Comments
While trying to quote a 2nd comment (2nd reply), it won't load the editor unless we refresh the page.
Also, the quoted comment is shrunk if it is long and cannot be expanded in the editor to remove unwanted stuff.
Yeah the quotes thing I don't expect to be fixed any time soon in the new editor, which is why I'll be switching back to the old one, once they've fixed that. Hopefully next few days. I'll look into the errors though
What makes you say that @lasselu ?
How do you get to ‘next page’ on the iPhone?
There's a paging bar at the top, @RajahP - tap the ">>" button for next page.
Thanks Got it now.. Human nature and drastic changes, I guess.. bless.
Oftentimes, you can't quote (desktop version). When clicking on "Quote", the following JS error appears:
Also, extensions of file attachments are not checked correctly. For example, a file named "Capture.PNG" is not accepted. But "Capture.png" (lowercase) is. That should be case-insensitive.
(Maybe my next project will be a forum software! ;))
Better yet, join the Vanilla development community. 😎
Salary? 😉😉😉
I’m not getting the emails I used to get for mentions, bookmarks etc.
Bookmarks too, for sure? Mentions within quotes are broken, as I lamented above; nothing for it but to wait, there. I tried to figure out how to fix it myself but it would've taken too long.
@SevenSystems: Yeah, I've reported that to the team. Another couple days we'll be back to the old faithful editor, once the new bugs are fixed.
Never updating this forum software again; bugger security!
I've been busy with quite a few different things so missed checking into the forum for a bit, but coming back I've really dug the new look. Especially the dark mode on the mobile version, very cool.
Ah ok, was just going to mention this. Be good if it can be fixed, as I've missed a few mentions in quotes.
Not that the Forum isn’t an
important part of my day,
but I’m not going to lose sleep if my account here gets hacked!Oh, and as for why the text above is weird, there’s a pop up context menu for the editor that conflicts with the iOS pop up context menu that makes it very hard to undo formatting done in the editor. Obviously looking forward to going backwards to the markup editor!
You and me both!
Cool, @JRSIV ! Yeah me too, that's the one positive change from this update. It's so much better on mobile now
Yep, big improvement. Digging it.
any idea how i can remove quoted text from textbox on iphone or ipad ? looks it is not possible, if i select it (to push backspace) keyboard disappears...
I'm afraid it's impossible! Great huh? 😁
Another day or two once they've fixed it, I hope we can go back to the old editor
I can neither post nor see the upper menu on an iPhone, iOS 9.3.5.
It was definitely working a few days ago, but now it behaves like there's an unclickable overlay over the whole page.
Yep, like I said, they broke the old one and we're waiting for the fix.
Yep, reported to Vanilla, @rs2000. We wait with baited breath! They really ballsed up this release, and I jumped on it like a sucker 'cos they said it had critical security updates and one should update immediately.
Thanks. I guess they need more test pilots 😉
Now you know why Angst is used as a very effective form of crowd control ;)
On a more serious note though: you can assume that virtually ALL systems are filled to the brim with security holes, both known and unknown, and that one more or less doesn't really matter. Life's dangerous. Just accept it :) (I know, not a very modern attitude...)
Hmm, it becomes more of an issue when the fixes are made public, and one doesn't apply them. Then it's pretty trivial to scan for installations of the prior version, and you know exactly what security holes there are. Undiscovered security holes are still a problem, but they're less of a target.
