatures, it may be brought back.
Andy always surprises with his weirdness...
Finally getting round to watching Snowpiercer (the movie then the series) and Stranger Things (with my teenage daughters who have already watched it about 3 times).
All the above are superb (as many of you probably have known for some years!)
Thank You Youtube

I find thins Guitarist quite entertaining
(The 5 minute series are hilarious).
This one works on multiple levels:
Indeed, her voice is really easy on the ears
