I haven’t got Phasemaker, or Phosphor 2 - both on sale at the mo. Do I need them? Considering I’ve already got nearly every synth in the world...

I'd say Phasemaker more than Phosphor. I find with Phasemaker I can have lots of them running together without descending into mush. Great for Quantum extravaganzas.

  • Load up the Store in SL app,
Over on the top right hand corner there’s a pencil. Tap it and it will show you all the credits that are up for grabs if you do those actions. Like adding name, email address, etc and if you do referrals your friends score a credit as well as you.

It’s awesome and I appreciate the devs with this clever idea!

Thanks, yeah I’m on an Air 2 so low CPU hits are a bonus. Phosphors only two quid though....hmm..

Yes you need both of those :-D

:) I’m sure I will - it’s the only Brambos I don’t have, and Phosphors dead cheap. I’ll probably crumble tomorrow..,

  • I think out of all my sale purchases, ApeMatrix has got to be my favourite. It’s bloody brilliant, right up my alley.

Yeah thought you'd like it :) It's great for experimenting with stuff with the LFOs and routing.

I just purchased Phosphor 2 so I’m still in the will-I-drop-it-like-a-hot-rock phase but I’m enjoying it. I think for sound design you’d want an Apple Pencil to grab the teeny controls in the oscillators. And with as few presets as it has it seems to be geared towards the sound designer. I think it’s great. Plus it’s a gorgeous UI (if that matters to you). At this price, it seems worth the gamble.

That's what I love - clicking on the chain link and assigning LFO's to everything - really cleaver and easy. The routing on the 'matrix' is good too - really easy to make/break connections, adjust volume etc. I initially thought I'd just use this for the modulation stuff, but I think it'll get as much use as AUM.

Yeah I like the UI, and it's a silly price. I'll see how I get on today - the sales are a good opportunity to buy stuff I need for work, and see how much I have left!

    Yeah, I agree.
Setting up some LFOs to modulate AU Plugins is so convenient when they are integrated into the host like this.
I'm a bit disappointed with certain aspects of the MIDI matrix routing though as currently Virtual MIDI inputs and outputs as can't really be addressed independently and as flexibly as I thought they would be. (likewise, individual MIDI channels).
Hopefully they might develop this aspect though. <3

Yeah I know what you mean about the virtual midi ports.
I think because the architecture of the matrices is fixed, unlike AUM say, which is dynamic (you can keep adding tracks) i think that's why virtual midi ports have to be off the matrix. At least that's my understanding anyway.
Maybe it can be addressed in the future :)

I knew you'd like it down here on the ground rather than up on that fence. Didn't I tell ya!?!?

  • The cool thing about having AUM, ApeMatrix and other hosts is that - even when there is feature-parity - looking at things differently often lets you come up with different results and can give you that little creative boost you sometimes need.

  • .99 cents for Magellan? What the. Should I? Yes, I should. If only because it will run on my iPad 2nd gen.

I think that's why I've always felt my stuff is more creative with this platform. My favourite Friday night treat is to buy a new app, spend half an hour exploring it and then recording a little thing with it. For a relatively small outlay it'll throw a new perspective on what I'm doing, and send me off in a completely unexpected direction. ApeMatrix is a good example of this, and it's certainly unblocked the current fatberg in my mind drain.

Not knocking desktop software, but I tend to follow a similar workflow each time, and it's a bit more serious - which I sometimes find holds me back. Best way I find is a ombination of both - get my silly explorations done on the iPad, then shunt them over to desktop to make them palatable for public consumption.

Yeah exactly :) That's why I use Ape/AUM and AB3 the most, you'll get a different view on creating stuff. And particularly these hosts are not telling you to do it in a certain way which most Daws do. It's more about exploring ideas.

It's funny ... as soon as I open up Cubasis it's instant serious time. I get the feeling that I need to be working towards something. Crafting something. I'm in the more "professional" attitude (for lack of a better term).

I fire up ApeMatrix and it's like ... hmmm.... let's do this! And this !!! And why not this!!!!!!!!!

This for sure - getting something going in Cubasis means "it's time for a SONG" - meaning a defined beginning, middle and end.

I pick up apeMatrix far more often - with the kids (and life) I have 10 minutes here, 15 minutes there. With apeMatrix I never feel bad about experimenting, and half of the way I figure out cool things is by mucking around in there with all the connections. The only downside is when I take it back to Cubasis I don't have all the fancy LFOs....

This is why I have such high hopes for Photon, the AUv3 midi recorder/looper @midiSequencer is working on. I’m hoping to be able to slap that in there, grab the midi and save it as a preset, then just load up Photon in the target app to play it back, hopefully just the same way I captured it. Fingers crossed...

New to all this and ready to buy but surely $49.99 isn’t 75% off the regular Motherload v.1 price. 75% off the individual component prices? Jive behavior if that’s it.

How did you get $10 down from $14.99 to $4.99? I got it $5 down so far. But i didn't send referrals to friends yet. Do you get $1 off for each referral you send? And also, the program didn't let me put in my birth date. Tried several times. So, no extra dollar off for that one either.
