It's that off-kilter aspect that keeps you thinking, much like with a great Wes Anderson film.
I didn't expect something else to come along on a sci-fi bent so quickly on TV but the first two episodes of Severence on Apple TV were equally off-kilter and thought-provoking. Brilliantly directed by Ben Stiller too.
This will make anyones day a bit brighter!
It's so fricking hilarious and cool at the same time
(The rest of the videos om the channel bring a smile to my face as well, a new IDOL is born LOL).
Johnny Screamerclauz’s newest short, “Ascetic”. I’ve seen most of his other stuff and have mixed feelings about a lot of the imagery, but this newest release caught my attention due the collaboration with Flying Lotus…and ever since he started rendering in 4K, not just the image quality, but the content itself seems to be slightly more thoughtful.
Definitely not for the faint of heart. Makes A Serbian Film, Gozu, Salo, Lilya-4-Ever, and similar films seem light hearted.
Very NSFW. Unique, mind-bending animation style. Like Bubsy 3D on a hellish dose of 5MEODMT
"Servant of the People" on Netflix. Just when you thought life couldn't get any more surreal ...
Currently watching the excellent "Tokyo Vice" (HBO). A fascinating look into the seemingly untouchable Yakuza in Japan from the perspective of an American who became the first non-Japanese to work as an investigative reporter at a large Japanese newspaper.
Really enjoying Severance on Apple. Not usually big into science fiction. Directed by Ben Stiller - who did an amazing job on Escape at Dannemora. John Turturo is great as always - and Adam Scott is fantastic. It’s a tad slow the first ep or two. I found each episode gets a bit better. 4 left to go.
The last episode is sooo well done, tense!
These Remix Bro's things are addicting...
Some of the best TV I’ve seen in a while.
Yep, that last episode! Relieved to find out that there will be a season two.
Waffle party!
Not me, but good.
Just saw "The Batman" on HBO Max... and it was not good. I think the definitive Batman to beat is Christopher Nolan's trilogy (and it also had the best version of the Joker ever committed to film).
very mediocre flick. It looked beautiful, great cinematography!
Yes, disappointing because I like so many of the other movies Matt Reeves (the director) has made. I also found the decision to bury Colin Farrell in heavy prosthetic makeup utterly baffling. Why not just hire an actor who already looks like that or looks close to that? A total makeup stunt without a purpose.
Severance is the best thing I've watched in years. I've now gone back to the start to watch again with my eldest, it's well worth the second watch - lots of passing comments etc. that meant nothing on the first watch but are now filled with meaning knowing where the series goes.
Comments for sure but also subtle visuals that seemed so insignificant and you wonder why they would bother taking your eyes to it.
Very funny moments too. Don’t want to give too much away but that “dance party.”
What a hoot.
One of the few shows that I didn’t skip the intro. That’s even entertaining.
Love the Groove on this one...
Tilt-shift videos of other games are also available.
I just finished Ozark a few hours ago. What a show, what a f*cking (good) ending
Yeah they did a pretty good with the last episode. Took me awhile to accept it, everything seemed kinda sudden, but the more I thought about everyone's backstory the more I liked it.
Me, too! So deconstructed!
I’ve been watching these on you. Quite good as a sequel to the original.
These are great, I love the RDR2 ones!
Finished watching the serie last week. Can't wait to see the next season. I love the slow pace, the humor, the minimalistic setting. Every episode gets a sneak-peak about what to come. I like these kind of series. The slow pace and emergence into a setting, not only the characters, but also the scenery. Thats what i like about movies like the 2 bladerunner one's, Interstellar, 2001. It might be the ambient equivalent of music for movies.
I just finished the second watch-through. It's perfection. The timing in the final episode is as good, if not better, than any TV or movie I've ever seen. And I went to film school.
Just watched the new Avatar trailer... looks pretty magical.
Just finished watching. Such a great show. Probably makes my top 20 of all time Dramas.
I don’t want to give too much away on that final episode but I paused about 20 mins from the end hoping I could think of any way that what was paused on my screen and looked inevitable, might not actually happen. I REALLY tried. But had to resign myself to press play and watch it play out.
Love the show. Didn’t give them much hope of making something on a par with Breaking Bad.
Did they surpass BB with Saul?
Well I’m not going to argue too strongly with anyone who suggests they might have.
I’m about to watch ep 5 now. I think it’s notable that the director for this episode was listed as TBA on wiki. (Wrong!) 😉 Might be nothing in that though.Probably too soon for what I’m thinking. (Right!)
Barry.
Such a fantastic cast.
The odds are good and the goods are odd
