My submission for the month. A Nujabes inspired beat. Let me know your thoughts 🙂

Enjoying the mellow vibes. Nicely chilled out

  • @richardyot, this is a great backing track: great sounds and the mix is very good... would you retry recording the vocals? This has the potential to be a great song!

  • @crouchie, the song is fantastic, but I cannot really understand what you are saying, or better, whispering. Funny, I have a friend who produces beats since twenty years ago, whose opinion is that in electronic music, the voice must be buried. The effect is good indeed, but the lyrics better not be important to the song!

  • @icsleepers, I thing the piano/synth/bells riffs are great but a little on the loud side, so the drums ended up buried and song lost punch. Perhaps it was intentional anyway...? Interesting beat!

  • @studs1966, listened only the third mix, it has kind of a bossa nova/latin feel. Enjoyed it a lot!

  • @obijohn, great song, enjoyed the kind of early 90’s synth riff in the beginning (reminds me of Snap’s “Rhythm is a Dancer”) and the guitar-like overdriven riff complements it well. Which synths did you use?

  • @eriko, loved the four on the floor with that 16th pulse hats and some syncopathed kicks, it worked very well to me.

  • @trackedout, great guitar riffs: the almost walking bass line is also great. The chorus is very catchy, very memorable!

  • @AndyPlankton and @Bluepunk, what a great duo! I read that topic: great lyrics, it deserves a broader audience!

  • @shiftsynth1, I was about to ask why the song is named “Nuj1” when I read the description. Yeah, I can hear where you draw inspiration from. Great beat, the mix is all right.

  • @dedko, some great synth tones in there: what did you use? The first delayed riff before the euphoriac one sounds quite FM-ish, I’d guess Phasemaker? Good trancey song!

  • @LostBoy85, I really wanted to hear your song, since you and @marcel made the absolute SOTMC hit IMO, but the link is dead...

Thanks, that means a lot :) And we are trying to get it a bigger audience very soon ;)

  • My entry for this month: only voice and cavaquinho, lyrics in the video’s description. Recorded and finished in Auria Pro!

Thanks mate. Your right. Every mix I do in a track, I try to do a Boss nova mixed version (at least one version) in all of my songs. So I would do Disco version, then Deep House version, them Bossa nova/Latin version, then see if I can do more variation, but always on a House/Disco theme on the same Vocals. Adds spice & variation. ;)

Cheers mate! It was all done on Gadget with 22 tracks (including 5 instances of Lisbon). That plinky FM-like soundness was done in Helsinki

Long time lurker on this forum and I'd like to share with you what I did earlier this month.

I liked this a lot and I'm not usually a massive fan of EDM. I do wish there was a Part B, makes massive difference in maintaining a listeners attention.

Thanks! The pad was Volt, the lead and gnarly bass were Zeeon. The drums were Lyra (Auria’s sampler) cobbled together from different kit samples.

As above(not EDM Fan) But a terrific production neither the less. I would advise to add some sort of vocals to add polish This type of music I would hear in “Bar Street” in Paphos(Cyprus)...... But excellent all the same. I’m going to make a silly guess, but this production was not made on iOS. Desktop!Mastering) Maybe iOS then Mastered on PC/MAC? Not a critical thingy, just an observation, as I Master on PC from iOS too. But it doesn’t matter...... Bloody Well Done mate.. Great Stuff!...... ;)

Love it...... I do prefer your Latino stuff, but every track you release I enjoy always. Love your guitar work & vocals mate. By the way I watched that movie last year(& the new version) fab stuff!..... ;)

My entry this time. Still no arrangement and no edits. But trying to give it away in a timely manner.

The SC link is dead - can you edit the post to point to a live link?

    It's back up:

    Superb production. Love it. :)

Nice work mate!! It’s great to hear you SING!!! and you CAN sing...so now I’m wondering why you don’t do it more often? :D :) This is a nice little one and one, with a great video to accompany it!

As for my track, I’m redoing it, based on the great feedback I’ve got here and elsewhere. I’ll repost in next months thread.

Thanks for your kind words about mine and @marcels track. :)

I am blown away that you think it sounds like a pro-mastered track  because I worked only in Gadget, sound design and effects too. Mix down and mastering (as best as I could) in Gadget as well and pushed directly to Gadgetcloud. The whole lot was done start-to-finish in Gadget based on tips and tricks I learned here in the forum and glad to share how I did it, if there’s interest

My entry for the month, it's an instrumental this time around, it did have vocals at one point but they really sucked, so I deleted them.

Really nice sound to this one. Those gentle pads and the faint feedback-y screeches. Very good indeed, stripped back and all the more effective. Nicely done!

My entry for the month. This is just a solo gig this time. All thoughts are gratefully received and a huge thanks to all who commented on “Silent Tears” from last month. :)

You old crooner, you! Loved those early harmonies - really! Drew me right in, then you built them up and I was totally sold. Did u play the old Joanna yourself? Top song, brilliant (mean no offence but I think I lean towards your solo stuff, less rocky, but the other stuff it brilliant at what it does)

    For June:

Some drum & bass / jungle as promised. Pill foley by me (cause I'm getting OLD and I need TYLENOL), vocal sample also me. Sequenced in Auxy, have some Blocs Wave/Launchpad under here somewhere and some amen samples cut up with ReSlice. Whole mix run through Grand Finale as usual. Thanks!

Not to blow smoke up your arse (what a quaint expression) but your entries are the ones I look forward to the most since coming back to SOTMC. This is excellent, I have no complaints, just wish that I could do it...

  • @LostBoy85 the new piano arrangement is much better, suits the song a lot better too because it's more delicate.
