Am I crazy or is the latency longer in the AU version vs. standalone app when using MIDI keyboard? I could very well just be out of it this morning, not feeling well, but it doesn’t seem like I’m imagining things.
Perhaps the standalone uses a different buffer size than your AU host. Not unlikely.
Did you play the hosted AU live or did you experience the delays when sequencing the AU together with other instruments?
Layering two instances of Model D with the same synth line sounds really great.
Live, in AUM, with just a keyboard hooked up. Tried 256 then 128 because I was feeling a lag. Then shut it down and hosted the IAA in AUM still at 128. Again it may just be brain fog...I’ll check it again when I can.
InstaBuy this one. I missed all introductory prices on Moog stuff before but thanks to this place I got it this time! This synth is lovely - knew it was great within about two seconds of playing the first patch. To my ears, it has THAT sound. Thank you so much MOOG!
Even the manual is amazing.
Suppose I better read it then lol
Hehe, I was being complimentary and passive agressive. Two for one special!
I know many of you like iMini, but I’ve never felt it’s charms like I do with Model D. Can’t put my finger on it, but I just feel this app (kinky)
I've got the same feeling, iMini never 'spoke' to me in the way that the Model D app does.
If there's one request I would make it would be to make the knobs somewhat bigger (even if it meant having to 'pan scroll' the UI) and well, numerical feedback on the knob-values for more precise setting of parameters.
I’ve quite liked not having numerical feedback - it’s made me use my ears more and forget the ‘usual’ numbers
Not sure if you know of this trick, but if you touch an empty area of the Model D panel, or the wood with another finger while you’re tweaking a knob, the app switches to fine mode and you can dial in sound much more precisely. We recommend using another hand to touch that empty area.
Use two hands? I don’t even do that while playing my keys! (My other hand holds my vaping device lol)
It's not about the hands, it's about being able to see what is on the screen
I tried that and it works. I just miss numerical feedback
And since my eye-sight is getting worse with the a zoomable UI(pan-scroll is ok) would be a welcome addition.
(I'm on an Air 2 at the moment).
The PLAY button at the very top helps
Yeah it helps a bit but it also hides some of the controllers needed to program the patches which could be brought back if pan-scroll was available.
Retro Synth is definitely quite good, especially since they introduced the new filter types in LPX 10.4. I didn’t like it at first — RS was designed as a polysynth, so most of the settings sound a little thin by default. Once I understood how it was designed, it became much easier to work with. I still give preference to Model D for several reasons: more aggressive overdrive, envelopes that trigger from the release value (analogue-style), and a dedicated touchscreen interface instead of Smart Controls.
But no arguments about having too many synths. It’s important to set limitations, especially when synths are so cheap on iOS.
I started using a stylus recently for this exact reason, and I'm using a 12.9" Pro. I just can't see around my fat fingers when trying to make fine adjustments, and I find using the stylus easier.
BTW - thanks to whomever suggested I use the Friendly Swede 3-in-1 stylus. It's been working great.
Great app simulation of a great synthesizer! But please Moog add a Animoog style scales keyboard! Even iMini has one! Thanks for another wonderful app.
I love the bank/preset management! It is absolutely perfect for the iPhone!
I agree....with that it might be the worst preset management. But Korg is not better too.
So maybe the big hardware companies should learn from the software developers
But again someone reminded me to use the AUv3 in GB and use the slider view. This works well for me and i can create some more presets without breaking my fingers.
anybody do moof model d vs. imini video?
I'm sure someone will beat me to it, but I'm hoping to film one this weekend.
Look forward to it
Nice! Me too....
Uh oh, someone didn’t read the whole thread!
Thanks Shazamm!
Edit: this is more of an “unboxing video” with a quick visual comparison to imini at the end.
It would be good to hear a detailed side by side comparison.
cool thanks
