The "instruments" are all virtual, but the recordings are real performances, recorded to MIDI so that timing errors can be fixed or quantized. It's all done using soft synths on the iPad.
The SC link is dead - can you edit the post to point to a live link?
Wow it all sounds very analog and acoustic, hats off
It's back up:
@obijohn excellent opening riff, I really like that because it's such a strong start to the track. The variations on it work well too. There's some interesting changes in dynamics and textures going on, but the riff is the main attraction and the track is woven around it - I thought maybe it could have done with a different lead at some point, with a different sound and a different melody, just for variation, but otherwise it's all good.
@Eriko The vocal sound is really good, no idea what it's saying but it adds a really nice textural element that the track is then built around.
Nice bass line, good groove, the track washes over you in a really pleasing way, a very enjoyable listen. The melodies and pads that drift over the top are excellent, nicely varied and really well composed. Dynamics are well balanced and keep the track interesting throughout. IMO the arrangement is pretty good this time around
Not mad on the very sudden ending though.
Thanks! The vocals are from the new app Streemur, routed through Dervoco, so I don’t have a clou what they are saying either
The ending was because of a wrongly placed locator in Cubasis
Apologies for the post and dash nature of this months effort...there is a bigger story behind this tune, see this thread for the basic run down https://forum.audiob.us/discussion/26760/one-example-of-why-the-world-is-f-k3d
We will listen and comment on other submissions soon.
This tune started as a drum and bass track made entirely in Groovebox.....Once we had vocals from @Bluepunk everything was exported into Cubasis...and then recorded the Elec Guitar and Bass using a Line 6 Amplifi TT.
All sounds apart from the Guitars are from Groovebox, all mixed in Cubasis...mastering was done using MasteringBox...hope you enjoy,
EDIT: Thanks for all of your feedback, here is the final version.

@richardyot Nice and relaxing this is...very nice groove, great bassline, and the melodies are sweet too....I did want to hear what happened after the sweeping synth came in towards the end
@crouchie Love this....reminds me of early Underworld....yes the bass is coming through for me. I think the vocals could be just a smidge louder at points, great job !
@icsleepers Great stuff...like the sub bass, good driving rhythm..as you already know, the kick (or at least some of the kick) could do with being down there with the sub bass...overall good job
@studs1966 I was drawn to the Tubby mix....interesting blend of dub and disco...kinda works...great sounds and awesome mix as usual
Thank you! 😁
Thanks Andy...... I thought you might be drawn to the “King Tubby” Mix?
You know me so well
.
Cool track! I like how the vocals kind of have the opposite feel of the instruments, a nice contrast. I mean, the vocals are very laid back and relaxed, with an almost intentional "lazy" feel, but the instruments have a constant and busy drive to them. Nicely done!
Fun! I think the second version definitely has a cleaner, more polished sound, especially the percussion. I did kind of like the intro of the first version, up to around the 0:37 mark when the main part of the songs kicks in. What I mean is that in the first version, when the drums come in they are a much more back in the mix compared to the second version. The overall drums sound pops much better in the second version, but I like how during the intro the initial drum sound is more distant, seemed to fit better with what you're trying to do in that intro. But then after the intro at ~0:37 I would certainly keep the second version. Anyway, just my 2 cents (tuppence?). Really like the track. You've got a good combo going on with @Bluepunk
Good point about those intro drums...Thanks
My submission for the month. A Nujabes inspired beat. Let me know your thoughts 🙂
Nicely done. Good production. Maybe some chilled out vocals sprinkled on top? Only a suggestion mind?
Thanks! Yeah, not enough time this month to do lyrics. I'll try next time around, should be a good learning experience.
@AndyPlankton and @Bluepunk My speakers are still recovering from the growl in the intro. That intro is so heavy it makes the rest of it sound like a pop song. The music actually has a bit of a bopalong quality to it, but then there's that rather fierce vocal layered on top
Lovely little break at the 2 minute mark, with the high-pitched melody. The track overall is really heavy, pretty relentless listening, but there are some nice melodic ideas lurking in there if you listen for them and the overall production is great - the vocal might be a tad too high in the mix, but otherwise all good.
Hey @richardyot thanks for the feedback......when you say really heavy, what exactly do you mean, too bottom heavy ? or are you meaning musically heavy (busy) instead ? or something else ? We are working on a new (final) mix of this, and we're trying to make sure we properly understand and take on board all feedback
Heavy musically, like The Butthole Surfers or The Melvins.
OK, Thank you....that's not a bad thing then Appreciate it
I've seen the Melvins live - that was a heavy gig
@trackedout it's a pretty catchy tune, backed of course with your trademarked slightly shambolic sound, always teetering on the edge of chaos. The vocal melody and the delivery are great, while in the background the band are working off the pills and whiskey they took earlier in the day.
Long time lurker on this forum and I'd like to share with you what I did earlier this month.
