@midiSequencer
Hi there. Amazing app. Thank you for this (and all the other apps too).
I was just leaving you a 5-star rating for Photon. I noticed someone left a 1-star review. This person seems to be opening the standalone and only getting access to the manual.
Complained about ‘only receiving a PDF file’.
Just letting you know, so hopefully it gets cleared up and that person changes their silly 1-star rating.
"Looking forward" to that experience after release of my first Audio Unit!
(my app store descriptions already begin with a 3-page disclaimer in all-caps stating that a brain is required, but I don't think that's enough for the level of stupidity that can be met in some dark corners of the userbase...)
yeah thx - I'd already replied but it takes time to filter through on the app store!
I guess not everyone is familiar with AUs as we are on this forum. Good to hang around here - you learn alot!
It’s a rite of passage of sorts. I’ve had a fair few of those. Never gets old.
@midiSequencer when is your other app going to be relateased?
I’m in, whatever your first AU app turns out to be.

Nope. IPad Air 2 here.
I really hope that saving presets is added in addition to full state save. This would include saving the buffer, all of the pad settings, etc.
My original hope for a midi looper AU was to be able to record/loop in one host, then simply save the preset, then open in another host, with exactly the same state. Don’t get me wrong - I’m just happy to have what we do. But switching hosts is a little more work than it would be if there was preset saving.
Polythemus? It is ready - just need to do some iPhone screenshots.
Will be in next couple of days
If I save the midi in the state save then thats possible. But midi files saved in Photon AU are available in any host you open it in (+ standalone version).
1st video available - showing Groove applied to a classical midi file
I plan on doing more short videos covering aspects of Photon usage. Hopefully this style is ok (given I'm a noob with video production!)
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.. wow.. this is much more deeper than I anticipated.. And we are only at Version 1..
Congrats.. Nice..
Nice video @midiSequencer
Makes it a lot clearer. One thing though, when you had the groove thing opened then said click here to switch between showing the buffers, groove notes etc.. I couldn't work out the here that you were clicking on.
@RajahP thx. Thought id show it being used for a more complex midi file. Ideally the original midi needs to be quantised to a small number first as many chords didnt remain in the final version(notes have to be the exact same beat) so maybe need to add a quantise for groove?
just tap the middle display (its actually a button) that shows the notes, it cycles through all the buffers(except in edit mode where its locked to the internal buffer).
Nice app!
My 2 cents:
Looking fwd to:
Midi thru (on/off button) of incomming midi events to selected pad destination, so we can hear what we play before and while we are recording.
dedicated buttons to load and unload buffer instead of assign + pop up menu
Imho, there should be some way to hear the buffer content before saving it to a pad. Having to switch view to assign it to a pad isn't practical, so I wish pads and buffer content would be visible on the same screen.
Or
-Direct recording to pads with undo/redo. As it is now, it's possible to enter notes on pads in step mode but entered notes aren't played, it would be awesome.
My dream job would be music app UI develpment consultant ☺️
Understood, and that works OK, but it would be nice to have the entire setup, including patterns loaded into pads, chaining settings, etc rather than having to scroll through midi files, remember which, load into the buffer and then to the pad, set pad start and length ... up to four times. Ideally a preset would recall exactly what you had set up previously.
Basically, I would hope to have captured something great in something like AUM and when I think “damn, need Cubasis to finish this.” I just port it over in one quick operation.
But, for sure this is still great even with the slower workflow.
That should be interesting.. Folders for midi files (Bass, Lead, Drum Grooves, etc.) would be nice too..
lets get some midi files up in here..😬
maybe I can do a mini pack..
@midiSequencer What is the DM10 button for? Skimmed the manual a couple times and couldn’t find a reference.
Recording DM (drum machine) on channel 10 (typical channel). Protects, when active (highlighted) from transposition. Useful for keeping your drums from being altered.
>Transpose
>You can shift midi notes from -24 to +24 semitones. It only affects notes. If DM10 is enabled it won't apply to any note data in midi channel 10."
Gracias
Thank you Mister!
Sweet! Perfect timing to jump back into ios
Great stuff good video looking forward to seeing more. Can anyone recommend any good classical midi file websites?
Classical Archives is very good:

This groove thing is crazy amazing ! Just tried to mix Robert Miles with Eric Satie... crazy...
Yeah, its power is a groove can be any midi file.
I don't tend to use the strength on the start beats, but for volume its useful.
[EDIT: Never mind, I'm thinking scores.
