FL Studio went on sale to 7.99 USD. Does anyone use this? I have the desktop, but don't really use desktop much. Does it do Auv3? etc?

It’s a total joke. Seriously. I’m the biggest Image-Line / FL Studio fanboy ever, and I’ve tried so hard to keep an open mind about FLSM, but every single time I give it another chance, I end up deleting it. It’s just always broken in so many ways. It doesn’t support AUv3. It claims to support AudioBus and IAA, but has always been broken. (At least up to the last time I tried it a 4-6 months ago).

I wouldn’t keep it on my iPad even if it was free. It makes me too sad.

That said, others like it for its internal synths and say that it’s good as a standalone.

this is why I simply cannot take the plunge, imageline know better super for sure :(

  • Just swooped back in and picked up all the Woodmans effects
    Can never resist a sale!

Yes, probably the worst app I have ever used, definitely the worst I've paid for.

  • And FL studio on PC is my 2nd favorite DAW. So if anyone would appreciate a mobile version that wasn't total crap it would be me.

how is the Ddfm NYcompressor compared to woodpressor? just curious if I should grab it while it is still on sale?

I’ve bought NYCompressor today, after using Woodpressor for a few months. NYC is warmer, softer, but doesn’t lack punch. WP feels quite clinical, even harsh imho, NYC feels more organic. You get far better control over the attack, which is very nice. I think NYCompressor is going to be my new go-to compressor, despite the slightly whacky UI on an 11“ Pro.

1:1 i couldn't tell a difference. If there was one, I might've given the win to DDMF but i was probably more familiar with it. Woodpressor gives a lot more features (don't remember if woodpressor can sidechain in the auv3) and is easier to use. I guess I'm saying both do the job but I prefer Woodpressor overall at this point, unless and until DDMF updates its UI.

  • Wow. The bundle of all 5 Apps is $18.

    1. Reverb
    2. Compressor
    3. Limiter (hopefully good to nail that LOFS -14 like Pro L2 does)
    4. EQ
    5. EQ, Directional (worth looking at seriously)

That's $3.60 per Effect. Gotta try 'em all, right?

I’m not seeing any LUFS metering. Am I just missing it in the App Store description?

I think that answers what I was "hoping" for... It does NOT have that feature apparently. Maybe @richardyot will see this and offer an overview. He's got a great video using FabFilter L2 to master for streaming services targeting LOFS -14 as I recall.

I think the simple answer is L2 has a feature where you can set the target LUFS and it will adjust accordingly. It’s the only limiter that I know of on iOS with that feature. Grand Finale has LUFS metering, so you can visually get in the ballpark. This is what I’ve been using. Without the metering I don’t know how you can know where you are. But I’ll admit I know very little on the subject.

Yeah. I was hoping to get that feature with this purchase. I have Grand Finale and @richardyot wrote that you need to manually adjust the compression in realtime while L2 Pro looks ahead and automatically adjusts the output to match the LUFS -14 results that the streaming services want... I'd expect they would pre-process using a similar Limiter rather than just expecting everyone to pre-process to that spec.

  • Clarification: ProL2 doesn’t automatically adjust the levels, it just has the most accurate metering (by a long way) which allows you to accurately adjust the levels. The integrated loudness metering will give you a reading for the average loudness over the whole track so you can set a target level very easily, but you still have to set that level yourself. No other limiter on iOS has this feature though, and no other limiter has metering that comes anywhere close in terms of accuracy and usefulness.

Have to disagree. Yes, we’d hoped for better, but it sounds good, it’s stable and it already has better interconnectivity (inter app audio) than NS2!😉

Yeah! Cool! Got some industrial stuff over there. Do someone know a technique how you can get the samples out of the AudioCopy app the fastest way? I hate that app but I really like these sound packs they have (and the sales of course :-))

Easy import into Egoist is one method.

Thanks mate, that was quite a ride :) but if I didn’t miss a thing there is not really a possibility to e port them into the files app or so. I am glimpsing over to NanoStudio to implement some of these sound in some slate instruments or so.

Thank you for sharing your expertise. Repetition drives home the key points.

LUFS (also called LKFS) is "Loudness Unit relative to Full Scale" is a metering system that's used to insure audio levels stay constant on a streaming/broadcast service. Have you noticed those commericials that have louder audio than the show? We'll Spotify and other streamers have started processing audio through a LUFS -14 processor to insure the "station" volume stays relatively constant.

So, @richardyot created a youtube video to show you how to insure your projects get this treatment with you doing the processing. It requires FabFilter Pro L2 which then requires Auria Pro to install but if you need it, you need it.

So, I was eager to see if this limiter had any help. It appears only Klevgrand's Grand Finale has the LUFS meters but not the automation to control the results easily. But you can at least read the meters with Grand Finale and the streaming service will still apply it's process to make the track conform to their standards.

Richard's a Pro at mastering and most of us only get an audience of a few friends anyway on SoundCloud but it's good to understand what these issues mean in engineering terms.

Yeah. I’m always sad to see it getting so strongly criticised on here. I love the look of it. The synths sound fantastic. It has a load of nice touches. IAPs are very reasonable and very good. At full price it’s still a bargain. And being updated regularly. Not one to buy if interconnectivity is your thing, obviously!

Have not tried the software yet (ok, i’m somewhat ascared 😱), but that has to be the funniest plugin site I’ve ever seen. Apparently, Jexus and Tyler Durden have joined forces to produce audio-destroying VSTs. Glad to hear that. Really, it was only a matter of time. 😅

It’s worth looking at the version history FLSM in the AppStore, it’s been updated 25 times going back into 1 year ago, including bug fixes and added features. It’s also worth looking at the 42 tutorial videos from Image Line on YouTube.

When people throw shade on this app I always wonder, what is it they’re trying to do that they’re not able to do? Record and sequence via audiobus (including AUv3 stuff hosted in audiobus) It does that. Maybe sequence and render IAA instruments, does that too.
Audio edition, nested file structure...not to mention a lot of things other DAWs do not do. Audio tracks, sample accurate editing, triplets, tape stop, FX buses etc.etc.
